  1. the toolmaker was already replaced over a month ago from st.louis his name is john lopez.yes there will be some back out millwrights welding is part of coa we dont have it yet there are no millwrights doing any welding at all in this plant it is done by welders. the millwrights dont want to weld and if you know some of them you dont want them welding either. who did you get this info from i would like to speak with them. if they have welders layed off they will have to place them somewhere if we have spots to fill i could see some coming here at KC. why are you so negitive?

Well I can think of at least 2 toolmakers that went during the 1st round of buyouts and I think it was more than that. So Mr. Lopez replaced one of the ones that left early in the year. DP has been talking about leaving for 5 or 6 years now and I am happy for him to leave, it will be good for him. As far as the welders go it is a wait and see with this group of bosses on what the next move is. The list is lame for all trades leaving in Jan. because the longer they wait the worse it will be for them, meaning that letting a few go a month seems smarter than going to the wire and dumping a bunch at once. I heard they think some will backout and bluffing, and some are, but some are just ready to go.

  2. Hey Sparky I've got a news flash for you, we are dying...in case you haven't looked outside you narrow little world in the past few years.....Ford is closing 16 plants....does that sound like a healthy company to you??? I think not...because you can only think about how a COA affects your little world, you refuse to realize how bad things are.....go take a look at other auto companies...Toyota, Honda, Nissan...you will not see the same trades structure that we have....now you have to ask yourself....Sparky how are we different??? well in case you don't know they are building plants while we are closing them...in fact there's a big one that just opened south of you...who knows, when the closing tour comes to your plant, you may be able to go to work there! but you'll have to change your old school attitude...change or die.....looks like you are content to hang on to the past and die, rather than change......much like a person going to the doctor and told that they are sick and going to die unless that take a certain medication....but they are smarter than the doctor, so they don't and DIE....that's you Sparky.....just keep ingnoring the signs, keep your head in the sand...if you'd asked most people in our plant a year ago if we would ever close, they'd tell you no way! but when the announcement was made, even the most hard-core people were all of sudden interested in trying to change, be more coopertive with each other and management...too late we are dying....so you go ahead and vote against a COA and encourage others to do the same...if you want to contribute to the death of your plant.....SAD!

It's surprising that you think Ford is dying..... no I take that back you have been sucked in enough to believe that. The only thing at Ford that is dying is the union because the ones like you are sucked in, go ahead drink the kool-aid. If Ford has lost as much money as they have claimed in the last 5 years that 20 billion would not be there. If you remember during the Firestone crap Ford had 23 billion in cash, over 5 years later they have 20 billion? The bookkeeping in all these companies is made to show things the way they want uneducated one to see it. It is like a boss I had years ago, he bid a job for xx amount knowing that he would make xx profit. When the job was over if he didn't make xx profit he claimed that he lost money on the job. Read the spin in his mind he did lose money because he didn't make what he projected the job to make.

I think you should go ahead and vote for COA, live a miserable life with the new rules at Ford and say well at least I have a job. Before I leave Ford if I get a chance to vote on COA it will be no for the ones that stay hoping that it doesn't get miserable for them. If I thought for one minute that this management was capable of telling the truth and actually caring about the rank and file things might be different. This is not the same Ford now that it was when you hired in and never will be again. Maybe you should do more research on COA, team concept, FPS, Lean manufacturing and any other effort that is intended to break a union. It was my belief that a orginization within a union was concidered against the union philosiphy but I guess I was wrong when it comes to the UAW.

  3. Hey hey now!!!!!!!Teamwork guy's We all have our place. When the line is running we know who is running it. When the line goes down we know who get's it back up again right. everyone adds Value. We must all see to it that we add to that value. :happy feet: :hyper:

It's ok Marty Nap just has done alot of trades dogging on this thread and maybe at NAP it is ok but not to me in KC. One of the first things I came to realize in a hurry is if the line is down, Ford is not making money sounds simple enough to me.

