  1. Hello all, I need some advice. Yesterday I got T-boned in a parking lot. My 4 door F250 got it in the right side back door. The door isn't sealed good at the top and back due to being dented. It's going to be a while before I can get it fixed (ordering parts). Until then I need to seal the gaps. It's only 1/2 to 1 inch wide. I have seen mixed reviews on using Duct Tape. What have you used to fix a problem like this?  Thanks in advance

  2. Hello all, I have searched the owner's manual and a quick search of this forum and I have not found a torque spec for my 6.2 gas oil drain plug. I just changed my oil for the 3rd time since I bought my truck and I have a leak. The times before I just gave it a firm twist and it was good. I saw a couple of posts on another forum that had it between 12 and 17 foot pounds. My gasket looked good on the plug. So I was going to use the torque spec before I drain and add a new gasket. Thanks for any info you might have.

It could be that there is now too much brake fluid in the system, due to the fact that the new rotors are thicker than the worn ones keeping the caliper pistons in farther now.. Remove the reservoir cover and extract a small amount from both chambers. Check that the pads and springs are in place properly.

I read that too. I removed some extra fluid this morning and it didn't fix it. I think it's odd that both sides are not releasing. I think I will remove the new rotor/hubs and put the old ones back on (one side to test) and see it that fixes it.My neighbor suggested the new rotors may be out of spec and causing the problem. I did go ahead and buy new calibers and rubber brake lines but I haven't installed them yet.

  4. Hello, I need some help. I changed the front Rotors/hubs on my 2005 Ranger RWD. Now I have brake drag and my front hubs are getting hot. My old rotors needed replacing. So I went to Advanced Auto and bought a set that matched my truck. I pulled the old ones and installed the new ones. The new ones spun without any issues. After test driving a few miles I checked and the lug nuts were hot along with the dust caps. I jacked it up and now the brakes are dragging. While I had the rotors off I greased the slides. I pressed the calibers to retract the pistons. So no air should be in the line. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

  5. So the antifreeze in my truck (2019 F250 6.2 gas I just bought) is only good to 5 degrees. It looks watered down. So I want to drain the radiator and add a better mix. So here's the question, once I drain the radiator do I just add the new stuff to the overflow tank and let it draw it in? There isn't a radiator cap on this model so I can't pour the new stuff straight into the radiator. Has anyone done this before?

    Thanks for any help

  6. Hello all! I finally got a new (used) truck. I bought a 2019 F250SD XLT with the 6.2 gas engine. On the window sticker it shows a block heater. I have looked all over the front bumper/tow hooks and do not see a plug. The previous owner never used it and did not know it had one. So can someone give me an idea as to where to start looking to find it? Where is the heating element located and I can start from there. I have found many videos on the diesel engine but nothing on the 6.2 gas. Thanks!

Yeah the old way was the salesperson tells every customer they are losing money on their particular sale but somehow the dealerships would make it up with volume.  ?

The reason for large inventories is about choice and facilitating quick sales. Pre-Covid - IIRC the average person shopping for a new vehicle make their purchase within three days.  If a dealer has most models and combinations on their lot then the potential customer can't say the dealer doesn't have what they want.  It was all about keeping you on the lot and not going to the next dealer. If they could put you in the exactly what you were looking for (or close to it) then it increased their odds of closing a sale greatly.

Now they have two types of customers.  Those willing to buy from what little inventory they have at whatever price they are charging (high margin but low volume) and those willing to do a custom order (fixed/lower margin).  Now you have a situation where custom orders are high and inventory is low.  People ordering are more patient and willing to shop around. Having time to shop around should make the dealers compete on pricing but that isn't the case in every area .... yet.

I went to Ford's "Price and Build" site and built my dream truck. Then sent (emailed) the build sheet to multiple dealers and asked for their best out the door price. That made it very easy and low stress. However, I refuse to buy/order a truck without first driving it or a similar model. So I see dealers having demos on the lot to give buyers some idea of what they will get. The rest of the story is after 8 months of "Unscheduled/Clean" I cancelled the my order. Personally I won't order another truck. I'll buy off the lot.

8 months? Wow, what did you order?

I had ordered a F350 XL CCLB 4X4 6.2 gas bed delete and was told my order was "Unscheduled/clean" the whole time. But since it was a fleet order it would be produced last. No one told me this when I placed the order. So after 8 months of unscheduled/clean I cancelled the order.

Sorry about the previous reply... I should have read your post more closely and not replied so quickly!

If the Dealer cancelled the unscheduled fleet order, it's a moot point as they'll never see the vehicle. If they didn't cancel the order, it'll depend on whether it hasn't already been sold to another customer. The Dealer has no obligation to you once you cancelled the order. If the vehicle is built and received as a fleet unit and not sold to another customer, they could sell it to you if they choose to. Otherwise, they can have the vehicle re-invoiced as a stock unit and sell it for a lot more money and profit as a retail transaction.

    Hope this answers your question!

It does, thank you. I didn't know if the order would still have my name on it in Ford's order system. Or if a name is even attached in the Ford system for fleet orders. The day after I cancelled my fleet order I got a call from a retail salesman at the dealership saying he could order me a retail truck and apply some kind of discount and get the truck quicker and almost as cheap as with the fleet program. I thought he might be trying to sell me the truck I had already ordered.

