  1. In layman's terms ...What's the difference between a bondholder and a shareholder? Thanks.

A bondholder acts as a creditor to the company...much like a bank is when you take out a loan and pay interest.

When you own shares in a company you are part owner of it.

If a bankruptcy occurs the bondholders would be paid back first. Common Stock holders get whatever is left.

  2. never said they weren't connected.....and you keep toeing the UAW's line....

That's your problem...you don't even recall what you say...it's your brain cells that aren't connected nap. Keep supporting those that want to do away with your retirement benefits. Just don't act bewildered when you see union members past and present on here fighting for what they have earned. If you see that as a bad thing then I suggest you use your insurance for a lobotomy...it's an old procedure, but I'm sure you can find someone out there willing to put you out of your misery.

  3. Anger...not me.....there's more to politics than money......

If you think that money and politics aren't directly related then you are more naive than I thought...it's pretty obvious money controls both sides of the aisle...just keep on toeing your party's line.

  4. when you can't conduct an adult debate you revert back the grammar school tactics.....name calling....

Don't fault those who disagree with the ignorance shown on your part nap...they (as am I) are probably wondering why you would support the very party that wants to dissolve the UAW.

To put it in another manner that might turn the light bulb on in that partisan dome of yours....why would you support the political force that will ensure your pension will be turned over to the PBGC? You are intelligent enought to know that you will only receive a portion of your pension entitlement in this case right (that's if the PBGC remains solvent)? Do you want a quasi-government agency to take over your pension nap? Doesn't that go against everything your conservative "blame the liberals for big government" ass stands for? To make matters worse they PBGC does not provide health care bennies.

As I see it many UAW members on this forum are very well aware of this outcome. You, on the other hand, are clueless. I'm sure in some way your twisted logic and misdirected anger will figure out a way to blame it all on Obama if this scenario plays out...wouldn't be the first time (or last).

  5. Section 338-20.5 is the only section that includes the statement "(G) True or probable country of birth". This section pertains to ADOPTED CHILDREN ONLY. Obama was not adopted.

    Obama Adopted by Native Americans

In a private ceremony, he was adopted into the Crow Nation and bestowed the name, “One Who Helps People Throughout the Land.”

“Senator Obama, welcome to Crow Country,” said Carl Venne, the tribal chairman.

    Obama Adopted!

Don't let the door hit ya George...

  7. Right, they took control by winning the '06 elections running on promises to fix the economy, .......pelosi was going to take us to energy independence....instead gas prices set a record.....and since you brought up the Iraq war.....why didn't they vote down funding?......you and I both know...the '08 elections....but now they'll control everything, so they (you) will have no one to blame but them!....my point in all of this is I see a pattern on here and in the media of excuses being made even before he takes office.......the economy is no much worse than it was 2 weeks ago and in everyone of his ads he was touting tax cuts for 95% of Americans.....how about the fact that they let the ban on off-shore drilling expire....just in time for the election and now the dems are saying they will reimpose it....say anything or do anything to get elected.....

    You're a mess man...

Why even read the rest of your tirade when the first sentence is flawed. Funny how soon you can forget recent history, huh nap?

    Get a grip.

    Democrats Win Control of House

Early Wednesday, the Democrats had enough seats in the House to push the Republicans out of the majority -- a development many experts attributed to doubts about President Bush and the U.S. occupation in Iraq.

In your sig don't you mean the worst President since Jimmy Carter? Good god...

  8. Excellent points on the myths of the D3.

Unfortunately, there are a ton of battles going on and many forces that stand behind blocking the bailout for the D3.

    Here is one example:

Senators Shelby and Sessions, both from Alabama, are staunchly opposing any bailout of the Big 3.

    Source

Oh...btw...Alabama has three major auto plants owned by Mercedes, Honda and Hyundai.

    Divide and conquer...

  9. Analysts at JP Morgan have already questioned whether the UAW is doing enough. Legacy costs and labor costs have already been brought up in the media.

This is not a bailout of the Big Three, this is a bailout of the United Auto Workers Union. That's what this is all about, folks. It is a bailout of the United Auto Workers Union.

Read the rest from Rush Limpbaugh here

At least Phil LeBeau on CNBC points out that the UAW has in fact already made concessions...not that that will matter I'm sure. This is a continuation of the demise of the middle class. First it was the steel industry...then the airlines...now the auto industry. Sad.

Phil LeBeau on CNBC talking about UAW

  10. I currently am running a roofing business, as business is plentiful in post-hurricane Houston. It is more physically intensive, dangerous, and requires far more skill than any job held by a member of the UAW. My employees (at all levels of the totem pole) work their asses off for better pay than most companies offer, but nowhere near the money that UAW employees demand and recieve. There are serious injuries on a daily basis. We have no retirement plans. We can't even offer medical insurance. Yet there are about 300 employees that have left their families across the country to work for me. They never complain

So I have great standing when I strike down the UAW. They don't have a clue what an honest day's work is. They don't have a clue what an honest wage is. Most of all, the UAW doesn't give half a shit about hard working Americans. They simply have no perspective from which to relate.

