  1. Wife's car is a '16 explorer sport. It's pretty quick but I am always ok with more power. My daily driver is a Gearhead tuned 6.4 PSD the minimax says 0-60 in 5.3 seconds in 2wd... it could do better in 4x4, but that's even harder on the trans.
  2. An idea for a "Sport" package for the Expedition would include either the flat plane 5.2L V8 or a 5.0L twin turbo V8 for a gas engine. The both the F150 and Expedition should have a V8 or I6 diesel option with compound turbos and about 5.0L.
  3. Any future buyers of Super Duty's please add a post for items you would like to see on the next gen trucks- (obviously the 2015 trucks are not the next generation, but just a slight refresh). Here is the list I have so far: 1. The NHTSA does not crash test these trucks, but many of the people that buy them are very interested in safety for there family. The cab structure needs strengthening to support a 8000 pound plus truck in a roll-over. Ford should independently test the crash performance of the Super Duty and be able to market using a commercial similar to the Mercedes showing the rollover test. more to come...
  4. I want Ford to make a Bronco that guys can drive as a daily driver. A good list of features / capabilities: - Skip the gas sipper entry level engine - Standard no additional charge I-6 4.0L ecoboost or V8 5.0L gas engines - V8 5.5L seqential turbo diesel $3k option - Front and rear solid axles - Front axle uses greasable u-joints at its ends (no cv's) - Front hub disconnects w/ auto engage similar to Super Duty - Super ridgid body connected to a real frame similar to LR4 - Nearly match exterior dimensions of the LR4 - T-case w/ 2WD, 4WD, 2Lo, 4Lo, and AWD via electronic wet disc clutch
  5. A semi uses a big c-channel frame, so do most other commercial trucks. Fully boxed frames are good for shorter vehicles, but for long wheelbase trucks I think a good thick c-channel is pretty optimal, it has the right amount of flexiblity over terrain and strength. IMHO the chevy frame has thin wall thickness and is too tall for decent ground clearance. I do not know much about the new dodge frame other than the trucks are "brand-less" and the 3500 at my previous employer cracked behind the cab when used as a chassis cab with a van body. Ford's payload ratings are conservative in my experience a F-250 Super Duty CC SB can haul 5,000# with enough suspension travel remaining before the bumpstops...the tires would be the weak point of the F250/350 SRW trucks.
  6. I see no problem with the solid front axle...I had a set of tires for 80,000 miles on my 99 V10. The newer trucks seem to have corrected the inside edge tire wear that the older SD's had...
  7. Top ten chances to regain real truck buyers: 10. Add a real jake brake with significant brake horsepower 9. Add more fuel capacity to short bed crew cabs 8. Improve front suspension wheel travel to more than 2" before the bumpstop 7. Add a factory rear air ride option 6. Redesign the cab sheetmetal 5, Improve rollover crash protection even though its not mandated 4. Raise the front bumper 3. Provide OEM filtration for coolant and external trans filter 2. Add better bed and reverse lighting 1. Challenge the EPA on their basis for requiring diesel particulate filters and urea. And remove these costs from the truck.
  8. The Exped has all independent suspension, no power = minivan or crossover, A new diesel Excursion would triple the Exped sales which is an easy task when they sell so few of the bloated minivans!
  9. 10. The grille is massive and needs restyling 9. The 450 lost its 19.5"' wheels and brake rotors size was reduced 8. The Kings Ranch does not have saddle leather 7. Roll stability control is not delete-able when ordering 6. Interior head room is less again 5. The v10 is not available on 250/350's 4. The 6 speed auto is weaker than the 5 speed it replaced 3. Manual tranfer case is not available on higher end trucks 2. The diesel engine is not made in the USA 1. Dually fender design
