  1. Yes, I'll post if I get a letter. Wouldn't it be real easy for everyone if our local website had this type of info on it? It's a good thing we look out for one another to keep up to date on what's going on.
  2. Based on the posts I've seen on hear lately, that person would have to be H.F. if it was a SLAP person. I don't blame him for being pissed off but Ford doesn't own this site.
  3. Where do you live that the climate is so bad, savetheplanet? It seems awfully good here in St. Louis except about one hot month a year. And that's while churning out a few million SUV's out of SLAP. Have fun on your bike. CHING CHING!
  4. Well, about 350 originally said they'd go to KC when we completed a non-binding survey. They'll have to re-survey at some point to get a "real" number. At this point, we're hearing it's KC or nothing as Louisville will be used to accept Atlanta transfers when they close.
  5. OK, I'll respond but I don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. I hope you get a buyout though since you want to move on.
  6. Yeah, but if you know the poster, you probably now the Mike he's referring to.
  7. What are you trying to do, call him out on here?
  8. I listed the reasons I didn't transfer, sorry if those reasons offended you. I know AAI isn't in Detroit but it's close enough to have to deal with a lot I mentioned. How come you're wanting a buyout as you state in another thread you started if things are so good there? Just curious. We've all had good years with FoMoCo when building new product and you're right, I don't like sitting at home making $40,000 clear to do nothing. I'd much rather be working. Looks like that'll be sooner than later but in the meantime, I'm getting a lot done around the house. I've done the 7-12's at SLAP too. It's good while it lasts. Enjoy it and save it. I hope the Mustang continues to sell well. Lord knows this company needs it.
  9. Who's being dramatic? I'm not worried about anything you're talking about. You sound like Chicken Little, "The sky is falling!". Have you noticed that your agenda gets no love here? Are your friends at the National Science school the same ones telling me last week that bacon's bad for me and I'll die sooner if I eat it and then now telling me this week it's OK to eat it? Scientist distort data to make their experiments support what "they" believe. That's a known fact if you know anything about paradigms. I could be a scientist. Watch me. Today in my lab, I injected a small rat with 200 cc's of sugar. My observations show that the small rat died a short time later proving that sugar is bad for you. We must warn the public immediately. My next experiment is to prove that CO2 emissions are harmful to the health of the human race. I have hooked up a flexible hose to a small rat's cage that is sealed as to not let any emissions escape. The other end of the hose is connected to the exhaust pipe of a running 2006 Ford Explorer. Let the record show that the small rat expired 2 minutes after starting the engine. I hereby conclude that auto emissions are poisonous and pose an immediate great risk to the human race. Therefore, we must all ride bikes to work daily and abandon speedy travel altogether for the sake of the planet which will remain only for another billion years or so if we don't nuke it first. AHA! My next experiment beckons!
  10. Haven't heard the final official number but close to 1100 signed up for a package which would leave about 600 remaining. Yes, we have to draw out SUB first. Trades worked a few weeks longer than we did. There's some still working but most are laid off and drawing SUB until they start GEN.
  11. Solution: Buy a Mustang GT for $25-$26K A/X plan. Upgrade suspension and bolt on a supercharger. Buy reproduction Shelby emblems and stripe it. For under 32K, you can have a car that will equal if not beat a GT500.
  12. Guess what dude, there's three groups of people I don't listen to period, Auto ANALyst, scientists and environmental groups. Hmmm. I'll start my own group that says everything's A-OK and tell everyone the world will still be here when we die...'cause it will be. And yes, they're all Looney Tune people. I suggest you start digging a cave or bunker immediately to save yourself from all the bad things we're doing by building transportation. Here's something that'll make you cringe (and I hope it does), my Camaro gets 4 miles per gallon! :happy feet:
  13. That's what we're here for! By the way, the sun will burn out long before the earth is destroyed by emissions. Global warming my ass! Been cold as hell here lately. Now go and crawl back into Ralph Nader's ass where you came from. :P
  14. From a business standpoint, it would take away sales from the newest products, the 500, Fusion, and Milan if the Taurus were still available to the buying public. Ford doesn't want that. Sorry, but that's the truth. Hopefully you'll get either buyouts or transfers like us in St. Louis. Best of luck.
  15. I know you asked someone other than me but since I'm at St. Louis, I'll list the reasons why I didn't. 1) Too far away 2) Too cold 3) Cost of living too high 4) Median housing prices too high 5) Traffic sucks 6) Too much snow 7) Michigan's dying economy 8) I wasn't on night shift or low seniority and wasn't going to get laid off when they dropped a shift 9) Wife didn't want to go to Michigan 10) Detroit sports teams suck except the Red Wings 11) Too many Muslims 12) No one told us we were closing :P 13) Too much road construction 14) Want better schools for my kids 15) Lack of Division I scholarships for baseball players 16) Jennifer Granholm 17) Kwame Kilpatrick 18) Knew better opportunities would be offered. etc., etc....
  16. I suggest we not buy into rumors posted on an internet message board. I believe a lot of transfers will be taking place in the next year and a half as assembly plants close.