  4. I read that this week Prince Charles has decided to ground his fleet of planes and helicopters and start flying commercial. If the Prince is comfortable with security on commercial flights why can't Hollywood Fields and the rest of the free spending top Execs do the same? These kinds of perks are outrageous in a time when people are getting let go by the thousands destroying families, businesses and communities. A true leader leads by example. Man what a great Christmas present that would be!

Because MF thinks he is the king not a prince.

  5. I'm not advocating un-trained production people doing techinical work.....2 things; combine some of the trades into 2 basic skills, mechincal and electrical, next let production workers do some of the everyday mundane task on their own equipment, oiling, repairing an air hose...and of course lockout training. this has to happen in order to be competitive....change or die!

Like I said it starts with a hose, a plug, a balancer then the next thing you know these unqualified one think they can change a 480 fuse, fix a brake fill, or put the chain back together. What you think is mundane is STILL OUR WORK not yours or FPS's, is that so hard to get through your head? No matter how YOU look at it and your 30 years of dogging your trades (that are in YOUR UNION too) and thinking that are getting one up on you makes you a hypocrite. Who cares what SOMEONE else is doing working on a home project or stroking a boss, that is thier business not yours or mine. What does matter when they are given a job they do it period. Either way what you say is the way to change or die, well when all Ford has left is untalented, unskilled, and unqualified help, Ford will die.

  6. Ditto, brother. Your plant sounds exactly like Woodhaven. And, no 12's, no more Sundays, lucky to get Saturdays anymore. When untrained, unqualified and uneducated nimrods start doing our electrical repair work someone is bound to get seriously injured or worse. A lot of production people have been told by their supervisors to start watching how we fix this or that because it will be their job to do it soon. This is an unfortunate tragedy waiting to happen. Also, as we get more and more understaffed, we will see more accidents to personell, both skilled and unskilled.

The same ones that watch are the one staring at you the the deer in the headlights look when they finally call and it is some kind of screwed up. Just like anything when you watch someone make it LOOK easy you think that you should be able to do just as easy. Case in point the first time I tried to finish sheetrock myself.

Getting hurt is one thing I don't want to happen that is why I want all of these JACKS to back away when I am working on a job, IF I need help I will call another tradesman to help, someone I TRUST.

  7. Plenty of companies combine trades...but they train them first...these are the ones that will survive this down-turn....unless we change we'll go the way of Studebaker and American Motors...remember them? Tell me, what's the danger in an electrician removing a cover rather than waiting for a millwright? and don't tell me it's the rules...that's what I'm talking about...those stupid rules that make us uncompetitive....all you guys want to do is protect your little piece of the world.....get your equal amount of the overtime....sit on your ass and make 12 hours....work the Christmas Holidays and brag about making 5-6K in a week....then bitch and moan when asked to do something extra.....sad!

NAP must be way different than KC ( I don't think so but....) incedental work like taking a cover off or unplugging a switch to get to your work is not doing others work. Having jack of all trades is just that a bunch of JACKS. What you are talking about and what I am talking about are way different, I don't want a production worker, FPS cordinator, or a manager to do my work, it is that simple. This company talks about team work till they are blue in the face but they never looked at the ones that show the most team work when it counted the most, the trades on a big breakdown. As far as the overtime statement 12 hours has been gone here for over 2 years and pretty much Sundays too, an 8 or 12 hour Saturday is about all the time we get to see anymore. This year they haven't decided if they are working Christmas here and making 5-6K? I have never made that much then.

  8. Not sure how you came to these conclusions based on my post, but it's pretty typical of the your type....worried about protecting your little world and those restrictive work rules that make us uncompetitive with Toyota and Honda and even companies like Harley D....My warning to you is change or get run over by change..because it's coming... you need to come into the 21st century...you are sad...what a waste!

