  1. ...I have an order in solely because I want Ford to succeed here. I could get the wife a Y and I have a deposit of the Cybertruck, but Ford needs my support, so she’ll get a Mach. And, honestly, she probably like it better. It’s a little less gadget-y.
  2. ..yeah, but when Elon tweeted about it going over 200k, someone asked if they had filtered out the multi- order mistakes and he replied “Yes.” Whether that is true of not, I can’t say, but that was asked about the number.
  3. ...all the production models but the Y have a $100 non-refundable order fee, down from the $1000 refundable deposit. Also note that the $2500 Model Y fee is refundable. From the website- ”Due Today $2,500 Fully refundable”
  4. ...the problem is physics. You can’t get away with building current style trucks and get reasonable range. There will be a price for normalcy and customers will be forced to choose between form and function.
  5. To clarify, it’s a modular plug that lets you use a 240v. There are 3 rates... 3mph when charging off the mobile charger at 120V/15A, 22mph when charging off the mobile charger at 240V/32A, and off the wall mounted, 32mph when charging at 240V/48A. From the best write-up I’ve seen on it: “Ford supplies each Mach-E with a portable charge cord capable of supporting 32A charging on a 40A home 240V circuit. It can also charge using a regular 120V outlet by trivially swapping charge plug “pigtails”. An optional network-connected charging station can be purchased and installed which support the full 48A charge rate on a dedicated 60A circuit.” https://electricrevs.com/2019/11/17/ford-mustang-mach-e-mainstreams-the-electric-crossover-suv/
  6. It’s a 32A charger pushing 8kW. The Mach just has not too great efficiency (about 370Wh/mi), so MPH charge rate is lower.
  7. ...probably just a 14-50 outlet. We have one for a 40A JuiceBox or my Tesla Mobile charger. I’d wager the Ford Mobile charger is modular like most nowadays and only requires a different plug to go up to 32A. My 3 does 30mi/hr, so given the efficiency difference, I’d just about guarantee the Mobile Charger does up to 32A.
  8. ...the Mach has a much bigger pack, just as predicted. 98kWh is 33% bigger, which means it is 33% less efficient, as the Y and Mach have similar ranges. I’m not trying to be a dick, I was just being realistic based on size/aero/efficiency/charge rate. Also, Res# 6273.
  9. I never stated it was the holy grail. I stated negative issues and positive ones. You’re being overly defensive. I’m merely sharing my experiences.
  10. ...I’m making a deduction based on likely charge rate and miles of range in 10 minutes. If the Ford has a 150kWh max charge rate but can only get 47mi in 10minutes, it is probably using a bigger pack (lower efficiency) as an M3 at 150kWh adds 75-80miles at that rate. (It’s also possible the Mach maxes a 120kWh or less max rate, but that would be less likely).
  11. ...yeah, damn guys who actually buy and drive the things they’re talking about and have actual experience instead of just participating in internet dick waving.
  12. ...actually using a smaller pack. They just have better components and software.
  13. ...as an owner of a M3P, I can confirm Tesla ain’t great at painting. If I could make a list of things I would tell Elon to fix, it would be paint (though my car was flawless, the interior of the fender is only partly painted and it is a bit thin) and upscale the center console finish. The console itself is solid and the mechanism for open/closing, etc is tight and quality, unlike some creaky garbage hinges on other manufacturers (my wife’s $73k MSRP CT6 comes to mind), and the standard floor mats are utter garbage. But, the interior isn’t cheap. It is tight and solid. Also, it drives amazingly and isn’t just about 0-60, like haters like to claim. It can boogie down. The tech is top notch. It is a rocket sled. It is efficient. It is even fun. I’d wager the Mach is some several hundred pounds heavier, if not a full half ton. The 3 is the Lotus Elise of sport EVs right now compared to the fatties out there. So, don't underestimate your competition.