  17. And I'm sure you'll share with us what type of business you run that makes that kind of money? I'm sure you're talking gross receipts too. Hell yeah we do! The UAW membership sells thousnads if not 10's of thousands of cars and trucks every year through our A/X/Z plans. In the past, the UAW has advertised on TV as well. As far as people on the coast's being put off by $27 an hour, don't they make at least that much to live where the cost of living is so high? How does one live in San Jose, San Diego, San Fransico, NY, Boston, etc... if they don't make much money? I couldn't afford the mortgage/rent in those areas on my salary of $55K so those people have to make more money than me...yet, I don't bitch about what someone makes. Nice try though.
  18. No lie, brother. I'm sure more of my SLAP brothers and sisters that hang here saw it too. Dumb is dumb is dumb.
  19. Thanks for joining and making your very first post, Mr. White Collar manager. As always, it's the unions fault. Lazy workers? I wonder how all of these cars actually get built when we're so lazy? Actually, we do it while the supervisor and higher ups have their feet up on a desk somewhere. I have not forgotten what it's like to earn money. One, I earn it everyday I go to work as I have 400+ cars to build...everyday. Two, I guess if your boss proposed you take a wage cut, you'd cheerfully accept and go home to your wife and rejoice with her over dinner. Knowing you helped the company increase the bottom line so your leaders can all get big bonuses would certainly be a reason to celebrate, right? But you'd still feel good knowing you helped them get richer, right? Yeah, I'm living large on my $57,000 gross annual income. I have a yacht, a place in the Hamptons, and a membership at the local country club...NOT! So, Mr. Fading Away, what amount would it take to get you to come build cars with us? You obviously have a lower income than us so tell us at what hourly rate would you gladly come join us at? $16 per hour? So, you'd jump for joy to build cars for $32K a year? Have fun partner. Your body will tell you that it ain't worth that after about a year. Let's see, I can go work at a Quiktrip and be a shift manger for $30,000 a year or I could build cars for $32K a year? Hmmmmm.... Wonder what the employee turnover rate will be if they do start paying the lower wages? 20% a month? How about for your 2nd post you DON'T talk out your ass? Yeah, the competition you mention for that line of work is from all the illegals from Mexico who will work for $4 an hour! Been to a new housing construction site lately? Mucho illegals!
  20. Have you looked into the cost of health insurance yet? I found it kinda amusing when I saw a fellow co-worker on our local news saying that after getting the 100K that she would be set for life! How dumb did she make us look? Good luck in your business.
  21. Allow me to speculate for a minute. I don't see anyone going to either plant offering buyouts until: 1) A final number has been determined as to how many at SLAP actually took packages. 2) They re-survey us to determine how many of those that did not take a buyout actually wish to transfer. Once this has taken place, I suspect they will go to KCAP with the packages and then Louisville will follow. KCAP is currently overstaffed according to my sources and any transfers to that plant will only take place after they get enough people to take packages to get to their desired manpower number. Then, any additional openings created by someone taking a buyout will result in a job transfer opportunity for a person at SLAP. Based on the info I received, no transfers will take place until manpower is reduced by a minimum of 200 jobs at KCAP.
  22. Sadly, I could never be President as I'm just a common man with common sense. There are many like me that could turn this country around given the chance. Almost everyone knows what's wrong with this country but no one wants to do anything about it. I find it ironic that we have these major protests by immigrants, probably both legal and illegal, marching in the streets of the USA protesting tougher illegal immigrant legislation. Someone explain to me why someone should be allowed to sneak into this country illegally, collect social security, welfare and whatever other assitance they can get, yet they are illegally in our country? WTF is that all about? The sad thing is, you can't get Americans to protest to keep them out. Newsflash!! There is a legal way to enter this country. If you want to come here, do it legally!! In the meantime, let's build the wall, man it with the National Guard (isn't that guarding our nation?), and then work on deporting those in the country illegally. Clear the rolls of illegals getting government assistance and use that money to help AMERICAN CITIZENS! Gee, there's a new idea, huh? While I'm on a diatribe, the US has to withdraw from making "the world" a safe place. We need to focus on making North America a safe place. I believe in a strong military but my God, 100's of billions of dollars spent on Iraq and Afghanistan? We wouldn't have to worry about them if we're tighter with out National Security and quit letting terrorists into our country. And one last thing, if you live where a hurricane can wipe or flood you out, you better have your own property insurance. Yeah, we'll come rescue you and give you water and food, but free hotel rooms, spending money, etc... are off the list. If you're going to risk living where these occurrences are common, you're on your own as "my government" ain't gonna fix stupid. Twincam Harley for Prez 2008 :P
  23. OK, Harry. What jobs do you see still here in the U.S. when EVERYTHING is made in China or some other low wage country? I think that pretty much leaves the service industry which most don't pay very much. What people don't realize is that once all the higher paying jobs are gone in the middle class, no one will be able to use the services of the service industry employers because they can't afford it. Then the service industry jobs will take a hit and then what? Ooooops! We forget about that! I guess we'll just have to let in more illegals to do the low paying jobs that Americans won't do? What kind of crap is that? Bush actually said those words!! What jobs are those? Restaurant jobs? Aren't our teenagers employed in those jobs? I don't see a need to have a bunch of illegals working at my local McDonald's as there seems to be a lot of teens working there. Solution: Build the wall and quit importing. We may have to pay more for our products but the employers will have to pay more too. There isn't anything made elsewhere that we can't make here at home.
