  1. Meanwhile, Lousiville is working nonstop with massive mandatory overtime. So much for the flexible manufacturing system at MAP that was supposed to be able to build five distinct vehichles and help plants like LAP out :kuko:

With all due respect Fbf, I wouldn't call our o/t "massive." We have worked, I think, a Saturday and a couple Sundays so far this year. We'll see what the C489 launch brings...

  2. Gonna lose 10 at Livonia this year, starting this month.

Steve, if you're talking about ppl leaving thru buyouts & retirements, we won't know for sure how many ppl will actually leave until the end of this year (in all the plants).

As has been the case with every round of buyouts/retirement programs, some ppl do the math and decide it's better for them to keep working.

  3. A sad time, indeed; what a rich history TCAP has. Maybe down the road, if the economy ever improves and we get back to selling 15m-17m vehicles in NA annually, the company will see fit to bring back a compact pickup, built and sold in the U.S.

Best of luck to not only everyone who was still @ TCAP, but everyone in the supplier plants, too. If you're thinking about transferring, many of us are living proof that it can be done, and you can survive.

    Long live TCAP!

  4. As close as this vote is going to be, I don't think either side should be calling out the other.

    Majority rules.

I voted NO and I did so for my own personal reasons. And I respect everyone elses.

I am seven years away from retirement and I hope that the next generation of uaw members try to take care of me the way I TRIED to take care of them.

I hope four years from now our leadership will present us with a contract that we can ALL get behind.

I hope Ford makes record profits and we can all share in some good times and regain some of our lost bargaining power.

I hope the two-tier wage system is a one time contractual issue and that they will be full scale sooner than later.

And lastly, I hope that all of you that are coming down to LAP to build the new Escape will be Kentucky fans.

Yes; the democratic process worked, the majority of the membership voted to ratify. Now let's stick together, and make mgmt live up to their part of the new agreement.

    Oh, and one more thing: i was told i need to be a Cardinal fan! ;}

  5. I am also going to put out a (very) wild card. Reopen a closed, or soon to be closed plant. A solar panel and energy company was going to buy Wixom, but that fell through and Ford is trying to market the site- good luck with that. Ford could do an arrangement like they did at GM Orion to build some of the Fiestas there as well as the Transit Connect, and Ecosport SUV while having onsite suppliers. Hey, I know it sounds crazy, but GM agreed to reopen a plant, place a second on standby, and add a compact car to a third.

Always a pleasure to read your posts, sir!

Ford's resident economists and analysts are still predicting that if the economy recovers, sales could once again return to 16-17 million units/year or more.

If that happens, and our market share grows with that, it's not a pipe dream that we could use another U.S. plant or two.

    Keep Wixom and Twin Cities open! :}

  6. I heard $150,00 with full retirement for 30 years and over. In addition for anyone else that goes (applies to 30 year retirees also) a new Harley Davidson, 2 one month paid vacations to a luxury Maui resort, 30 years of free lawn service for your home, 1 free car wash per week for 20 years, a membership to the gym of your choice and free cable or satellite TV for life.

That's just what I heard! pretty damn exciting :happy feet:

At Indy, we heard that, plus a voucher for free food & drinks @ all Hooter's. For life. Damn, King & Settles effin' rawk!

    :happy feet:

  7. Going thru a plant closing suuuuuks! I wish nobody---hourly, salaried, contract---had to go thru this. Having said that, I feel so fortunate to at least have the opportunity to keep working, keep my seniority, keep making a good wage, and have decent benefits. Thank you UAW!

For those moving on---salaried, contract, and our hourly coworkers retiring or leaving the Blue Oval family altogether--- I wish you all the best.

For those of us heading to new plants: let's be glad we have good jobs to go to, and work to endear ourselves to our new "families". Peaceout!

  8. Just bought a new work cruiser 2012 Titanium, Tuxedo Black, leather, moon and tune, my touch is awesome sync is awesome, Hell the whole car is awesome.

You guys keep up the great work! Thanks again from your Union brother @ Kansas City Assembly Plant

Your comments are encouraging, 44; I ordered one as well, a Titanium hatchback.

And my kudos also to the folks @ KCAP---and everyone involved in making my '11 Escape. It's been a great vehicle; no problems!

  9. Guess you'll have to wait and see O ye of little faith. Mark my words 3 crew is coming and we will load up with legacy employees.

Raws and Sterling and what is left of ACH will be 2nd Tier Employees.

Indianapolis Steering is closing late this year, early next. So we'll be outta da picture. But Raws, Sterling, Milan, Saline, & Sandusky---the company is gonna xsfer all the blue Tier 1's outta those plants?

