YEAR TO DATE UK
Last two months Ford UK have been breaking records when it comes to sales, like the fist time a Ford as not been at No1 for two months not seen since the late 1960's. Focus slipped from No1 down to No4 and the Fiesta moved up to No2 lets hope its a blip YEARS TO DATE UK wont look good.

You all so forgot to tell how vauxhal have been giving cars 3000-4000 pounds off and 0% loans all month and that is just the small car. The vectra has 7000 pounds of is this part of the country

Keep on reading about the gm, chrysler merger or just have gm obsorb chrysler. But what if ford was to absorb chrysler would the deal be better with ford.As not realy having rear wheeldrive cars or minivans in their line up plus the hemi engine would be a good thing for ford to use as it own.Plus with the explorer going unibody you can slim down the crap from jeep and keep the good cars . ford main street
mercury europe style smail cars
chrysler semi lux
dodge sports
jeep offroad
-
Wonder what the Mercury small car will be...maybe a rebadged Focus (someone have a photochop of that?) or maybe something from Ford EU, Ka Maybe/Cougar?
Ore could it be the b- max witch is going to replace our fusion here in europe.
-
I think he may mean more along the lines of it'd be sold at the same time as the Focus, not literally alongside it. I could be wrong though.
You hit the nail right on the head. Ford needs more than one c class sized car to make up the numbers of trucks and suv sales that it is losing in the market place

2011 Ford C-Max [spied]
July 9, 2008
With gas prices at record highs, automakers are scrambling to develop more fuel efficient models. While some automakers are developing all-new cars from scratch, Ford realized that it didn’t have to look any farther than its current European lineup for fuel-saving models. One of those models that will be making the trek across the pond is the Blue Oval’s C-Max, which are spy photographers just spotted while testing in the wild.
More at link:http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-c-max.html
I think you are getting the C max and the S max mixed up. The C max is just a taller focus 5 seater with the S max being the 7 seat-er .The C max should be Mercury and be sold along side the ford focus
-
Ford jellymoulds you do talk a load of rubbish some times ford will have no trouble selling the 5000-7000 cars a year.If you think that 300 bhp is a fake car then i suggest you give up on being a car enthusiast
-
Well to day as i was driving around cambridge i saw a ford escape hybrid with dealer plates on. so could this be some testing for a future car for europe
-
Ford Focus sales are on a slide down 8% on last year, VW Golf moved up to number 1 spot in Europe for the first time in ages in October.
European Car sales were up 5.6% in October on last year, Fords rise for the month was 4.8%.
May be it could be that they now only count the focus not the focus and focus cmax together

Why are Fiesta sales (~280K YTD) so much lower than the other cars on the list (>300K YTD)?
When I was in Scotland two weeks ago I was shocked by the number of Fiestas on the road. It's an attractive little car. I was driving a Vauxhall Corsa (same category as the Fiesta) and with a more powerful engine (say 1.6 or 1.8 vs. the 1.2 my hire car had) it would be perfectly fine in the US. I'm assuming the Fiesta is equally competent...so why isn't the Fiesta offered here in the US? It may not be a huge seller, but it would seem to be an important addition to the Ford family.
Scott
Well to start with the fiesta is the old man of the b car group

Just to let you see but auto express has a picture of the next fiesta plus some information on the details of engines like petrol 1.3 1.6 1.8 sci direct injection

I have still have not seen Focus ST on the UKs roads anywhere yet, so sales must be very close to zero.
Some times i do wonder about you the focus st is the best selling hot hatch out selling the astra 2-1. Last month ford said that thay had sold over 10,000 st focus
-
to be honest - so would I .. the car is beautiful, and so is the inside ... too bad Ford was on dope back in 2005 and the 2 cars were not designed together ... so now this car does not have AWD or V6 .....
we shall see how the 09 Fusion does .. maybe a Fusion Wagon (imported Mondeo Wagon) would be a nice niche option - I would definitely bite ... my GF would have to drag me from a dealership ..
Igor
I would say that the v6 engine will be out in about six months when demand has started to fade .As it was said that ford has 20,000 orders so far in the last month. The mondeo has all ways had a v6 engine in its line up even the seirra before had a v6 engines.Lets just hope that its the 3.5 to give it the power it needs

