One of the issues with our original MKZ (built in April) was a water gurgling sound coming from under the dash. After reading this. I think it might have been an issue with the ac. You would pull up to a drive thru or at a stop light and it sounded like water draining out of a bathtub. It also kinda sounded like water hitting a fan (kinda). Have any of you guys noticed that type of a sound when your ac is on but your fan and music is turned down low? I would think a easy fix would be to add a small drain underneath where ever the moisture is accumulating. I like the idea of having the fan run for a few minutes after shut off to prevent moisture from sitting!
Nope, I didn't hear anything like that at all.

I purchased my Fusion in November 2012. It had the new car smell until July 2013 when the moldy smell appeared when running the A/C or heat. The smell was so bad that it permeated the interior and I could smell it even with climate control turned off.
I took it in for service three times. They sprayed FrigiFresh the first two times but the smell came back in two days. I took it in for the third time in October 2013. The service department said there was "debris in the fresh air box". They cleaned out the fresh air box and sprayed FrigiFresh again. It has been three months and the moldy smell has not returned.
I wish I could get the new car smell back  .
Did you use the A/C at all in October after they said they cleaned out the fresh air box. If not, my thinking is it's just not there anymore because the air is getting colder and the mold is not active at this time. There are a lot of us with this problem. Go over to the Fusion Hybrid forum on this topic to read more. Here is the link: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/5344-cooling-system-stinks-up-car-even-in-winter/

The small disappears. Doesn't really make sense that it's mold, does it? The smell would never disappear.
Well mold needs moisture to "activate." So I'm guessing when the water, humidity, whatever is not present then the mold goes dormant. Then when that mositure comes back, so does the smell.

I too have this smelly sock odor for the first 2-3 minutes after start-up. It's very nasty. My kids complain every time. Got my Fusion in April and the smell start in Sept. My 2013 Explorer does not exhibit the same smell. Neither did any of my previous Fords over the past 20 years. This is a design issue. The design must be promoting mold growth. And by the way, I shouldn't have to turn my A/C off several minutes before I turn off my car. Frankly, that is absurd to expect a driver to have to do that every time.
My Fusion was built in April, is that your build date as well? I wondering if it's limited to a certain batch of cars made in April.

good luck getting a lemon law for this
Possible mold in the hvac system is a serious health issue. I don't see how it would be a problem to get lemon law protection for this.

Well, the smell is back. So that "fix" doesn't seem to work.

I have posted over on the Fusion Hybrid forum. My dealer has been in contact with the FSE and Ford and a few other dealers. The "fix" they did to my car involved spraying a special epoxy onto the a/c evaporator. The epoxy hardens and is supposed to create some kind of insulation I guess to stop excess water from building it. The epoxy also has a anti-microbial in it that inhibits any mold/mildew growth. I've had the car back from the dealer for a few days and haven't had the smell. It is cooler than it has been in the summer though, but I have been running the a/c some. Time will only tell if this is a fix.

Not likely. You can ask but most likely you are going to hear what you read on this thread and you might get charged depending on the dealer.
Of course this has to be something covered under warrantly. I've had my car 4 months and it smells like a wet dog with the a/c on or with only the vent on. There is something wrong with the build on certain cars for this to be happening. I've seen quite a few others with the problem in this car over on the Fusion Hybrid forum. I've never had this problem with any other car.
I've had my car in for serivce twice for this. Both times they said they sprayed the mold/mildew solution in the car (I believe it's Fridgi Fresh), only for it to come back the day aftrer I get my car back.
It is to the point where I can't have people in my car because I'm too embarrassed by the smell. I can't even take it myself, I have to drive without a/c or with the windows down in the heat.

No, neither. All of the options I purchased are included in my signature.
I addressed the possible speedometer issue in my post. I included a comparative speedometer calculation between the two tire sizes. The HyTi's speedometer will read 65MPH with the larger tires, while it is actually going 65.18 MPH.
I'll repost the chart below, for your reference:
Yeah sorry I just saw those numbers looking back. I would love to switch out the wheels like you did, but you got a great deal.
Maybe down the road these wheels will start hitting ebay at a lower price.
You should take off the black decals on the center of the wheel to show the Ford logo. Although your car is black so it does go well.

Do you have adaptive cruise or park assist? Do you know if the new wheels will affect those? I also wonder about the speedometer being off once larger wheels are put on.

Thank you!

When you park the car, you have to put the car in neutral and put the handbrake on. The car must be shut off in the correct way for the remote start to be active when you want to start it remotely.
Weird. I had no idea you had to leave your car in neutral and have the handbrake on. Seems odd you couldn't just have it in park.

It does carry over to the Energi and Hybrid Titaniums (thank god!).The integrated tailpipes and aluminum pedal covers are the only features that don't carry over.
There is only 1 wheel choice on the hybrid titanium and Energi, unlike on the Gas Titaium that has more wheel options.

Well just found out the coupon I got isn't for hybrids! DAMN! I picked up my car on Saturday and they just put the $750 in and emailed me today that it wasn't valid. So psyched to have to come up with $750 out of my pocket...

Had you agreed on this coupon with the dealer beforehand? They should have contacted their regional manager or Ford directly before the deal and made sure it would be valid. If you had already agreed to it I'd say that's their fault, not yours.

How does one get this job? Hanging out and playing with clay all day, seems like zero stress level.

The entire government is a joke, I live in the D.C. area and see it every day.

Awesome tips on the CSX tracking, thanks!

You'd look great behind the wheel of a Hyundai hybrid. I'm sure they'll give you a discount.
Ew. Hyundai.

I got my VIN from Ford chat. Just log on to www.Ford.com and if you have your order number and the dealership code (you should be able to get that off your vehicle order confirmation, if not just ask your dealer) you can just give that info to the Ford chat person and they should be able to see if a VIN has been created yet. You can get to Ford chat by going on the site and building a car, you'll see the chat button in the top left corner.
