  1. Gotta like how you have to put every single Ford vehicle on the consideration list these days....

It's funny because when you look back 4 years ago, there wasn't much to pick from.

And for those of you that claim that this is too much like a Taurus X/Freestyle.....do you wear glasses and don't happen to have them on? The Explorer doesn't even appear to to have the same stance as the 'X', just because the greenhouse is somewhat similar doesn't mean they are one in the same.

  2. One can only hope.

Commercial and Government fleets aren't as bad as rental, but I still don't look at this statement as a good thing.

Considering how a lot of munis began to gravitate towards Toyotas/Hondas (for whatever reason), I fail to see how this is ISN'T a good thing. Gov't and Commercial customers tend to hold on to these vehicles a lot longer than a rental agency, and so long as Ford didn't give them away I fail to see the issue.

  3. Saw a contractor using a Raptor to tow around his beat-to-...hell trailer full of lawnmowers yesterday. I debated following him to his destination and demanding that he hand it over to someone who would put it to better use, but I decided to let it slide.

I doubt many of them will see intended use. Although I did see one of them being pulled out of the valet at the hotel next door covered in mud. Made me smile.

I wish I had use for one....oh wait driving up Hollywood and Santa Monica Blvd is the equivalent of off roading. There might be hope for me after all.

  4. I still don't get this complaint at all. I've looked at all the different Audis, BMW's, Mercedes, Fords, Chevys, Chryslers, Kias I can and don't get what the complaint is here. I guess I just don't get what people mean by "flush side glass".

You aren't the only one. I could find a dozen or so issues with the MKZ, and flush side glass wouldn't be one of them.

  5. So I got delivery of my '10 Fusion Hybrid in early May of 2009. At that point the maps in the car where at least 1.5 years out of date. Example the I-210 freeway in San Bernadino was official opened June 16, 2007 and the map has nothing even close to it. Similar with several other freeways changes in California. That makes it more than 1.5 years.

I have contacted my dealer about it and never got an answer. Tried Ford.com contact us several times and only yesterday I finally got an update (9 months after I took delivery of the vehicle). And what do they tell me?

Yes, we just released a map update, please contact your dealer.

Not a single word about that the maps were that outdated when I took delivery. And guess how much the dealer wants for the update? $350 for something that should have been more up to date from the beginning.

I find it pretty inexcusable that no one ever got back to you regarding this situation. You would think that your salesperson would have at least tried to do something for you, and as far as Ford Corporate is concerned I would have called and spoken with Customer Care and got them involved vs. sending an email.

As far as the maps go and the cost to update, that's part of the joy owning an in car nav system. The one in our G35, even after Infiniti replaced the HD with a new unit, is missing data. In fact the manufacturers farm out these types of services to companies such as Navteq. And just because a road is finished, does not mean that the map has been updated. Our home address took forever to show up on google and yahoo maps due to it being new construction.

  6. I must live in a strange area. I've been seeing loads of new Tauruses, Mustangs, and Flexes lately after not seeing many at all for months.

Good month all around though. If all we can nitpick about is FLAT sales for the Flex, I'd say we're in a much better place than we were a year ago.

Funny you mention that, because I've noticed the same exact thing here. I went from seeing virtually no Flexes to at least several a day, and this is after all import land. People seem to like 'em around here.

I'd be curious to see what Deanh's take is on it.

  7. Back when the first Escape came out, C&D loved the handling. Either the bar has been raised since then, or Ford has once again dumbed-down the suspension on one of their products to appease the Grosse Point matrons who have to drive over a few potholes on the way to the mall.

Chalk that up to Ford dumbing down the suspension, that and the flaccid tires that they put on these things to eek out as much fuel economy possible.

  8. A Mustang GT Premium Coupe with most of the options (excluding NAV) plus state taxes, etc, is getting up there. Probably $37,000 -38,000. Convertible over $40,000. It may be worth that....it better be....because for that price, there are other cars you can consider....especially if your interests are in more than 1/4 mile times. But I still like them.

    Like what?

The only thing that even comes close is a G37 Coupe, and even then it starts at 37K for the basic no options version. And sorry but a Track Pkg Mustang is good for a lot more than 1/4 mile times....the car more than holds its own.

  9. RWD and manuals, perhaps? Maxima is still CVT only, and Altima only comes with a manual-V6 combo in coupe form (and probably not for much longer).

That, and the VQ25TT will make more than the 210 HP previously mentioned. Autoblog edited it to show 280 HP/300 lb-ft.

On top of that the G37 has a lot more hp than the top of the line Maxima/Altima. I'm all about Infiniti, but could care less about Nissan badged vehicles (except for the Z).

  10. So I wonder if that isn't RevoKnuckle?

I think RevoKnuckle would be considered a "passive" cornering control device.

CD mentioned that the Focus has a long option list (" ...will be offered with rain-sensing wipers, a parallel-parking system, a blind-spot warning system, a backup camera, ambient lighting, a stitched dashboard, and a sophisticated navigation system ...")

I'll bet everyone of those options will be required with the 1.6L EcoBoost engine, just like the Taurus SHO !

Actually every one of those options are not required with the SHO. A basic SHO comes without a moonroof, BLIS, Navigation, heated/cooled seats, rain sensing wipers, etc

  11. I think you mean C&D. They have never met a Honda they didn't like, especially the Accord. Let's face it, no country can build a sports sedan quite like Germany. They are the masters of that segment. Ford builds the best sport coupes and pickup trucks and BMW builds the best sport sedans. For me, a Fusion Sport is close enough and I would buy one if interested in sport sedans, but otherwise I defer to BMW.

No I don't mean C&D. Go look at a few comparos...

We hung on to a 335i sedan over night b4 deciding on our G35, and outside of slightly better steering there was nothing about the BMW to justify it's higher price tag. Don't get me wrong, I'd drive a 3 in a heartbeat but there isn't anything about that vehicle that would make me think twice about our purchase decision.
