Following is Mario Guerreso's Presidents Report from the May 2006, Local 245 Beacon. Put the following article next to the August 23rd Detroit Free Press article by Sarah Webster and notice the striking differences. Notice how statements were completely taken out of context and misrepresented. Also in the Free Press article, the number of members at Local 245 was misquoted by hundreds, and the amount of dues calculated was off by thousands. Let this be an example, do not believe everything you read in the newspapers, go to the source, HERE IS THE SOURCE, read on:

BUYOUTS: THE RESULT OF U.S. BEING SOLD OUT

The Fallout From the Buyout’s:

Offering sums of money to get UAW members to surrender their jobs will accelerate the dismantling of the Union. These buyouts will result in a rapid reduction of UAW ranks and therefore decreased organizational bargaining power. Each buyout will represent the loss of a good paying American job that supports American ideals and American communities.

For decades, the UAW has been a bridge limiting the divide between the rich and the working class. With the UAW weakened and targeted for removal, the gap will widen overwhelmingly, leaving only the ultra-rich and the working poor. This growing divide between the classes is all according to the plan of the corporate elite and their CEO President George Bush. The American people are merely pawns of the corporations and Bush to achieve their ultimate goal.

What is good for the UAW, is good for all middle class Americans. If the UAW goes, so too does the middle class of America.

The Sell-Out’s:

The government in Washington D.C. has invited foreign corporations to set up operations in the United States. However, the standards of the U.S.A. are being sacrificed as a result. As highlighted in the January 2006 issue of the Beacon, the foreign transplant auto manufacturers, such as Toyota, hire mainly young males to work on their assembly lines. Minorities, older workers, women, and those needing unique accommodations are not included to work on Toyota’s plant floors. Diversity in the hourly workforce is not a priority at Toyota in the U.S. The true face of United States is not represented at these transplant facilities. Why would the United States government encourage foreign corporations employing a diverse-less workforce, to replace our long-standing workforce that truly represents ALL Americans? The American automobile purchasing public must be made aware of the employment practices of the foreign transplant corporations and realize that they are a negative for the people of America. Let the truth be known.

In reality, the foreign transplant corporations are draining the United States of our values, our diversity and our communities. Meanwhile, the corporate backed government and media encourage it to happen. A “new” America resulting from this destructive invasion will NOT benefit 99% of Americans in the long run. The 1% of Americans that do benefit are the ones currently profiting from the sell out. The betrayal of the American People is underway, and it has been for quite some time. However, at some point, the effects will be irreversible.

It is ironic that the profits and resources drained out of the U.S. are creating booming economic growth in these foreign countries. Historically high growth in Japan and China is leading to a tremendous increase in the amount of oil they consume. This huge increase in consumption is the driving force behind the increase in the price of oil. It is supply and demand, plain and simple. These countries are demanding much more oil as their economies grow while the supply of oil is limited. It is a fact, that purchasing foreign made products, including foreign automobiles assembled in America, and sending U.S. dollars overseas growing the Asian economies, is actually driving the price of oil higher. This is a critical piece of information that American consumers are prevented from knowing. The corporate and foreign lobby pays good money to ensure that the medias and our elected representatives prevent this simple concept from becoming widely known. Let the truth be known. Buy cheap foreign made goods, and the price of oil goes up.

Short Term Gain, Long Term Pain:

American consumers have been conditioned to take the bait of purchasing cheaply made goods from overseas. The corporate sponsored medias have convinced the American consumer that this sell out is good because it makes the price of products cheaper, saving consumers money. The government and media outlets have failed to educate Americans about the true long-term costs of trading their future for a short-term price break. Stagflation is possible, as Asia becomes an enormous consumer market, sucking in the world’s resources and driving prices higher. The hollowed out shell of American Industrialization will be vulnerable when the cheap prices go away while our real jobs and industries have been sent overseas. Short term gain = Long term pain.

This is not just recycled gloom and doom people. Believe me, I would much rather be reporting to you the successes of our government and industries. However, I refuse to let the working people bear the blame for the present situation, while the culprits creating the dismay profit from our demise.

