  1. I have been trying to find the vacuum leaks this issue. This symptom is interesting. What are your thoughts?

So I have been driving the Navigator and noticed that this will happens 100% of the time.....
When I start it up in the morning(engine cold) the AC will blow through the main vents...Always.
When I head out and stop off somewhere and start it up with the engine warm the ac only blow out through the defrost vents....Always.
    Curious what you experts think?
  2. So I have been having this issue that seems common amongst the Navigators. Every now and then the AC will stop blowing through the main AC vents and only comes out cold through the defrost top vents. From what I can see under the hood is a vacuum line that goes to this actuator (see pics) that controls the blend door. - I think? The vacuum tube from the actuator heads into the firewall. so I can't see beyond that. I noticed that when I start up the Nav and have my AC on, the rod attached to the actuator will close, and I will get cold air blowing from the main vents.

When the cold air blows only through he defrost vents I noticed that the rod attached to the actuator will remain open. ( see pics)

Do you think I should replace this vacuum actuator since I can see much beyond this?. I don't see any cracks on the vacuum line in the engine compartment.

  3. So I had the brake fluid flushed out after the pads and rotor were changed. Hoping it would fix the soft pedal I have been experiencing. The Nav obviously doesn't brake sharp like it should.
This all happened after I changed the rotors and pads. Just doesn't feel right. What could it be? Master cylinder maybe?

  4. I spent the weekend putting on rotors and pads on my 05 Nav. The Nav stops ok no rattling or squeaking. Before the install, I had a slight vibration on the steering wheel when braking downhill. No more of that.

The only issue is when I brake. It feels very soft and spongy. I can't get that sharp fast stop. I have the original brake fluid in it. Could it be the old  fluid thats causing this soft spongy feeling?

    Thanks!

  5. So this morning we decided to drive over to Cracker Barrel. It was a cold morning here in Franklin Tennessee. My wife put on the rear window defroster due to ice on the window. We were on the road five minutes and Boom! - the rear window shattered. Such a loud explosion. I guess the window heating coils malfunctioned. The window will be replaced tomorrow but Im worried that this will happen again. What should I do as far as troubleshooting?

    Thanks!

  6. Its my wifes NAV so Im getting familiar with all the bells and whistles. So I went out for take out lunch and started playing with the side mirror controls. I started playing with the folding switch but nothing happened. Kept fooling around with it and all of a sudden I saw the passenger side mirror housing move a bit! Like it wanted to fold. I then switched over to the driver side and wouldnt you know I got it to fold! Then went back to the other side and nothing. Then again to my side and nothing. Still have no mirror glass movement with the controls but seems like the switch has some life to it. So do you think my next step would be to replace the switch or check the wiring? Getting closer to a fix...I think?

  7. Well, I provided some misinformation about the seat. Sorry. Basically all the drivers side seat controls work with the exception of the seat moving forward or back. So they have independent motors Im a genius..lol . Ill have to do that tapping on the drive. Maybe that switch that moves the seat front and back is fried?

  8. Oh that makes sense because my drivers side seat controls have not worked in 9 years. When Ford Lincoln fixed it they said it was off track but if it goes off again they will have to charge me. So I never had it fixed. Its stuck in a comfortable spot for me. When I push the seat controls I hear nothing no clicking or anything. The thing is that the side mirrors stopped many years later?

  9. So after fixing a vacuum issue with my AC I want to tackle my side mirrors. Both mirrors dont work at all when using the drivers side controls. I ruled out any blown fuses but would like troubleshoot the problem correctly. I have received great advice here and hope I can be steered in the right direction. Is it odd that both dont work at the same time? Are they connected in a series?

As always thanks for your help!!!!

  10. Today my wifes 2005 Navigator with only 30,000 miles suddenly stopped blowing AC air from the main dash vents up front. Cold air does blow from the top portion of the drivers side main vent and the passengers side main vent but thats more for side widow defrost and is not enough to cool the NAV. I tried all the different modes on the dash controls but nothing seems to open up the blend door to get the air flowing to the main vents. I really dont want to bring it in to Lincoln for a 1000$ repair. I was thinking if there is a way to force the blend door open so cold air will flow? Also, any know where this blend acuator is on my 2005?

Appreciate any help you can provide......
