  1. Hi everyone,

I was tired of the black hole that is our console and decided to tame it. Used 2 plastic cutting boards and foam board for a template. Also added a pouch for an ipod since my Avic had ipod controls. And a flashlight holder on the lid. That's about it. Well, there is an amp under the console too, but that is a whole other story. Check out the pics.

Notes: I would use nylon next time instead of poly as nylon can be bought or dyed black. I might would rearrange the configuration a little different if I had to do it again. Was very time consuming to make. Surely there is an easier way than cutting up plastic. Vacuum forming, maybe? Molds and pouring plastic?

Anyway, worked out well for what I need and hope the pics give you some good ideas. What do y'all think?

GRRRR, pics not working right for me today. Here is a link to pics: https://picasaweb.google.com/chadeco...eat=directlink

I like the black hole comment, when I bought the truck the saleman actually pitched it to me that it could hold a 12 pack of beer. I like you idea.

  2. I tried to get a service manual for the 2003 Expedition, but couldn't find one locally.

I need to replace the outside keypad (to get into the vehicle). Does anyone know how to do this? I took the entire inside door panel off, however I can't see any way to get high enough in the door to get that outside piece of trim off with the keypad on it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT - I tried popping off the black trim and ended up breaking a piece of plastic (big shock). So now I have to get the black trim that the keypad mounts into, AND still need to replace the keypad. Since I only broke part of it, I still don't know how to take the black trim off properly, so any help would be appreciated.

I had the dealer replace mine on a 2003 expedition

  3. My 2003 XLT 4X4 just turned 200,000 and it is running like a champ.

I got 120,000 on my 2003 XLT 2X4 and running strong. I just replaced shocks al around, upper control arms and lower ball joints. Still happy with it and now riding smoother.

  4. I have a 2003 Expedition. When I drive by a FAA radar system, the gauges on the instrument panel will go crazy. It does not happen every time but probably about 80% of the time. The gauges will go from one extreme to the other several times. This vehicle had some other electrical problems years ago but they were able to fix them. This is not a major problem, the expedition still runs great. But it does get annoying. It even zeros out the trip odometer. Has anyone had this problem and/or know a fix?

I'm more concerned with the effects of the RADAR system on your body if its strong enough to induce electrical system issue on your truck

  5. If I remember correctly the IAC being dirty or worn out will not set a code. If you have a vacuum leak and you stated the CEL works you'd have a code, but sometimes a code will be stored even without the CEL flashing. You can go to almost any parts store and buy a scan tool - I'd raccomend one that stores / shows "pids". The OBD2 connector should be under the dash just to the right of your steering column. Investing in a scan tool will pay for itself in the long run. As far as changing the PCV go to your local Ford dealer and buy the pcv and tube assembly Ford base number 6C324 I beleive. Most common vacuum leaks on the 5.4 are caused by the 90% rubber elbows used on the PCV tube, second would be the tube from the VMV (vapor management valve) on the firewall to the intake.

    Good Luck

I had this same issue twice now and it's been the VMV on the firewall both times

  6. I have a 2013 Edge with the vista moon roof. I brought the car back to the dealer 6 months after owning it because the headliner by the passenger front window was fraying/sagging in a small spot. They tried to adjust but no help, and then sent out email to Ford to see how to pursue. Email came back to fix but dealer was not happy and ordered a new head liner. After new headliner was installed it still had the same area that looked like it was sagging. Sent back to dealer and another email was sent out to Ford. Response was a less then desirable look to the headliner is normal. I'm not happy with that answer for a $40K plus vehicle. Anyone else having headliner issues??

  9. Like everyone else, I had the seat stains in my 2008 Escape. I finnally got fed up with them and the dealer was useless so I tried this.

Sprayed it on to the point of wetting the entire seat and them scrubbing with a nylon brush. They look great and the stains appear to be gone. Hopefully after drying for 24 hours they look as good.

    Thanks for the info
