  1. I went by the dealer yesterday to talk with the Body shop, but the manager was busy. I took a closer look at the two. It seems that both have the same exhaust systems right up to the muffler, where the gas Titanium has a muffler with dual pipes coming out (both have one going in) and the Energi only has one coming out. I think it would not be too hard to remove it at the muffler and make it a "true" dual exhaust. I see have to check with them to see.

I don't agree with a kirby, who said the dual exhaust is tied to the 2.0L EB engine. I think maybe Ford is using single exhaust on their hybrids because 1 pipe weighs a little less than 2 and they're doing everything they can to make the cars as light as possible?

  2. Dealer do not "call" Ford with changes to "Retail" orders. All changes to vehicle orders... stock, retail, fleet, special plan, etc... are always submitted via the Ford CONCEPS ordering program. If the order is already scheduled the spec change is submitted pending plant processing. The ordering Dealer will then receive an updated DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement) the following day showing that the submitted AVO (Alter Vehicle Order) changes have been processed and accepted.

Ice-capades, thank you for your vast knowledge of the Ford ordering process and for sharing it with those of us who have no idea how Ford's system works. Having said that, can you please explain to me what 'balanced out" and "job last" means. Thanks.

  3. Well that's a good sign -- the question is.... is the color noted on the sticker the one you finally decided on?

Sadly no, the color on the sticker is platinum white. I had finally decided on sterling gray so now I have 2 options. 1) take the platinum white when it comes in or 2) order a new one in sterling gray and waitttttt....... :waiting: Although I am working with a Ford regional customer svc mgr and he may be able to make my order a priority 01, which should speed things up. I am leaning heavily toward placing the new order. I'm hopeful that HyTi orders are moving faster now. Or am I fooling myself??

  4. This comes from a new topic started by ice-capades on March 5th:

Initial information for the 2014MY Fusion is that Job #1 at the Mexico plant is 07/15/2013 with Job #1 at Flat Rock set for 08/26/2013. Before anyone asks, there is no information available yet for the 2014MY and the 2014 Fusion Order Guide will not be available for several months yet! I'll post additional information as it becomes available.

  5. Yesterday at my dealer I saw a FF SE with dual integrated bright exhaust, which I was comparing with the exhaust of a new FF Energi sitting next to it. Although I am still disappointed in Ford for not giving the HyTi dual exhaust, now that I have seen the two side-by-side I know that I can live with the plain single exhaust. The FF SE was very dirty and the "bright" dual exhaust tips were almost completely black with road dust, dirt or whatever. They looked nasty! For those of you who are considering spending an arm and a leg on converting your exhaust....keep those tail pipes clean and shiny! :camera:

  6. I think it's the same way, grab a VIN of the above type from a local dealer's stock and I think it will still show as a Transit Connect.

I went to ETIS and input a VIN on a FF Titanium non-hybrid that arrived at my dealer yesterday. ETIS has the correct vehicle description except where the name Ford Fusion Titanium should be it says Transit Connect 2002 and it shows a photo of a Transit Connect. Under "body line", it also says Transit Connect, and the "body style" is a "4 Door Saloon." Is "saloon" a typo or is that what they call a "sedan" in UK? Also of interest, I noticed the build date was 1-03-2013 and as I mentioned before, the car just arrived at the dealer yesterday. It was built 11 weeks ago! I hope all of us anxious Ford customers don't have to wait 11 more weeks before we get our HyTi's :waiting::rant2::cry:

  7. Thanks everyone for your input. It's interesting to read about your own thought process and experiences in choosing your perfect color. I finally realized that either way I won't be disappointed. Whether it's white platinum or sterling gray I am going to love my new car. So now I am just waiting to hear which one it will be!

  8. Add me to the list of VERY DISAPPOINTED Ford customers who were expecting to get dual exhaust on their HyTi AS WELL AS the cool aluminum brake and gas pedal covers. Not to mention, I also think the spoke wheels are ugly. WHY does Ford not offer a choice of wheels on their "high end" Fusion??

Taylorjd, if you find that it is possible and not outrageously expensive to convert the single exhaust to dual, I will talk to my Ford dealer about making the change on my Fusion too.

  9. Has anyone reading this done what I just did: change your mind on the color of your special order car only to change your mind again the very next day?? My build date is March 25 and on Tuesday of this week I called my dealer and asked to change the color of my HyTi from sterling gray to platinum white thinking that in the long run I would be happier with platinum white, even though my first instinct had been to go with the sterling gray because both my husband and I really liked that color.