Fleet orders have nothing to do with the COVP verified order program. Fleet orders have a totally different ordering, priority and scheduling process.

You keep reminding me of that (4th/5th time now?) I did not mention COVP verified order program. I asked about a fleet order. Is this tread just for retail orders? If it is, I have wasted 7 months following it.

  11. So, here's a question. I had a fleet order. I placed a $1k deposit on it. After 8 months it was not scheduled so I cancelled (emailed salesman) the order and got my $1k back. If the truck comes in, can I go to the dealership and still buy it at the price I ordered it for? I mean if they didn't cancel it it's still my order.. right? Would the dealership get in trouble with Ford for not cancelling orders and using them for dealer stock?

Question. If my F350 doesn't get produced before the 2023 are introduced, will my order be switched from 2022 to 2023? The correct production has been extended from 2/21 to now 3/14 and I'm sure it will be extended several more times.

If Ford decides not to build your 2022 order it will be cancelled, and you will have to place a new order for the 2023.

I placed and order in April 2021 for a F450 Platinum. A friend of mine ordered an F450 Lariat in August 2021 and he has a VIN# and build date 2/14/22. I ask my dealer for information as to how that can be, but they have no answers!! They can only tell me that Ford must not be building Platinum’s yet. Does anyone have an idea?

Is your order a retail or fleet order? Fleet orders go behind retail orders.

It's unfortunate your truck didn't get scheduled. Not sure about 1/2, as I got exactly what I paid for a 2016 from 6 yrs ago. Dealer also has a used 2020 F-450 on the lot for more than it cost new.

The prices you mention are why I was ordering new and selling my 2001 Chevy for more than I paid for it.  With the fleet discount I would save a lot. But the longer it takes and the more I read on this group I'm betting my truck will never be built because it is a cheap fleet order. So, 1/2 price is a little low, but I do think the truck market will return to pre-covid conditions in two years or so. With new brakes and some steering components my old Chevy will last till then.

If I were you, I'd not cancel.  Drive your Chevy until it comes in.  Don't think for a minute that your dealer cancelled the order; they will still take delivery and sell it on the lot for well over MSRP.

At this point it's the principle of it. My order is bumped by orders placed months after it was placed. I know it's a business decision but so is me not buying a Ford. And to be honest, I was nervous buying a truck I could not test drive. So, I'm going to predict in two years the truck market will be near where it was in 2018-19 and that dealer lots will be full, and prices low compared to today. I will add a flatbed to whatever I buy, so I'm kicking around the idea of finding a buildable wreck with rear end/bed damage at a discount.

  16. Fleet Order Buyers.. After 8 months of waiting and being "Clean/Unscheduled", I gave up yesterday. I cancelled my order and got my deposit back. If I had known in June that Fleet orders ran behind retail orders, I would have never placed it. My order was M1 (1st week in Dec) when I placed it and here it is 2 months past that and still not scheduled. So, I am spending $1,800 on my 2001 Chevy and plan to drive it another year or two until the truck market adjusts. Then I'll buy one of your retail order trade-ins for half of what you paid for it. Thanks in advance!  And good luck to those Fleet buyers still waiting to be scheduled.

Does anyone know when the cutoff for orders and/or production will be for 2022 my super duty trucks? Thanks

That's a good question. It has been asked before (multiple times) and the only answer is...... no one knows. The cut off for placing an order will happen a few months before mfg changes over to the next model year. If you go back a few months (of posts) and read all the posts, most all questions about orders have been asked and answered. I think someone said the info on the 2023MY will come out the middle of March. I think last year Ford stopped taking orders in Feb. But that does not mean they will do the same this year.

Just curious - why not buy an older one for that type of work?

That's what I had planned to do but used truck prices are so high right now that a used truck (3-5 years old), that's in decent shape, costs just as much as a new truck with the fleet discount. The truck I have ordered is $41K out the door! The truck I have now I bought used and have kept it 15 years. The truck before that I had for 10 years. I try to pick a good truck that will last a while.

So a company decides to allocate limited supplies to higher profit vehicles... might not be "fair" but its business. Nothing is stopping anyone from ordering retail.

I agree, it's the American Way! This is the first vehicle I have ever ordered. Also, the first time I have used the Land O'Lakes fleet discount. I am getting the truck for almost $11k below MSRP. That's why I didn't order retail. I would not pay retail price for a truck that is used on a cattle farm and will be covered in cow shit and mud most of the time. Unlike most of the trucks I see on this group my truck will be used for work and not to pull a 5th wheel or some other toy around a few times a year.

That’s interesting he claimed since the time has pasted they will not build your truck.

That's not what I meant. My week was M1 and that date has pasted. He said I will not be given a new week code, not that my truck will not be made. Next week will be 2 months past my original M1 priority. If I'm not scheduled, I'm cancelling the order and will never own another Ford product. Chips or no chips scheduling Fleet orders after all the retail is BS. FIFO is the fair way of doing it. My 21 year old chevy is still in decent condition. I'll invest a few thousand in a face lift and drive it a few more years.
