  1. Got my Fusion Energi Titanium today! Enjoying it for the most part, but trying to figure out a few things in the technology end of things. I am pretty tech savvy, but one thing I can't figure out for the life of me is how to install apps. Do I need a special app on my Android phone or can I just download an app that is on my phone already, like Pandora. Thanks for your help!

  2. Found an electrician that is not going to charge me an arm and a leg to put the charger on its own circuit and trench out to my driveway...so I am going to go ahead with the 240V. This will be kept outdoors, so I am looking at the Clipper Creek LCS-25 for $595 and the Leviton EVB32-8ML for $899. Besides the $300 price difference are there any other differences between the two that would support spending the extra monies?

  3. There are some good threads on this subject at the Energi owners forum: http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/forum/7-batteries-charging/

Some things to get you started...

    • You do NOT have to go through the dealer/geek squad/Mr. Electric triumvirate if you don't want to. The only thing that gets your is a Ford branded charger and a higher bill.
    • You can get any aftermarket Level 2 charger that meets your needs. They can range from $600-1000. It seems the best deal right now is a Clipper Creek model for $595. You'll see it referenced on the Energi forum.
    • You can have any electrician install the 240v outlet/connection for whatever charger you get. This could save you some money. Certainly over paying Geek Squad $199 to come out and take pictures then just refer you to Mr. Electric for the actual work. That is a really messed up partnership.
    • It will cost more to run the electric out to your driveway but mainly materials and labor. If you can, the best bet is installing a 240v outlet and get a charger that simply plugs in to it. Then if you should ever move you can take the charger with you with little hassle as compared to wiring it directly into the electrical.
    • There is a Federal tax credit available on the cost of a Level 2 and the installation charges. It is for 30% of the costs up to $1000.

As for whether or not it is worth it to you, it depends on your driving habits. For me, it works just fine to get home at 6PM and not need to use the car again until 6AM and just use the included 110v convenience charger. It takes about 7 hours to charge a fully depleted battery. To pay upwards of $1000 to have that go from 7 hours to 2.5 is just not worth it to me. Where I would gain a greater benefit is if I could recharge at work as my one-way commute depletes my electric range. If you get home with a depleted battery and then regularly still make a bunch of other driving trips where a quick charge to give you a few electric miles would be worth it, then you may benefit from a Level 2 charger. If you get home and the car sits in the garage for 10-12 hours before going out again, then you should be fine using the included 110v unit in a regular outlet.

On the topic of that 110v unit, Ford recommends a "dedicated" outlet that has nothing else running off the same breaker. I believe the unit draws 12amps so you're looking at a minimum 15amp circuit breaker but 20 is recommended.

Got a call yesterday and my car is in!! Now I really have to make a deicsion and I'm going to go with the 110v as charging overnight is more than ok for me. However the same trenching will need to be done to install this outlet as it would for the 240v which would still cost me well over a $1K.

The electrician could install the outlet on the same landscaping lighting that is already out by the driveway tough. This lighting, since it is flourescent only takes a maximum 2-3 amps. It is on a 40amp timer by the electric panel which we schedule it to go on when from dusk to dawn. My question is would it hurt the car if we had the outlet on this same breaker. It definitely appears to have more than enough "ampage". Thanks!

  4. Just got some estimates to put a level 2 charging station in. Since my driveway is long (no garage) and the car is parked 60 ft from the house, there would need to be a lot of trenching work plus a sub-panel put in. The cost for the electric work would be about $2K, which if it included the unit I would do.

I do have another option that would cost only $250-300. Have pier lights where I park the car and the electrician can split the line and add a 120v outlet onto the pier bricks. This seems like a better alternative for me as I will only be charging the car overnight anyway. However, can I charge the car on the same circuit as these lights (they only take 2amps total as they have fluorescent bulbs) or does the car need its own separate circuit? And how many amps does the Fusion Energi use when its charging? Hope this all makes sense! Thanks -

  5. As for the Private Cash Coupons. I had one when I made my original order, then it expired (of course). So since about mid February I've been ordering a brochure nearly every week. I've ordered from the Web, from calling Ford and from the online Chat. Lately since I've been seeing more and more people getting them I ramped up my efforts ordering a new brochure every day. In the past I had ordered in my name and my wife's name but I kept to using 1 of 2 emails each time. This last week I ordered them in my kids name but used a different email address that I hadn't used in the past. Turns out just the other day that new email address got the coupon and the funny thing was that my other email address got the same email sans any coupons...