The dealer contacted Ford and was able to make the change. The very next day (yesterday) I went to a different dealer and spent 15 minutes studying a sterling gray and platinum white fusion sitting side-by-side on the lot. That's when I realized I made a big mistake. I called my dealer and asked him to call Ford back and switch my order back to sterling gray. I feel so bad to put the dealer through this hassle, although he has been very kind about the whole thing.

As of today the dealer has not heard back from Ford as to whether he can make any further changes to my order. He said he should have an answer by next Monday orTuesday. Since my build date is 10 days away, which means a window sticker ought to be generated in about 5 days, does anyone know whether it's too late to make another color change at this point? :banghead:

  10. So my wife has been driving our Hybrid pretty much since we got it, and she's been averaging about 34 mpg pretty steadily. The last couple days, he normal commute has suddenly hit about 38mpg average. Not sure what the cause of it is. It kicked in mid-tank, so I not it's not a different fuel.

Very strange. Typically, I've been getting about 5mpg better than her when I drive, so I'll see if it translates to a 43mpg for me. If it does, I think I'll get over my MPG annoyance factor I've had so far.

    Mileage was about 1400.

    Temperature?

    broncosCA,

I also live in California and when I read your post I had the same thought that akirby had -- maybe it's the outside temperature. I don't know where you live in California but here in San Diego the weather has warmed up considerably over the past few days. If it's become warmer in your area that might explain the improved MPG.

  11. You are so right! I started using his service a couple of years ago when I ordered the car I will be trading. The rules have expanded since then because of idiots taking advantage of his time. I read the rules through every time I need to start tracking again to make sure I don't miss anything!

My dealer laughs at me for knowing all this stuff. I told the sales manager they need to be on here too, and perhaps send customers to it. They are good about updates, but they don't necessarily go get the visibility report on a set schedule like some do. (at least that I know of)

What would be really cool is if Ford would make the order process so you can log in an track your vehicle yourself. Perhaps get a PIN when you order it that can be used to set up access? What would be REALLY cool is if you could get a photo or video of the last step of the car rolling out the door or something. I'd be hooked!

I am terrified of accidentally breaking one of Cyberdman's rules and being berated by him! And at the same time I love him for how helpful he is when I don't screw up ;)

I LOVE the idea of receiving a PIN with my order that would allow me to track my car from start to finish. Brilliant! I wouldn't need to bother anybody at Ford for information...especially Cyberdman.

  12. That information is a placeholder until the system has real information about your VIN. Search around these threads about Etis - apparently it is an outdated system in the US - but used for some UK information. Our car information still shows up by VIN, but even after you are built and you get details they aren't all 100% correct. It's main use is to just kind of know when your car is built - the details will populate within just a day or two.

    Thank you gdn

  13. I received my weekly update from the Ford Regional Customer Svc Mgr. this morning. My car is officially scheduled to be built on 3/25/13. But after seeing this posted by ice-capades in a different thread:

Here's the latest 2014 Fusion information available...

04/15/2013 2014MY Order Bank Open Date

    05/16/2013 2014MY Scheduling Begins - Hermosillo Plant

    07/17/2013 2014MY Scheduling Begins - Flat Rock

    07/15/2013 2014MY Job #1 Date - Hermosillo Plant

    08/26/2013 2014MY Job #1 Date - Flat Rock Plant

There is no additional information available at this time regarding any changes for the 2014MY Fusion or about the vehicle production at Flat Rock.

I am now considering waiting for a 2014 HyTi. Especially if it will have dual exhaust tips and a choice of wheels. Decisions, decisions....

  14. If you go on the Ford site and order a brochure, they are apt to send you one with a $750 coupon inside good towards the purchase of a car. This coupon is good to use along with any other incentives that are available. Did anyone else get a coupon?

I called Ford about a week ago and requested a brochure. The woman said there may or may not be a coupon in the one I receive. When I asked how Ford determines who gets the coupons she was vague about it. She said the marketing department sends them to "certain Ford customers". My brochure hasn't arrived yet.

  15. Hmmmm.....should I wait another 5-6 months and buy the 2014 HyTi??? It's kinda tempting since I've already waited 3+ months anyway. Anyone else contemplating the same thing?
