  1. My 2004 Navigator with @100K miles has recently developed the mysterious intermittent low oil pressure sensor warning syndrome. My personal mechanic did some research and called some Ford friends and after thinking oil pump, he now sees potetinal for engine replacement because crankshaft is loose. i am going to dealer on Monday for oil pressure test with hope for the best. Has anyone experienced issues like this? My engine was rebuilt by Lincoln under warranty and it was a nightmare. I am wondering if they did a crappy job and now I am out of luck.
  2. Thanks, I will try that. I had just replaced the side molding that holds the seat controls but was pretty sure thsoe were plugged in well. Controls were working fine. A hunting for the Gremlin I will go...
  3. OK, electrical gremlin question for all the Nav owners or experts out there... My font seat power mirror and pedal fuse (30A) as begun blowing regularly. 1st was mysterious and did no new equipment installs or mods to cause a short. Replaced it with an OEM fuse, and it popped again about 2 weeks later. Any ideas of the a possible culprit or how to figure this one out? As always, any help is appreciated.
  4. I am not sold on my 04. Fuel economy sucks, you really have to drive it easy or you go through brakes like motor oil, and, well it has reliability which as of late seems to be hit and miss (Luckily, most were under warranty). I am getting paint fade on my air vents, the road noise seems to be getting worse, the hood struts went out, the driver interior door handle broke, and now a possible fuel pump needs to be replaced. All this and more with less than 80k miles. I had an explorer that was bullet proof despite all the roll over paranoia, so I am not anti Ford. Just expected more for 50 K. I also have a BMW 528 and that thing is rock solid at 100K, it jsut costs a fortune to fix things if you have to go to BMW. I keep wishing I had gotten the land cruiser. Never needed to tow or use all this space.
  5. :blah: You have air suspension to help the ride. it should only run for a while and then only when you first start the car. If the compressor continues to run often, you may have a leak in the air lines. This can be bad in that your compressor may prematurely wear out. You can temporarily disable the air suspension with a switch in the rear compartment by the lift gate. turn it off and see what a difference it makes.
  6. OK, I get it saving weight is gas efficient, but consumer satisfaction vs. saving .002 mpg for the increased weight might be worth reconsidering?
  7. OK, I need help again on deciding to take this in for service or trying it myself. The internal drivers side door handle was a little squirrely for a day and tonight it just stopped functioning. Outside handle still works, but that is it. I read there were some 07 recalls for broken springs but I have never had a door handle brake on me. Is this an easy repair (new door handle unit replacement) or do you need to know how the whole thing works to diagnose the problem and repair. I really only saw what appeared to be a handle retaining screw under the latch but that was it. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated . keep waiting for some Colombian Drug lord to steal it from me but until then I should probably fix it. OK, had to take it in and it was a broken interior handle assembly....bend over and cough up $140.00. I guess Lincoln should consider using METAL not plastic on a frequently used, moving part.
  8. OK, I need some verification on this one as I am still baffled but what I jsut saw! I have a 2004 Navigator2x4 While ago I started getting misfires accelerating up hills...no codes dealer could find so kept going. HAd a couple hard starts ( like no crank power but battery was fine) then finally got an engine icon (emission problem) and dealer took car in with diagnosis of dead hole on number 8. The repair was to take a while so I went to get things out of the car...service writer walked up to me, "don't freak out when you see your car" . Low and behold I see my frame and drive train on the floor of the bay with my body hoisted high above it! I can't believe this is the way you access a Navigator engine, and don't see how they can put humpty dumpty together again without some serious problems. AM i being paranoid?????? ANy one every heard of this repair method before????? AS AN update to above check out this link....can't believe I saw this confirmation of my concerns http://flatratetech.com/navigator1.htm