Needless to say, I'd order a brochure using a different email address than you've used in the past and see what happens!

Just did mine. Hope I get the offer!

  6. Like I said - you're eligible before they even mail the brochure. Just have the dealer check Vincent with your name.

What is Vincent? Am going to try and find this now as my car is not in yet. Could always change to White and use the coupon to pay for the color upgrade!

  7. Looking into home charging options for the Fusion Energi. I dirve way too far to just drive on electric so that's why I am getting this model, and most importantly being able to go in the HOV lane by myself! It seems that Honda and Toyota have deals with Leviton for the quick charging station that includes the station itself and installation. The installers do not support Ford though and we have to go to Geek Squad, where they don't know what's going on as well.

Had an electrician over the house and he says it would be waste of money to do this, somewhere around $2K plus to bring the station out ot my driveway. he suggested a regular outlet for a few hundred bucks. Anyone else famialir with the charging sations and is it worthi it to spend the extra $$$, alot of extrea $$$ to get the officla Ford Charging station?

  8. They really do - stand out more when passing them on roads, around corners in dark parking garages and make them more visible to everyone including pedestrians.

It's also an insurance discount in our state. Hope they fix this!

  9. Sorry to hear that! Within three hours of picking up my Lexus GS late last year, a rock hit my windshield and shattered the whole thing. Got it replaced, but it was a big psychological thing to get over since I felt like my car was not new within hours of driving it! It got beter though and I did get over it!

  10. Ordered a Fustion Titanium on Feb 12, got the VIN on 2/22 and a build date of 3/4. This week build date updated to 3/11 - then yesterday got the "Sent to Plant". Window sticker finally available this morning - VIN - 3FA6P0K91DR267161 http://fordlabels.webview.biz/webviewhybrid/WindowSticker.aspx?vin=3FA6P0K91DR267161

The Window sticker shows a $100 price increase on 2 options - Moonroof, Active Park Assist, and a $200 increase on the Driver Assist Package.

I just build the car again on ford.com and the prices have not gone up there. I also do not see the 110 outlet listed at the top and it typically is for cars that have it and it should be on this one. It looks like the demand of these options is going to drive more profit.

Could this be connected to Job2 in any way? Maybe signify the start of that? or just random increases?

Need to finish going through the information at the top to see what else might have changed. Need to find a Gas Titanium sticke to compare to it - will find one from the ford locator pages.

Just ordreed mine. Since I didn't want the one they had on the lot, which was Black, I got one that was dealer ordered already and paid $400 more total.

  11. 2013MY & 2014MY Model Changeover Timing

    • 08/26/2013 - 2014MY Job #1 Date (Flat Rock)

So does this mean that ordering for 2014's has already begun? If so, are there big discounts on the 2013?

  12. Why not push for a bigger discount on the '13 due to depreciation?

When does the 2014 models go on sale? I thought it would wait until after September at the earliest.

A couple of quick pics I took just to get them posted here.

    Some comments quickly:

1 - fit and finish = spectacular. All fender/hood/trunklid gaps are good and even. No rattles or weird noises.

2 - pickup = nice. Very very slight delay when going from a standing start. Very slight impression of the turbo kicking in.

3 - ride = incredibly smooth and quiet.

4 - handling = very good on the highway - responds to inputs as expected.

I'll post a more detailed commentary when I get some time.

    Thanks

Looks good. I just ordered a silver and was having doubts about the color after seeing the White one all over the place. How has the color held up? Easily hide dirt? Thanks!

  14. Ordered my Fusion Energi Titanium and can't wait for it to arrive. Said it was built 4/27, but not sure what that might mean in terms of when it arrives at dealiership. Got a Ignot Silver, but looking at the pictures of the White one makes me second guess. I can switch as the dealer also has three White ones coming in at the same time. Anxious to ditch my Prius and drive in a "real" car!
