  1. The 03 does have both the 7 round and 4 flat wire connector allready installed
  2. I was looking for some help/advice on installing a electric brake controller on on 03 expedition. I have a brake controller to use that I had installed in a conversion van. In the manual is says "an electrical connector is provided under the intrument panel for installing a customer supplied electric brake controller" is also states that " a kit containing a wiring harness/adapter and installation instrucions to attach an electric brake controller may be obtained from a Ford dealer (part number 5A416). What does that mean? Where is the elelctrical conector provided under the instument panel located? what needs to be taken off and where do you find it and can I wire into it there without the adapter part number 5A416? or do you need that adapter to get the job done or make it a lot easier? is there an aftermarket adapter available or do you need the ford part? post here or email me at tom.schlichting@wolterskluwer.com Thanks,
  3. Yesterday I started my wifes 03 Expedition to back it out of the garage and it had a very rough idle and then in about a minute smoothed out. I never drove it but today when she went to use it the same rough idle appeared and then she noticed the service engine light came was on. I brought it down to check out the code at the local car parts store and it read PO 316 with a description of "missfire on startup" (first 1000 revolutions) . I reset it and I drove it around a few miles this afternoon with stoping and starting the engine and the light or the rought idle has not come back. Seems like it may be more when the car is cold based on it happned on saturday and then again this morning both times the vehicle was cold. any ideas on how to fix this issue may not come back but I'm guessing it will? any help would be appreciated.
  4. We have an 03 Expedition bought new now with 46,000 miles. My wife's vehicle but the other day I drove it and I noticed the Over Drive light flashes on it, it did not seem to make a difference (to keep it from flashing) if I pushed the button in on the end of the drive selector. I have not had time to test but it appears that it is still in overdrive but have not tested to push the selector in yet to see if forces it out. Any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it. thanks tom
  5. I have a number of things that I need help on fixing on my 98 302 explorer I bought new but now has 152K on. 1. the heat control does not seem to kick in in the morning until you actually drive the truck for about a mile. If I let it run in the driveway for 15 minutes or more still no effect on the heat until you actually drive it for about a mile or so, then the warm air comes fast and has no shortage of heat/temp. ie. works like new only when you start out with a cold engine and like I said above letting it run at idle in the driveway forever has no effect it seems until you actually drive it?? 2. rear O2 sensor keeps trggering the ck. engine light has anyone used one of these O2 eliminator plugs to bypass the sensor?? and if so where can you buy them? or is it an easy fix just to replace the sensor? Gas mileage is as good as ever so I do not think there a restriction in air flow or really anything wrong. 3. my drivers side door power lock works only occationally when trying to open the door the other doors will come unlocked but not the drivers? also now the the drivers door outside handle has lost the spring that provides some tension down on the door handle easy fix and if so how? fyi I replaced the firestone tires with Goodyear Wrangler's after the recall and now have 100K on them and they still look good. May not be the softest riding tire but they wear like iron. Thanks Tom