  14. ...written by a TSLAQ short, no doubt. If anything, the Mach E shows how solid Tesla’s lead is. It is about Y sized. Less range, less performance, costs more, charges slower... The Y will be shipping months before the Mach does, maybe by half a year. And a lot of guys, me included, who own 3s, when choosing between the 2 for the wifey, are going to take into account the livability and eco-system. Do I want to be in the Supercharger network or EA? Do I want a company that sees the purchase as an entry point and continues to improve my vehicle post purchase or one that sees it as an end product to be shipped out? Do they see it as a smart phone or a laser printer? Those questions haven’t been answered yet. I look forward to watching the reveal and hope there are some hints as to how Ford is addressing those issues (or if they’re even aware of them). So, it’s obvious the Credit Suisse dude isnt aware of the market. He just thinks you put numbers on websites and you’re done.
  15. ...I dropped that joke in FIN a few months ago and no one thought it was funny. Bunch of philistines.
  16. ...they’ve reported 150s, 250s 350s, & 450s as one model. And although they share more in common now because of reuse of the cabin, in the past, there was very little overlap.
  17. Yes, it was revealed a while back, like the 3 was originally, but not final specs. You can actually build and order a Model Y right now, but the specs are all “at least” blah blah blah. It shouldn’t vary too much, as the mechanicals are known entities.
  18. ...I probably will just to hold a place in line until they do a full Model Y reveal and see which sounds better.
  19. No one knows for sure yet, but they’ve said 300mi EPA for a LR model, and 47mi of range in 10minutes or 0-80% in 45 min. So, that sounds like big pack, lower efficiency, and probably a 150kWh max charge rate. For comparison, 11min in a Model 3 on a V3 supercharger gets you from 2% to 50% (150mi added), from 2% to 20% (60mi added) takes 4minutes, or from 2% to 80% (240mi added) takes 27 minutes. So, if you were charging to 90% in both and aiming for 270mi, the 3 would take about 36min and the Mach probably right around 60min. And since the 3/Y are essentially the same, it would also be true of the Y.
  20. ...you have to realize that just about every Tesla is as fast or faster than a Mustang GT. You don’t need ludicrous mode. A guy ran a 2.998 yesterday with a Model 3 Performance like mine, after the new software update. And that is the $57k Model 3, not the $100,000 Model S. A regular non-performance AWD LR runs about 4.1s to 60/12.3-115mph qtr. Teslas are quick. In a side note, I believe the 3P has more performance available, but Tesla is just being careful rolling it out a bit at a time to test against battery degradation and motor response, since all Teslas send data back to the mothership.
  21. I doubt it. I’ve traveled 3000mi in 6 weeks in the 3. The Supercharger experience is unrivaled right now. Ford/EA has a long way to go to catch up. Further, Tesla has a team constantly improving and updating your car post-purchase. Every few weeks (like your phone or computer), your car gets better than it was a few weeks ago. That change in end-user experience will be tough for Ford to adopt. Last, I was already ready to put a deposit on a Mach for the wife if it is nice enough. It will be either that or the Y... so I’m not dissing it, just giving you my perspective.
  22. My experience thus far has been exemplary. Took me 5 minutes to get in out of the store when I bought it. It was much more enjoyable than the pressure-fest 4 hour soul-drainer that buying at a dealership can be. I don’t doubt there can be bad experiences, and I’m sure early models were probably laughably bad, but Ford’s Aviator/Explorer rework rate is a pretty good indicator that even experienced builders like Ford are not immune to line start-up issues, and that’s why I waited so long to get one.
  23. ...been waiting 3 months on a windshield for my Fiat 500e that was going to be a trade in on my M3P. Last due date promised was Dec 5th. I have over $5k sitting around doing nothing but waiting on an acoustic glass windshield. So, parts and repairs issues happen in every brand. Ask anyone with a Fiesta/Focus DCT issue about it. The dealer model doesn’t guarantee a better experience.
