  1. geez Derek...not getting a lot of help from these guys are you?....

Whats funny is in the past during contract talks, the UAW would hand out flyers to all the employees. In a nut shell it said to tell all press/media...NO COMMENT.

What can I say, the media is good at what they do. They always manage to find the dumbest, the fattest or the loudest (sometimes a combination of ALL 3) to use in the news reals or quotes.... :gang:

  2. So DTP got them yesterday, not bad for a wind breaker. Now was it the union or the company that paid for them. The Jackets were made by UFCW workers here in the U.S. I know in the past when the company got us something (shirts, jackets) it was UFCW maid. Ironically, the stuff the union usually gets us is made in Taiwan or China...lol

  3. Any word on the possibility of going to 3 shifts 5/8's at DTP???

Been a while since we have heard anything. I know Wood haven already went to it. Any one from Wood haven (or is it Woodhaven), whats the breaks and start times???

  4. This seems to be a big problem with the UAW, quite a few of their members are misinformed about the two tier wage system.

none of the existing employees are being asked to take a pay cut, only new hires. I don't exactly know what happened at the

GM Lordstown plant but I heard that GM wanted everyone there to take a pay cut so that Cruze could be made in a US plant.

This is completely different to what Ford is asking for with its two tier wage structure.

I'm well informed about our two tier system, more so then most. My "rant" was directed towards people like snooter....Who feel I am an idiot not worth my pay. Little does he know, I'm worth more then he will ever be.... :shades:

  5. Bob, dont they move peoplr around the assembly line to alleviate said "boredom"?

The jobs at DTP were all rotated within the teams in the areas they work when we opened up. However if a part got missed or something was wrong it was hard for the company to punish any one because of the fact that 5-8 people had done that job that shift. So the company got rid of rotation and you are now stuck on what ever job you get placed. This sucks SOOOO bad. I started loaning myself out so I could do something different every day. Then I got stuck on a job that no body wanted to do/learn. So I signed up for tag relief when we started it. I now do 7-8 jobs (4x a shift) and am happy as hell.

    It's all a vicious cycle...

    "your not worth $28/hr."

    "then you do my job"

"I don't have to, I went to school".

Really, if I had to take a pay cut to $14/hr. Ford can kiss my backside. I'll go back to my old job at a grocery store for $13/hr. with less stress, less wear/tear on my body and with almost the same benefits and MORE vacation time. Just sayin....

*EDIT...sorry, don't know where that last rant came from....pent up hostilities????

  6. Quotes from Gary Walkowicz, the guy who King defeated for president of the union, and the guy who led the effort to vote down the additional concessions that would have given Ford the same concessions as GM and Chrysler:

Don't kid yourself, there is a definite mentality within parts of the union that Ford "took" the concessions, not that the union "gave" them. This bozo might not represent the majority of the union, but he represents too many member's point of view.

Please, the media is giving Gary WAY more credit then he deserves. He hasn't led anything, Hes just been the most vocal. Most (99.9%) of his "flyers" end up in the trash at the end of the hall...My god local 600 must spend a TON of OUR money every year on paper, just to get thrown out....

...And I had to lol at that part about "the guy who King defeated"....I guess, If you mean the 6 or 7 people from local 600 that nominated him....The UAW picked King...the delegation just voted to accept him.

  7. I've been waiting for something like this to pop up....It's standard procedure before EVERY contract for the UAW to put a strike vote to the membership. Gotta love how something that happens every 3-4 years gets people SOOO pissed and they cant wait to post how they hate the unions or how its going to make the stock price go down. What goes around comes around and its the same BS every time. You know, I've left a few auto forums because the people thought SO little of the people that build the vehicles they drive. I get real tired of having to defend MY life choice to people every 3-4 years.

This pic is going to get a lot of use....again.

  8. I don't believe the shocks are any different until you get into the Raptor?

The shocks are different. They just look the same. I cant remember off hand but I think we have 4 or 5 different shocks we put on the truck.

  9. Unfortunately, it's those that don't represent the majority that seem to be more vocal and get selected out as the "voice" of the majority :( At least if the mood is positive, then that's a great thing for any work environment.

I thought Ford and the UAW negotiations already started on July 29th: Ford Media

That was just a media event for everyone to look prim and proper and show off their big egos...