  10. Dumping the Econoline name plate is as good of move as calling the Taurus a Five Hundred for a few years.
  11. I have two Super Duties and two newfoundlands... an Excursion would excellent for hauling dogs and people in the MN winter instead of loading dog crates into a F350. The way I see it Ford has three options: 1. continue on its current path with an underpower car based expedition with poor sales 2. add a diesel and the 6.2 to the expedition, plus lift it out of crossover height, and upgrade to a solid rear axle to gain ok sales 3. build a diesel excursion with air ride rear suspension, coil front suspension (great turning radius) and acheive 50,000+ vehicles sold per year
  12. Well the 2011 and newer KR's do not have the real saddle leather interior... Pros for 2012 truck - more power and fuel efficiency from the factory - 6 spd auto Pros for 08-10 truck - Engine built in the USA - Proven powertrain - Less stability control and air bags etc - better looks IMHO - Easily modified for my power when unloaded
  13. Supercharged 5.0 and start from the new Jaguar all aluminum body.
  14. Bring back the King of SUVs!!! Engine options: 6.2l gas w/ 6spd auto 6.7l diesel w/ 6 spd auto 4.4l diesel w/ 8 spd auto I love the 44 gallon tank!
  15. Bring back the Ex! It and the 2013 super duty could use some new sheet metal from the Tonka F-350.
  16. First off I have tried to deal with customer support through my dealer and FoMoCo with no sucess. I have a 2010 F-350 equip'd with the gov't mandated TPMS which is "great" except the warning light is always on. Ford Corporate does not allow their dealers to reprogram the computer for tires with a lower max PSI (but still load range E). The law says the monitor should alert when tire pressure falls. Currently the TPMS will not do this in my vehicle since it is always on and Ford will not allow a change to the system to bring it back into working condition. I suspect at least 10% of super duty's have wider than factory tires and are experiencing this same issue. It is only a matter of time before the NHTSA is after manufacturers to allow this system to be updated. I am willing to pay to have the computer updated, but disallowing updates of this nature does not make sense.
  17. bump...2012 Ex! Still no competition for a large diesel SUV...
  18. Call it the fossil fuel duo bring back the excursion and build the Interceptor RWD concept. Real cars and trucks for real car people. Front wheel drive is so 1990. Electric cars are a political pandering.
  19. Ford needs an interior that uses the camel color leather from the king's ranch package with the black interior of a Lariat. Skip the tan two-tone exterior also. Has the designer of the 2011 dually fenders been reassigned to cupholder design yet?
  20. Bring back the Ex! A new high MPG diesel with a factory 44 gallon tank would be a game changer for Surburban sales! Huge conventional tow rating would be a sales point as well. Ford could offer a carbon offset tree planting option for those who want to purchase such an item with their Excursion. I would imagine that most Ex buyers own properties with enough trees to more than offset driving an Ex. Most Prius drivers hardly own a house plant!! An offset program could at least justify some kind of badge on the vehicle and keep the radicals from setting Ex's on fire like they did to Hummers.
  21. Exactly it is a great vacation truck or daily driver for those who work close to home. Bring back the Ex! What is the market share split between the Exped EL and Surburban? I bet the Ex could outsell the Exped EL three-fold and take back tons of market share. Dream daily driver: Black ext and interior w/ Kings Ranch seats, 6spd auto, 6.4L diesel (since it is made in the US) and "race track only" exhaust. Factory CB and strobes!
  22. I have two Super Duties and neither plow snow. Regular duty steering was on the 2010 F150, they have now gone to wuss electric steering. This is a wish list...and I wish that Ford does not turn the F150 into a wuss' pickup. End of story. Bash this post to increase you number of posts if you wish.
  23. From the notice on the upfitter site it appears that the steering is "underpowered" to handle additional weight and possibly the alternator cannot keep up to electric steering, the plow's electric use, and the rest of the vehicle's draw. So yes you can hook one up, but it appears you may not be able to steer or you may fry the alternator....
  24. The previous 150's must have been designed to plow, since they had a plow package. Plowing also wears out a Super Duty sooner than lighter uses.
  25. On the upfitter website Ford is saying that the new electric steering is not able to handle the load of the plow.
