  1. I drive pretty much the same route every day, and purchase fuel almost exclusively at the same Flying-J. They did *something* of course, didn't want to take credit, could it be to lower the risk of raising the ire of the EPA, or having the truck come back later as a 'recheck?' I'm not complaining, mind you. Just an observation.
  2. Update: I took my truck to the dealer last week, they kept it overnight, and I picked it up the next day. When I picked it up, the service writer told me that he thought that the mileage was "within spec" whatever the heck that means, but they did a modification that sounds like the fuel pump is still running for 30 seconds or so - no other work supposedly done. I drove off, and checked the mileage - it now gets about 16.5-17. It got 13-14 before I took it in. But they didn't do anything? Oh well, plausable denyability, one supposes.
  3. I've got a '05 F350, current mileage is just under 17K. When I bought the unit, the salesman told me his customers tell him they get 20 mpg, maybe even better. I accepted that for what it is: salesmen's BS. Nevertheless, the first few thousand miles,. it got around 12 mpg, I called the dealer and told them that's unacceptable, and they told me, well it'll get better but you have to put 10-15K miles on it to 'loosen it up.' Ok, fair enough. It actually got better, something along the lines of 17-17.5, at least we're going in the right dirction. Wrong. The past few months it's gone steadily downhill, now I'm back around 14. I should add that I live in a warm climate (Texas) and have changed oil, filer, and fuel filters at 7,500mi intervals. My dealer told me that everyone is going through this, since the fuel is of lower quality, something about reducing some of the regulations. Sounds like more BS, what sort of mileage can you really expect? Thanks for any input.
