  1. Flight Blue is a dark blue, in heavy shade or night it looks black, it's very obviously blue in light and in some lights a green undertone comes out which gives a little bit of teal but it's rare. I love it and have it on our aviator.

Ocean drive has a massive purple/lavender undertone. To me it looks like a Ford color, not a Lincoln one.

  2. Like another poster said, I found that having the top section and headrest all the way forward with the seatback a little more reclined than I'd normally do worked really well. Then play with the different lumbars.

I'm 5'10" and 200lbs-ish and find them superb. Just had a 5 hour trip driving a Cadillac XT 5 and appreciated the Lincoln so much more than before, that caddy is a pos and the seats feel like sitting on a cheap motel spring mattress.

  3. We have the 30 way front seats which have a unique headrest and because of that most 2nd row accessories which would hang from the back of the front seat aren't going to work. Our last car (Mercedes ML) we had folding seat trays (similar to what's built into Jags & Bentley's but they were hung from the metal headrest posts). They were great for the kids, they could fold them down for food or to hold their iPads etc.

I"ve looked everywhere but does anything like that exist for the Aviator?

  4. Thanks! And thanks for the hand-holding for an anxious new owner! When I ordered the dealer told me to anticipate 10-12 weeks for my Aviator (ordered end of Sept. expected mid Dec to early January). Now it looks like best case scenario is at least 16 weeks and they've given me a fraction of the info people here have.

    So thanks again!

  5. Are there somewhat standardized time periods between a scheduled build date (say scheduled of week x) and delivery date? I would assume that if it's scheduled for a certain week it will usually be built that week and assuming nothing is of issue then it will be put on a rail car and shipped out. Between the build week and the actual date it normally arrives at the dealer is that usually 2 weeks? 3? More?

Sorry for the somewhat inane questions, despite owning a lot of cars over the years I've never bought a new car and even growing up I think my dad did only once (and he had well over 100 different cars over my lifetime!).

Did Lincoln tell you how long to production? Thank you.

The hope was mid December delivery but that January was a real possibility.

And by the looks of it they are now scheduling into the middle of January and my truck hasn't been scheduled so I'd say that's a way offside projection. I guess best case scenario is that it's built last two weeks of January which I guess would mean a late Feb delivery? Early March? Nothing like 6 month build times...

  7. So this might be a stupid question or answered somewhere in the middle pages, if so my apologies, Looking right above it says Lincoln Aviator, Scheduling for 12/21/2020 build week. My Aviator still shows as "Unscheduled - Clean". Does that mean that my dealer didn't get an allocation for my Aviator in any of the preceding build weeks and I can know that it won't be built before January 2021? Which I guess also means it won't be delivered until sometime in Feb I guess? I ordered on Sept 29th.

  8. I've got a Lincoln Aviator Reserve on order, it's my first domestic car ever (though my dad did have a buick for about 6 months when I was 8) and second non european auto ever (I had a 2-door Toyota 4Runner when I was in highschool). Came from a Mercedes ML, cross shopping an Audi Q7 and BMW X5. Before that was a MB e-class wagon, saab, three Range Rovers...

It's going to be a really interesting next three years with it!

  9. Yes, but I think that's still computer generated isn't it? Dealer photos are usually great because they don't spend the time color enhancing it like corporate photos or ones from a magazine. That's initially what had me excited about the flight blue, it looked like a dark blue with grey tones, then you see undoctored photos and it has a huge amount of green in it.

Some of the Ocean Drive mock-ups (or the same code on other cars as shown elsewhere) have it looking much more silverish, some even a bit lavender.

  10. Does anyone have a picture (as opposed to mock-up) of Ocean Drive Blue on an Aviator?

There remains a niggly feeling in my mind that Flight Blue has too much green in it. I've only ever seen an actual 8 1/2 x 11 piece of the paint. I like navy, like grey blues but I don't want a car that looks teal most of the time.

Very interesting that the Cadillac XT6 wasn't included in this comparison.

We moved out of a Mercedes ML to the Aviator and only cross shopped the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. I agree though, for many it's a natural comparison, much more so than the Genesis.

You absolutely can buy the parts to replace your trim pieces, although they are a little pricey  There are two awesome engine turned aluminum choices, dark like in the Black Label and light like in the regular Grand Touring.  There is nothing special about Black Labels other than the perks, interior themes, some exterior trim and wheel styles.  The regular GT has all of the exterior Black Label trim features except the door inserts and mirror caps are gloss black instead of chrome.  The parts list makes no distinction between regular and Black Label for this trim,  part numbers are shown for all wood and aluminum choices.  The part numbers and pricing are available at your dealer or online discount oem parts sites like this:

This trim is below the instrument panel top cover, at the top of the front consol and at the front edge of the rear consol.  It doesn't look like it would be very difficult to replace.  You can get the full factory service manual to show you how to do it here:

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. Yes a little pricey to change over, but the dark engine turned looks so much better to me than the wood, especially with the roast interior.