    I don't see that happening.

  10. At Indy Plant, we were sized about 3 weeks ago. I was in our local Quality/Sourcing/Transfer reps office when he got the email about the jackets, and he and our local barg. committee got right on it.

Nothing said about who was paying for them. We were told they will be union made in the U.S.

  11. I have been trying to get the a-b-c since the announcement.

I have been told the IUAW lawyers are going over the formulas and if they don’t jive a CPA agency will be utilized.

Actually I’m glad it’s taking this long, seems they are verifying the formula that supposedly gave us the average

    +1

Another possibility: put yourself in any union officials' shoes. If you knew--approximately--what the percent is, and you put it out, then mgmt comes back and lowers it---even a fraction---everybody'd want your head on a platter!

It does kinda suk that we don't know how much we're getting b4 the election period---but we never have in the past.

JMHO: splitting the check equally among TESPHE, FIA, and cash is a good way to get a decent check AND sock some away.

  12. I believe there is an important factor addressed here. Seldom if never do the results of compensation ever hit the media stage in such an aggressive manner as those against the HOURLY UAW workforce. These individuals do not understand the requirements of those individuals 'attached' to an assembly line for lengthy periods of time. We as line workers earn our wages by selling our body in pain, blood, and constant discomfort. It takes a special breed of cat to be a 'factory rat' , so kudas to us and F the rest. We should be proud of our ability to sustain this type of labor. I believe that educating ourselves in what we communicate to outsiders would be a good start, and also demand that our 'private contractual agreements' include nondisclosure to media personnel.

Good point, woody. Did you hear Bob King say---in an interview at NAIAS last month---that "we don't negotiate in the media." I agree. We shouldn't discuss our pay & benefits with the public, including the media. If reporters show up at our plant gates, or email us, facebook, etc. during contract negotiations, we should be polite but firm---the reporters don't tell us what THEY make, right? We expect that the ppl we elect to negotiate for us will get us a contract that's fair for everyone.

  13. I found it odd, if not interesting that in this weeks Ford safety talk they mentioned an incident at the Saline plant (something about someone slipping and falling by the turn styles, and breaking their leg). I sit through these meeting every week and this was the first time in over 8 years that they have mentioned either a ACH or Visteon plant. I'm not trying to plant false seeds in anyone's minds but it did raise my eyebrows!!! We have always heard about safety incidents at ford plant around the world but they have always been true ford plants. I am sure this is not the first person hurt in an ACH plant in 8 years. Anyone else have any idea why they would be include now??

JMHO: the ppl in Safety, on both the union and management sides, change (retirements, layoffs, etc). Maybe whomever is currently heading-up the NJCHS decided to, in Safety reporting, include incidents in ALL plants, instead of separating out Ford & ACH.

  14. I heard the rumor that Jesus is coming to take all the good people on 5-21-2011. Has anyone heard this too? I guess time will tell just like every other thing that ever happens. If it is true I hope that my family and I are good enough to make the trip out of here before shit hits the fan. :fan:

Is that the same thing as the rapture? If so, can I have your house and your vehicles when you go? I promise to take good care of your stuff. Man, I love the rapture! :camera:

  15. http://www.detnews.com/article/20110203/AUTO01/102030415/Ford-recalling-350-000-F-150s-over-door-handle-issue

Ford has now recalled more than 700,000 vehicles in the first five weeks of 2011 in the United States

I think this is the right thing to do--in other words, just be honest. With our customers, and the general public. When there's a problem, admit it. And fix it.

Remember the Toyota disaster last year? It seemed Toyota officials were either lying or being deceptive about the sudden acceleration problem. Their sales fell off a cliff.

The F-150 is the top seller & the best truck, period. I think the best way to keep that goin' is to just be honest when there's a problem.

  16. ok i want to buy a new focus at end of this year [electric} but theres no plugs ins ,in the parking lot.Go figure, i work for ford, i drive a ford ,but i cant drive it to work .

Turn in a Maximo ticket for electricians to install outlets.

All seriousness aside, I wonder if it's possible to tap into the power to the parking lot lights?

    Brother Pioneer: any thots?

  17. Last summer, my son and I visited Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. We flew in to Calgary, and drove to Banff. What a stunningly beautiful place! And the federal and local governments are spending a ton of money on roads, brides, parks, etc. Ya know---infrastructure.

Driving around Calgary and Banff, I was amazed at the number of new Ford products on the roads; it was great to see.

    Canadians, and Ford, rule!
