there seems to be yet another TSB out on this, check with your local dealer as I don't have the # with me now

My 07 was shifting funny and after 4 reflashes that didn't solve the problem they replaced the mechatronic assemly. Well it shifted smooth as silk for about a week after that. About a week later i was driving and it decided to shift into 3rd and jump into limp mode. The engine light came on and so did the traction light. It will only drive in 3rd when the transmission is hot. Once it cools it shifts beautifully again. It's been at the dealer since monday and they are scratching there heads
Also had the mechtronics replaced (along with new tranny fluid now too) and I have put about ... 2k miles on it in normal driving around PHX, road trip to San Diego, hills, 110 temp, 55 temps, 90+ mph etc... NO ISSUES so far and hope it remains... :beerchug:

This is what I would like to ask of Ford---
Mr. Top Level Ford Executive,
Why don't you invite some of us long time, many, many Ford products buyers AND us very interested people to a discussion about what we think, want and desire in Ford products.
Not a short session where we answer some pre-set script questions - but a REAL discussion about what makes a car or truck desirable and what makes it a thing you just gotta have.
Well, why don't you?
I bet it would make some heads spin. But in it would be some keys to running with and then running away from the real or imagined leaders in the business.
I know i'd be willing to do this for sure!

If you have the keypad, you could simply press the 7*8 and 9*0 key simultaneously to lock all the doors.
Or just use the keyfob remote to lock the doors?

Fordbuyer you are the perfect Ford of America consumer. Low demands.
Agreed on this, market demands more now than he thinks is correct vehicle for $14k

There is a new TSB (07-10-12) that was released a few weeks ago that addresses a number of the transmission, idle, surging, and other issues.
Here is a link to a pdf file that details the TSB: http://www.zjstech.net/~library/20018/07%2...%2007-10-12.pdf
Just about everyone has noticed a marked notice in performance of the engine and transmission after the PCM reflash.
Thanks, will print off and take with me.. :shades:

Are you kiddin' me?
uh, no thanks... , but in person maybe looks a bit better, but i think this is a weak attempt.
Let's see, (Ford Management thought process...) we could bring the Transit or the Mondeo and new Focus to the US, .... let's choose the Transit cuz the designs of the Mondeo and Focus are too nice for the US buyers...
:shades:
-
FORD, are you listening to your customers, uh HELLO FORD???
BRING them to the US, ALSO, PUHLEEZE bring the MONDEO too!!
-
Who will it be marketed to?
R E N T A L F L E E T S !!
Sad.... there is so much good product in this class and you short cut your sale chances with .... this...
Again... no wagons in Ford line up anymore...
-
FORD:
Our Focus wagon has been a real jewel overall for us.... too bad you decided not to continue a successful model as i see them ALL the time and for their size are very useful, good on gas and provide a good alternative to the imports... but now... no more...
Sorry, Ford you may have lost my wife as your next customer since you offer NO WAGONS other than SUV's and she does want one...
VW Jetta... VW Passat... just to name a couple...
Wishing you'd not ignore the wagon folks, as they certainly would fit into the CAFE standards.......
Thanks!

My 06 has this issue and gotten the flash, but not resolved, maybe i will try an 07 to compare...
Designed this way, HA ... garbage... not designed on purpose to do this "slam, lurch, thud, jerk" when coming to a stop

-
I am having the issue and hope that there is a resolution on this as I have had it flashed and still have the issue....
32k miles and since Ford would not extend warranty on early 06's getting to the end of the stated warranty, thou i would think i will be grandfathered in on this with it being logged/reported/not resolved.
-
it could be cool or just really bright... but does appear to be a unique-ish color for an EXP for sure!
OH BTW no one had seen my color either until mine came in and glad we did it, really pops in the sun when clean, thou had we known we'd move to Phoenix, we may have gone with a lighter color.
-
Thankfully no issues like that with mine, hope you have it resolved now
-
I can tell you my experience with ordering was the complete opposite...
Knowledgeable, fast, no real BS...
BOWEN SCARFF FORD in Kent, WA...
I do not work for them, but they have been good to me!
Curtis is no longer there, but Brian is, Thanks guys, when you read stories like this your help was even more appreciated!
-
odd, i was looking at a slightly used, earlier made 06 five hundred and i asked about the new warranty, the dealer said although for released this new warranty later, all 06s will be covered under it free of cost.. ???
Better get it in writting.... could be cuz you are taking delivery later... but i dunno...
I don't want a check for $3k (thou i would not complain) what i want is to not be SHAFTED for buying early and NOT having the same WARRANTY coverage for the SAME MODEL YEAR vehicle...
This could be the last Ford i own, sorry.
-
Well Ford... you got me this time...
I have been a poster boy for you and my Explorer (which i still really enjoy), but the fact that us early adopters of your redone Explorers are now getting the shaft on this deal really chaps my hide.
OK so since i got a rebate when i got mine... that would equate out right?
:blah:
NOPE..
and here is why/how...
IF i were to purchase my or any 2006 Explorer... TODAY (or since 7/14/06) ...
I would NOT only get the warranty... but also the following Incentive Program Details:
$3000 Cash Back
Sorry, this is crap... crap crap crap... Ford, i hope you listen, cuz this stinks!

OK -- so short of buying and dragging the darn things to the dealership I can't seem to figure this out.
As such, I thought that I would ask around here.
Can I fit 2 Vari-Kennels (size large) behind the second row of seats (dogs facing outward)? This might seem like a small thing but it seems to be the number one thing driving my purchase of a new car.
The dimensions are 36 deep x 24 wide x 26 high. I'm neary sure that it can handle the width (with a little overlap and because it's not strictly a box). Likewise, the height isn't an issue. The real question (I think) is the length. Namely, how does the slope work? The diagrams I have only show the base length (38.6 inches) they don't show what you lose a little higher.
In any case, I would VERY VERY MUCH appreciate it if anyone has dogs and could tell me the answer. I'd really rather not buy an Expedition for the sole purpose of getting 3 extra inches in length. (insert crude joke about paying a couple grand for 3 more inches. )
Thanks,
Steve
Outward i take it you mean (left / right) vs. rear facing?
The width is no issue ... not sure about 2 of them with seats up... i don't have any crates anymore... but think it would fit. The dishwasher i just got had lots-o-room around it still....

Hey, speaking about the door panel area... I am moving from a 96 Explorer to an 07. One thing I noticed about the door panel is that arm rest, door handle, etc. gets in the way of my knee... the older models did not protrude into your leg room as much... that combined with the center console being larger and more into my right leg room, made me feel a bit cramped when I drove it... I like to throw on cruise control and stretch my legs...
Can anyone driving an 06 comment on that? Do you get used to it or do you also feel a little confined?
I felt almost the same in an Expedition... it has a similar armrest and center console... but a bit more room than the Explorer.
Jeff
I just rest my knee against the door pieces from time to time, you get used to them...