I came to my conclusions the same way your sorry ass did, you do not know me no more than I know you. The thing is I do MY job and you need to do yours for Ford to survive and unless you are an electrician doing electricial work is something that WILL get you hurt. Just because you see the little things that one does, like a screw in a cover, what about the principles that you know nothing about? When you are laying there with one arm burned to a crisp then tell me about COA and getting into the 21st century, because Ford will not give 2 shits about you when you get hurt. Let me ask you have you ever seen someone hurt (in person) from 480 volts? Was it pretty? First lesson in electricial work is to respect electricity, since you don't respect the rules I doubt that you would respect it.

  9. Changing the culture at Ford is like getting a meth head off the stuff. The first time they get close to changing something happens, they get worked up, forget to count to 10, and end up doing the same thing that got them in trouble to start with. It is kinda like being in a realtionship you can't change the other person, until that is understood and accepted it will never be perfect.

  10. It amazes me that you guys can't make a point without name-calling and putting labels on people....you need to face it..the days of the union running the plants are over...Ford, GM, Chrysler are shrinking along with the UAW and with that the power they once had...It's there for everyone (except you and your kind) to see...you choose not to...well you will go the way of the big 3.....like someone said earlier..this is not the 60's those days are behind us....

You say this shit on this post when several post ago you threw more shit on skilled trades than anyone in weeks. You are part of the problem with the union attitude today, me,me,me. You are one of the first ones to bitch when someone is getting a better deal than you, or you think it is alright to do other people's work because you are just trying to help out. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS. You are at work to do A job not everyone's job, if you could do that ONE job correctlly and not worry about someone else's your job would be TOP QUALITY. IF you are such a good troubleshooter or able to fix ANYTHING then you should be able to walk into the trades without an apprenticeship. Until you have spent the time to better yourself by going to school to be a tradesman or anything else to better yourself than all I see from you is a jealous little person.

  11. :banghead::banghead::banghead: GLOBALIZATION.....GLOBALIZATION.....GLOBALIZATION....IT ISHERE TO STAY. yOU CAN NOT CHANGE REALITY. WE HAVE TO COMPETE IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. IF YOU ARE NOT UP TO THE CHALLEGE THEN BAIL................I'M NOT SAYING IT IS RIGHT , I'M SAYING IT IS FACT, GET OVER IT. ADAPT AND LETS GET ON WITH LIFE....

Bailing. You can be competive without being stupid, just because someone tells you to do something doesn't make it right. If they ask you to eat a turd would you?

  12. What is the big deal about the COA? Do most people know what a COA is all about? Is picking up a broom that big of a deal? :banghead:

This is how it starts then it is only a little electricial work, just a fitting on a hose, just a chain, the next thing you know someone unqualified gets hurt or killed. When Ford tells his family sorry he shouldn't have done that he wasn't qualified and were not paying his bills then what? COA is just a way for the scabs to get away with more.

  13. U obviously like to write but do u like to read??? Ford didnt borrow 18bil to go into bankruptcy...do

u understand business 201...or even 101? This company will survive & if u dont think the critically

acclaimed new Fusion or Edge are exciting then go look @ a KIA my friend casue u dont have

much taste....im glad to hear you are takin a buyout cause the negative,sky-is-gonna-fall-type

isnt needed in a company movin as aggressively fwd as this one is right now.....Ford did right

by you & your family & if you were a honorable, loyal type you wouldnt look anywhere else but

the Ford store when its time to car shop.............

BTW, also meant to add i wouldnt be surprised if u file for bankruptcy f**knut!

    Take u r buyout & get the f**k out!

A little bit of help with your posts, you say you are working on an MBA but your post are like a kid texting on a cell phone, please spell shit out.

  14. doesn't work that way.

    Ford executives or line workers.

Maybe we should say that lineworkers dont get paid until we know that the vehicles are put together properly and wont have any assembly related issues...

and IF he agreed to such a setup... he's want 4 times as much money.

It should work that way, we are not talking about a job on the line here. If the trades have to go through written and hands on tests, show that they have 8 years experience, and pass a physicial then MF should be able to show more proof of being capable then a so called Mazda turnaround. Like it has been said on another thread until Mazda out sales Hyundai the turnaround is not that big. Other than that what has he done?