Coming in the next edition of the Beacon:

The UAW has become a popular target as of late. Our wages and benefits have been falsely pointed out as causing financial difficulty at the Big Three. In fact, the cost of labor is less than 7% of the cost of a new vehicle. In the next edition of the Beacon, it will be clearly demonstrated that we, the Union, are among the cheapest costs in the production of a new vehicle. I have said it before, and I will say it again, “You, the Union, are not the problem.” We are less than 7% of the cost of vehicle, but we are made to feel as if we are the primary contributors to cost of a new automobile. We will let these truths be known!

In Solidarity,

Mario Guerreso

President

UAW Local 245

How can you say the best thing for the membership is buyouts? Can you see there future or do you only care about yours. Most of the people on this post are really company people who's stab their momma in the back for a penny. Sad to say but a measly 100, 000. is not going to support someone forever. And when the moneys gone then what. I guess you don't care as long as you get yours. Thats not a real union person. REal union people care about people.

I will have to agree with buyouts being a good thing. If you have saved up and havent pissed all you hard earned money away then the buyout is a good thing for all. If you have been spending all your money on stupid shit not realizing that the shit hole you work in could close someday then it is your own damn fault. So whine and cry all you want but bring on the checks Ford. Show us the money !!!!!

Go share your UAW propaganda with your fellow UAW presidents/chairmen while in Detroit.

We are not sell outs we are survivors and will survive very well WITHOUT the UAW. This union has been exposed to be the useless organization that the rest of the world saw a long time ago. Now the members see that there is nothing the UAW can do but talk & lie, talk & lie with more talk & lies.

The UAW chairmen/presidents claim every other week that they are traveling to meet on buyouts.

What is there to meet on?

If Ford is offering buyouts, the workers want them. No reason for a meeting.

Leave those jokers from the UAW out of it, just another excuse for them to spend union funds on travel.

Amen, buddy!!! If the UAW is worried about losing members, (Monthly dues), then why don't the prepare for it just as those of us who are losing our jobs are doing. CUT THEIR BUDGET!!!! Quit having meetings that are paid for by the members, and if you do need them scale down the spending just like we are doing to prepare for whats ahead.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all that the UAW has gotten us in the past. But these are different times. We need to wake up and realize that something has to be done if anyone in this company is going to survive. Our union makes sure they call everyone "UNION BROTHERS AND SISTERS". Would you treat your brother or sister like this? Would you stand in the way of a possible path to recovery for your brother or sister who was hard-working and just another victim of downsizing? I sure hope not.

PLEEASE, Cut that check!!!

TCAPWIFEY: What the hell are you talking about? Everybody knows the $100,000 buyout won't support most people for the rest of their lives. It's not designed to be a retirement. It is to help you so you don't end up in a financial bind, (lose your house, etc.). Or help get by while you change jobs, careers, etc.

Well no shit holms...what do they want a winning lottery ticket. Yes you will have to go out and get a normal job to sustain your self and family. It may pay more or less but it likely you'll have to do some work for once.

Freepress locals fight UAW buyouts

of course the union is gonna fight the buyouts.....that is less union dues they get to steal from the real workers in this industry. that may mean less free trips to vegas, and less pussy from the legal prostitution. that how our union spends our dues

Just a thought, but with technology today, why do they have to travel at all? Can't they do conference calls, Internet assemblys? it seems to me that the purpose of this meeting is simply to exchange information, I really doubt we will know anything before September 12th, 14th, 18th whatever.

Ford has town hall meetings over the TV, I would think the UAW could do it over the Internet.

I wonder if Tony Pinelli and Mario Guresso are related? :titanic:

All I can say is that this whole thing looks like a giant train wreck. Further proof that local union reps should avoid discussing sensitive issues with the media.

"No comment" goes a long way.

uawworker is a fraud. He is trolling.

grindliner1968 exposed him earlier today.

I plan to ignore him from this point forward.

It is not I who is the fraud. Compare these two situations and then ask yourself, who is the fraud.

