Marginal Economist
anyone ? anyone at all? I have no idea what you are talking about. I did not know Ford parts were coded to the year or vehicle line. 6000's are engines. 7000's are transmissions. Try fordparts.com if you need a part. Yes, Ford part numbers are coded to the year and vehicle line. The prefix is the year and vehicle. The base is the type of part. The suffix is the side of the vehicle or other instructions such as PTM (paint to match). Many part numbers start out for certain models and new models use them and the part numbers do not change. Motorcraft part numbers are coded to the different product they are (Y=A/C). Hesitant to say more being that this is an open forum. FCSD has many ongoing counterfeit parts investigations. Wouldn't want to help the bastards out. My advice to the original poster.....call a dealer.
