StevenCaylor
hi all my 2006 navi calls for 5w20 oil...year round. why ? reason i m asking, i changed the oil myself, 4800 miles on change, only got 5 1/2 qts out, and was getting a plume of oil smoke on start up. only 18,000 miles on my navi. thanks ! ! They switched to a lighter weight oil to improve fuel economy. Ford put out a TSB stating that most of their older engines (? mid 90's and up) can use this oil provided the engines were built in the US. 4.0 V6 in the Mustang and Explorer still uses 5w30. I use 5w20 Mobil 1 in my 2000 3.8 V6 Mustang with no problems. 85K miles so far. When I did my first oil change, I also put Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in the power steering/manual transmission and Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Oil (75w90) in the differential.