Consider the assembly line worker in the assembly plant. During the course of an eight-hour shift, he adds nearly the entire eight hours in value to the product being produced. In a one-minute period, the period by which he or she is measured, at least 55-58 seconds of work or product value is performed. The remaining 2-5 seconds are to enable to return to the beginning of the workstation for the next incoming job. Each minute a vehicle arrives and at least 55 seconds of work is performed by the assembler in that minute. The assembler is literally chained to the line. This assembler cannot use the computer, bathroom, call his wife, or perform any other personal needs, at will. This guy or gal is truly earning their $24 per hour. They are adding value to the product immediately that is actually in excess of what they are being paid. These people account for about 50% of the total hourly and salary workforce at Ford. I’m sure you would agree there is no fraud by these hard working people.

Now, consider this situation. You have well paid Ford employees (they know who they are) at locations (you know where they are) where there is no production. They get paid even more in their eight-hour shift than the assembly line worker. In an eight-hour period, most of these people do at most, about 1-2 hours of work. (Of course there are some exceptions, but it applies to the majority) The remaining 6-7 hours per day, they spend on personal affairs. The work they do adds no value to an end product. Typically, they have furniture provided by the company, a phone and quite often, a computer at their disposal. They can go to the bathroom, surf the Internet, call their wife, pay their bills, or do whatever they please on company time. Now, you would think at these locations, the union would be tight and cohesive, to protect this gig. However, the opposite is true. They have some much extra time; it leads to gamesmanship and political infighting ala. Doom/Browning, Brown/Huddleston. Perhaps they do not know how good they have it, or feel they are entitled to this situation. How do you think the assembly plant workers feel, knowing they are being paid less and doing all of the work? This is where the fraud is, being paid to add no value. Being paid, to launch negative attacks on co-workers in the same union, rather than working together to preserve the good deal they have.

Now the only leg that have to stand on, is the fact that management is doing the exact same no-thing. You can’t expect the workers to add value if management is sitting. This is the root cause of the current problematic situation at Ford Motor. A culture has been created by the other 50% of the workforce, that is counter productive. And this is at the locations where the vehicles are being developed and tested. It is not a mystery why the company is lagging in product development and innovation. The culture where this function takes place is unbalanced. It has gotten to the point where a certain group of people at this location, and they are actually the ones who do the least work, feel that they are so entitled to having it this way, they are going to create political dissent and seize power. You should be smiling and getting along with every other person there. Instead you use company resources on company time (and off company time) to launch negativity campaigns. This is not only fraud, it is the sick and wrong type of fraud.

Now imagine, perhaps someday, that Ford Motor Company is acquired by another automaker or does a joint venture with an equal size auto company. Now an outsider will be looking in. How long do you think it will be (real quick) before this counterproductive culture at these locations is noticed? Do you think it will be overlooked as it currently is? The answer is so obvious it requires no response. You are now looking at one of the causes of Ford Motor’s problems. Perhaps if more energy were spent on working together rather than fighting, and finding new and better ways to do business, it would get better. Instead you see the immature behavior fostered by this environment and it’s negative effect on product design. Which is precisely the area where the company is suffering the most. Fraud? This is beyond fraud; this is an outright infection and drain on the company. And the biggest perpetrators of this inefficiency do not believe it is they. In their mind, they are not the problem. They are real quick to point the finger at others, “It’s not me, it’s him, look at him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” In psychological terms this is known as projecting. When you cast your underlying guilt at others to deflect it from yourself. There is a whole lot of negativity and projecting going on, and not a whole lot of value adding. Actually, it is not that great of a secret. Fields even made a comment that he would “sell the furniture, if it were necessary.” That was a direct comment made to those who sit at company furniture all day, and add little value. But it’s not you, or is it? Fields and Ford know, to make themselves an attractive merger candidate, this culture has to be completely re-created. No other company, other than Ford Motor, allows this to go on. Now I know those who will attack this thought, saying it is snitching or whatever, but rather, a dose of medicine is quickly needed. Otherwise the company could die. Don’t you see it; the company and the union are both suffering, while the internal political power grabbers fail to cease. Do you want it to be like a game of musical chairs, a few people fighting over the last piece of furniture? Or do you want to change, and work collectively to preserve as many chairs as we can? It is a simple, dichotomous choice. To quote Mark Fields, “Change or die.” Your choice. And no distraction, deception or continued negativity will prevent the inevitable from happening.
