  1. I posted this elsewhere, but here is my response to another mpg inquire:

A 2013 SEL 3.5 FWD here, only had it for since end of December, so less than 3 months. In upstate NY, Buffalo/Rochester where it's been a nasty winter. I commute 100 miles round trip weekdays. I am averaging 23 mpg on that commute. I'd say about 1/3 state 2 lane highway, 1/3 interstate, and 1/3 village or city. Not very hilly. I check what the on board computer says & compare to actual to get the average 23. The computer is a bit optimistic, but not too bad. I have about 6500 miles on it now, so just sneaking up on Break-In. The mpg seems to be getting a bit better, but then again the snow is diminishing & it is gettin a bit warmer, both factors will have a positive impact. 300 mile road trips that are mainly interstate will give me around 26 or 27, and that's at 70mph. I am fairly conservative in terms of acceleration and overall agressiveness. (save that stuff for the scooters).

I am pleased with these results. I hope by 10,000 on the clock it will get maybe 1 or 2 mpg better, but even if not I am ok. I think I do better than EPA on the highway, but worse than EPA city. I am enjoying the ride an awful lot, just a couple bugs but nothing serious. No issues with MFT, and I like the nav as well. Let's put it this way: I'd recommend an Edge to anyone & I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

  2. I ordered my Edge at the end of September (2014). I was told 6 to 8 weeks, and that appears to be correct as they are now telling me end of November. They even sent me the VIN. Is there a web page that we mere mortals can access to see the progress? Also, when will a window sticker become available? I am anxious to get my car, but I'm not beside-myself. It will arrive in due time, and I still like my Pacifica. Not to mention that my wife is kind enough to let me drive her Fusion.

  3. Well oddly, it doesn't say NAV on the Oasis main page. However, it does list it in HVBoM. So it should have it. Is the card installed in till you hear it 'click' in with the sticker UP? Does the rest of the media hub work?

It is possible, when it was reprogrammed in November '13 that it was done incorrectly and NAV was deleted accidentally. If so, the dealer has to contact Ford to get it put back on their server, so that they can properly reinstall NAV. This can take up to a week as they are VERY slow to update the servers with the right info.

Yes the SD is clicked in label up. I connected my Moto-X android phone through the usb cable & it does play mp3 music files, but it is rather slow to find & index them. I don't have anything to check the other media hub ports. It also has someone else's media devices listed on one of the screens, so apparently never properly cleaned up. I think you are probably right about an incorrect reprogramming. Supposed to go to the dealer Monday, but I will have this conversation with him first, may save a trip to the waiting room. Thanks for the help!

PS: HVBoM is what, something Bill of Material? How does a neophyte get one? I guess that's what Mercedes calls a Vehicle Master. The parts guys used to print you one if you asked.

  4. I think I'd buy a Mondeo Wagon that looks as good as this, in Ruby Red.

I have always liked the versatility of a wagon. I've had Benz, Volvo & Passat wagons, & even a Peugeot 404 once. Seems I'm always hauling something somewhere. If this car were available I would have seriously considered it instead of our new (to us) Fusion or even the Edge I have on order. For it to take the place of the Edge it would have to sit a little higher than the Fusion sedan. I'm 6' 1" and & prefer to not drop down into a car anymore. Would need good gross weight capacity (good rear suspension) & good cargo tie-downs like a Volvo XC70. Someone said the wagon would probably run an extra 1500 over sedan, that sounds about right. Marketability? Just because I like them doesn't mean anyone else will, but VW seems to move a fair number of Passat & Jetta wagons, & MB just came out with a small $35,000 wagon, so I would think it would go. I liked the Taurus X as well, but I already had my Pacifica at the time. I like this wagon, to my eye the design is quite pleasing from all angles. I would also be willing to advise Ford in this matter should they feel that they need my help. I'm just that kind of guy.

  5. So now your approach is: The window sticker says that it has navigation, the A4 map card is in place, FIX IT.

Well nobody wants to be a PITA (well I don't anyway), but I do think that it should be on there & working. I am choking on the dealer saying that the window sticker is wrong, but I suppose it is remotely possible. They are going to try to get it working on Monday

  6. The window stickers aren't wrong about how it left the factory. This may seem like a silly question, but did you check the VIN number to make sure it matches the window sticker?

Did it come with a bumper to bumper warranty? If so that's a defect for sure (if the VIN matches).

Yep, that's the VIN. And it has lots of warranty left.

  7. The sticker shouldn't be wrong, if indeed that is the correct sticker. PM me your VIN and I can see what it should have. Since its a used car, the nav card may be missing, or there is something else going on.

I can't PM because I'm a newbie....must have 5 posts to PM. Here's the VIN anyway. I think it's on the window sticker as well.

Purchased at a reputable Ford dealer, still has lots of warranyt left

    thanks

  8. We just entered the Ford universe with a 2013 Fusion SE for my wife. Bought it at a good local dealer. It was a Ford "reacquired" vehicle with only about 11,000 miles on it. Reacquired due to multiple oil leaks, but Ford finally replaced the motor, and that was good enough for me, so now my wife has it & is enjoying it. It is really nice, very comfy & well equipped.

Now here's the weirdest thing: The original window sticker http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=3FA6P0HR8DR198718 indicates that it has the $795 Navigation option. However the car does NOT have navigation. The MyTouch screen upper right tab says "Information" instead of "Navigation", and the dealer says that it just doesn't have navigation.

So, is a window sticker ever wrong? Is it possible that the navigation just needs to be activated somehow?

The day after taking delivery we took a 5 day trip, part of which skirted New York City, and I'll tell you what, the 8" Nav screen would have been really cool instead of holding on to my phone to follow GoogleMaps!

Anyone have knowledge on this? Thanks in advance.

  9. Hello Ovals,

Been around all sorts of cars for a long time (Sunbeam, Alfa, Volvo, Benz, etc), but never had a Ford. Suddenly we have a 2013 Fusion for my wife and I am expecting to take delivery on a 2014 Edge in the next few weeks (on factory order). I have a small cabinet making company in Rochester NY, and I believe that a nation can build and sustain wealth & prosperity only through manufacturing. So it's a natural to go to Ford. My old Chrysler Pacifica served me well, but they are now Fiat, and after GM boned me on the plastic manifold problem with our '99 Park Ave I won't go to them ever again.

The Fusion is really nice, and I will be posting a question on that car. I am really excited about the Edge. It's an SEL with leather, my touch, and BLIS.

    USA!