I'd be careful with blanket statements like that versa...you surely will generate some heated rebuttals. Don't believe everything you read regarding UAW workers being lazy and milking the system. Does it happen? Most definately. Does the media beat that point home? On a daily basis.

As with any company Ford, GM and Chrysler have their share of employees who on take it upon themselves to do as little as possible. Fortunately there are many UAW workers who pick up the slack and actually do more than they are asked. The system is not perfect by any means, but don't lump in the best of the Union workers with the shitbags that abuse the system. That is a very myopic stance on your part.

If you want an idea of what kind of work UAW members have done in the past look at the retirees. Many are hunched over with poor posture and suffer from severe arthritis due to performing repetitive tasks. Don't judge them til you have walked a mile in their shoes. I could go on, but you get my point.

  11. One thing is for sure...all those voters who thought that just the election of obama would retore confidence in the markets must be elated that they voted for him.....the markets have really responded....-800 points in less than a week!

Another thing is for sure...you haven't uncorked your head from your ass.

    Busch: Recessions Will Deepen

The fallout from the nuclear explosion in the credit markets continues to disperse throughout the world. November is when we see all the data for October and tells us what happened when high yield bond issuance, asset back commercial paper for credit cards, and the IPO market all went to zero. Now, we're getting the earnings and cash burn from companies that were most severely impacted.

  12. I will agree that the war has ruined the lives of many of our soldiers (many of which are my closest friends) and their families, but I will reserve my judgment of it's affect on the Iraqi people for at least a decade. To say that we have ruined their lives currently is just rash. Things take time. History teaches us this.

I think history is being made tonight my friend...John McCain is giving his concession speech. He is a stand up guy. I will always admire him for his service as a Soldier and a Senator.

I have many friends who have served and have seen first hand the effect on families as well. One must wonder how many more lives would have been ruined if we "stayed the course in Iraq" for years to come. It's time we focus on our backyard...

  13. Bush might have made it easier for people to ruin their own lives, but Obama will do so directly. You are talking about the credit and bankruptcy laws, correct?

I personally foresaw the credit crisis well before it began. I haven't suffered a penny from it. Any money I lose, I can only blame on me.

Actually, I was referring to the Iraq war. But, since you mention it - the fact that bankruptcy laws for the individual changed while bankruptcy laws for business stayed the same was a foreshadowing of where his allegiance stood and what was to come.

The Republican party is in shambles. They need to regroup and find some new blood. They have swung too far right and the last two elections speak volumes regarding their disconnect with the American people.

  14. Absolutely. For me personally (in my current situation), I will benefit greatly from Obama's policies. I'm still leaving. I will not sit around and watch Obama ruin people's lives just because it benefits me. I never thought I would say this, but I'm applying for Canadian Citizenship. Things could be worse I guess. I figure I'll start an OEM parts supply business close to the Michigan border. Either that or I'll start farming Marijuana for illegal distribution in the US. :hysterical:

Ruin peoples lives...thats funny. Especially when you think of how many lives Bush ruined.

Speaking of ruining lives...take a look at Fox News...bunch of whining f***ing maggots. This shit is entertaining. Especially watching Turd Blossom and that wing nut William Kristol. Screw them and their neocon agenda...they just got pissed on. :hysterical:

  15. Its already been established that factcheck.corg cant get its facts straight.

    Here is just one example.

    http://www.plumbbobblog.com/?p=1417

Also ,why would Obama have this birth cert. thing still hung up in court

if he didn't have anything to hide?

    get real.

Is this all you can come up with Dale? Jeebus man...the case was thrown out!!! Get over it already...

Judge rejects Montco lawyer's bid to have Obama removed from ballot

A federal judge in Philadelphia last night threw out a complaint by a Montgomery County lawyer who claimed that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was not qualified to be president and that his name should be removed from the Nov. 4 ballot.

Philip J. Berg alleged in a complaint filed in federal district court on Aug. 21 against Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission, that Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya.

Berg claimed that the Democratic presidential standardbearer is not even an American citizen but a citizen of Indonesia and therefore ineligible to be president.

He alleged that if Obama was permitted to run for president and subsequently found to be ineligible, he and other voters would be disenfranchised.

U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick had denied Berg's request for a temporary restraining order on Aug. 22 but had not ruled on the merits of the suit until yesterday.

Obama and the Democratic National Committee had asked Surrick to dismiss Berg's complaint in a court filing on Sept. 24.

They said that Berg's claims were "ridiculous" and "patently false," that Berg had "no standing" to challenge the qualifications of a candidate for president because he had not shown the requisite harm to himself.

Berg could not be reached for comment last night.

The nonpartisan Web site FactCheck.org examined the original document and said it was legitimate.
