    OK, here's my timeline:

    2022 10 28: Order placed

    2022 10 31: Order confirmed

2022 12 15: Email with status (no update)

2023 01 29: Email with status (no update)

2023 05 11: Email with status (no update)

2023 06 15: Scheduled for production week of July 17

My truck was listed as "Built" on July 22, and listed as "Shipped" on July 23.

If my truck is listed for production this week, should it have been updated by now with a specific production day?  Not sure if the day is ever shown or you just know it might be built that week.

For me, my truck was scheduled for production 7/20, then a few days ago it got bumped up a day to 7/19, and when I checked it today (7/12) it got bumped back to 7/21 but now shows "In Production." ?‍♀️

The sense I get from my experience but also hearing of others' is that these scheduling reports on the order tracking website are just estimates. Think of it as a guideline rather than a rule. It'll get you in the ballpark.

  3. I've been looking into window tint that blocks infrared (IR) waves. The idea here is that when the vehicle is sitting in the sun, the window tint blocks the IR heat from turning your cabin into an oven. One product that seems to have good reviews is 3M Crystalline tint.

But that got me thinking: if it's that easy to dramatically improve the comfort of the vehicle, especially in summer, does the factory include this technology in their windows already, at least for new models (e.g., 2023 Super Dutys)? I've searched around and haven't found any definitive answers.

They don’t include this tech into their windows.  I ended up going with xpel tint and having used multiple companies in the past, not sure brand matters. Look at or ask about heat rejection rates.  My truck is full time sun in Nevada and I’m very happy with my choice.

What year truck do you have?

Yes, you are mistaken. The majority of F-Series trucks (F-150 & Super Duty) are customer retail orders and sales from Dealer stock inventory. Retail customer orders have the highest priority for scheduling and production. The process for scheduling Fleet orders is different from the retail order process and is not part of the Dealer's allocation. Over the past couple of years, due to the pandemic, increased commodity, supply chain issues and other factors, Fleet production was actually reduced in order to maximize scheduling and production of customer retail orders.

Interesting. Thanks for the correction. Just for clarification, are you saying that the majority of F-150 customers and the majority of Super Duty customers are retail orders?

Am I also mistaken when I read that Chevrolet + GMC makes more HD/SD trucks than Ford?

I think you are right. GM is certainly doing something right to sell the most HD trucks.

But I think we on this forum think that Ford is doing something better (although, maybe not ability to pump out trucks quickly). I don't think anyone is saying that Ford is doing a great job at fulfilling Super Duty sales orders. I think the point being made is that calling for the CEO to be canned is not appropriate just because we have to wait for our trucks. Ford makes lots of vehicles, and there are lots of aspects to selling those vehicles other than quickly fulfilling orders (quality, design, etc.). Demanding the CEO to be fired is an overreaction to you waiting for your truck.

    Or put on the seatbelt……

I find these comments unhelpful. If the question was, "I ride exclusively on the interstate, speed 20 over the limit, and I like to watch videos while driving, how can I get rid of the dinging," then, yes, the answer should be, "Wear your seatbelt."

But there are many instances where the annoyances of a seatbelt outweigh the benefits. For example, driving through empty fields with lots of gates, launching a boat, backing up to a trailer, etc., do not require a seatbelt and the dinging can be more than annoying.

If you don't want to help, then fine. But adding snarky remarks like, "Just wear your seatbelt," is not helping and just trying to start something.

I know that this has been hit on ad nauseum already, but I find it very frustrating that Ford is not sending update emails. I received an email Dec. 15 stating, "Now here’s our promise to you. We know that waiting for delivery of your Ford is far less fun than actually driving it. So, we commit to updating you as soon as we can, at least once every 45 days regarding your vehicle’s production schedule status. No matter what." (I added emphasis.) I received another email Jan. 29 saying, essentially, "No update, but we haven't forgotten about you." It's been more than 45 days since then, and I have heard nothing.

I don't need emails every 45 days saying that they still haven't made my truck. But when they come out themselves and make that promise, I expect them to keep that promise, especially given how easy it is to send out automated emails.

    It's annoying. Rant over.

I have a F-350 XLT CC SW 4x4 ordered and it is scheduled to be built the week of 4/18.  I dropped wheel liners and splash guards to help get it scheduled and it seemed to work.  I am now looking at mud flap options and I'm not really liking the factory style splash guards.  I like the look of the Gatorback mud flaps.  They are pretty pricey but do look nice to me.  Has anyone gone with these?  Any other suggestions?

The dealer is going to order and install the wheel liners when the truck comes in.  I am thinking of having them also install the Gatorback flaps at that time.

    Thanks

I also have essentially the same Gatorback mud flaps on my F-150. I do like them and plan to get the same (or at least the same style) for my next truck.

  12. I suspect that Ford works with aftermarket suppliers (e.g., tonneau cover companies, shock companies, seat cover companies, etc.) and provide them specs and drawings so that aftermarket parts are available when the new truck models are available (correct me if I'm wrong). Does anyone know when this happens or when companies will be able to verify that the parts that they sell for prior years will be compatible with the new 23s? I'd like to start stockpiling parts in advance of delivery so that I'm not waiting on those parts when the new truck arrives, but I'm unsure of when I can start purchasing.

  14. If you qualify for the X plan, you'll just have to shop around to find a dealership that honors the X plan pricing.  Not all dealers do.

Once you find one, you go in and select all of the options that you want and configure the truck how you want it.  From there on out it's a waiting game.  It really is easy once you find a good dealer to work with.
