  1. Oh boo hoo, I'm playing the smallest violin for all the whiners. Ford is a business entity.

BMW is selling more CUVs than "ultimate driving machines", welcome to the real world.

Actually, BMW is still passenger car heavy......regardless you have a point. Sales have shifted from cars to SUVs/Trucks so why not offer more options to keep and/or reign in new buyers.

While I like that, I think it should be standard. It just has the feeling of GM slapping SS on everything for the 2000's. Now the Cobalt SS wasn't a joke originally, it then became a appearance package that could be had with performance upgrades or not. Next thing you knew, there was a impala ss and trailblazer ss (I think there was more) which were mostly half baked in the performance department.

Agreed. Makes you wonder why they didn't just slap a 'Sport' badge on it and call it a day.

A base MKX Hybrid Premiere at its MSRP of about $37k is OK at best. The $55k variant that C&D tested is a real dud. C&D is absolutely correct in stating "Black Label experience isn’t enough to make the MKZ competitive in its entry-luxury segment" and that the price increase associated with Black Label "makes its shortcomings stand out even more."

Is it any wonder why MKZ sales (as a whole) are down nearly 20% for the first half of 2015 compared to the same period last year?

Yes, 55K is a bit on the steep side! That's 5 Series/E Class/A6 money....albeit with less feature content.

  4. Maybe this is happening already, but Ford could stand to do a better job selling Lincolns to exisiting Ford customers looking for a premium nameplate.

I will say this much, at least a boat load of money wasn't dumped into the brand only to net nothing from it (like Cadillac).

  5. Fiat-Chrysler's decision to spin off Dodge pickups under the new "Ram" nameplate isn't building Dodge's brand loyalty. When loyal Dodge pickup customers buy another one, they have bought a Ram, not a Dodge.

Agreed.....FCX's fragmenting of Chrysler/Dodge vehicles hasn't helped much here.

As far as the other brands, they've been pretty stagnat when it comes to new product.