I mentioned it was European in Post 12.
The Focus still has piss poor MPG compared to a 207, so l would not buy a LOW MPG bland Focus
Sorry JASON l made a mistake with the Peugeot 207 figures it was not 70 MPG it should of been 74.3 MPG. Here is the model below, 308 will be big on MPG like you say. 307 is going to be discontinued l think, l just wish these cars were Fords l would be down the Ford dealers tomorrow and buy one the styling is superb as well. All we have is a boring bland Focus with low MPG.
Scroll down the page as its blank at the top it gives details on the 74.3 MPG Peugeot 207 Diesel
Right lets compare apples to apples peugeot 307 petrol first 1.4 43.5 ,1.6 38.2 ,20 36.7 now diesel 90 bhp 57.6 ,110 bhp 57.6 ,136 bhp 52.3 all combined from there website. Now ford focus petrol 1.4 60.1 ,1.6 58.9 ,20 50.4 diesel 90 bhp 42.8 ,109 bhp 42.2 ,136 bhp 39.8 all combined from ford website. So when you compare cars in the same class the focus is not bad at all

In auto express this week it has the facelifted focus witch is going to be out this year to compeat with the astra civic and so on.With a lot more style than the one that we have now
PS in there sister mag it just had the new mondeao bet the passet and bmw 3 diesels good start only complant is it lacks the power of the other two .But said that it drivers better than the bmw
-
and that makes sense ... it will hardly make it to the EU Fiesta - it will be the Fiesta ST engine - the 1.6l Turbo will make nice 130-150hp - that is way too much for a B-car (outside a niche sport version).
However, I definitely hope we will see it in the next Focus ... that engine makes PERFECT sense as an optional Focus engine - look at VW's US engine lineups .. there is always a smaller turbo optional with better FE than the base NA engine.
Now if Ford put the 1.3l Miller engine from the JDM Demio in the US Fiesta - that would be awesome option - the engine is to have 20% improved FE over the 1.5l MZR - so about 48mpg (well, with the old metrics).
Igor
God i hope it has more than 130-150bhp as the st now has 150bhp and that is very low with most of its competitors have about 200bhp.Plus this engine is going in the mondeo so at least 210bhp or it will be behind before it even arrives
-
I think it has to do with the B-car or maybe even a B-car and the Bronco based on it!
Juat to day in the auto express mag they was going on about how ford is making a 4x4 of the new fiesta. hope this link works http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...ord_fiesta.html

While the 4.4L diesel will likely be more expensive than the 6.2-4 L hurricane/Boss/whatever the hell its called today (the lion is DOHC, turbo, which adds expense from the start), it will be able to command a premium over the bigger v8 as it is going to have more torque (4.4L should be in the 450-500 lb range easily) and decent HP (250+). I think it would be a fine entry level engine, and I would think that it would easily sell for at least the premium that the v-10 commands, if not a grand more. You also have to look at one other thing. The 4.4L diesel, if made available in the superduty line, would get, by far, the best gas mileage of any of the competition. For a fleet of city work trucks, that could be HUGE.
As the 3.6 v8 makes about 271 ps and 472ft/lb torque now. I would hope for a lot more from a 4.4 v8 based on the same engine

Read this to day about next years all new fiesta .Which in the write up says that the platform b2xx is for the up and coming ecosport for the us market and the mazda http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...rd_fiesta.html2

I think it could work if they put landrover with the suv off road image. Then you can have rover with the softer image with cuvs like the edge and freestyle plus a couple of cars then the hole rover landrover thing covers all the people
-
Let's take note, the AJ's 4.2L V8, will get a displacement bump soon. 300HP isn't really competitive anymore... And yes, On Jag's you get "R" which uses a Supercharger to makes around 400HP, but "R" is to Jag, what AMG is to MB, is to "M" for BMW, avilable in limited quantities...still doesn't address the need for a V8 producing 350+.
Over here in england it has been said that jaguar+landrover are working on a new 5.0 litre V8 engine with power at the 350 bhp mark
