  1. we have 2 wiper lines, one is to be gone by the end of this year and the other is due out by next years shut down. there was a reduction in commitee people last election because of the lose of people, i think it droped by 2. as far as black lake trips, im not sure. havent heard of one in a while.. but some were just out to vegas :P a lot of it is 13yrs+ i have 6yrs and there is probably only 120 or so out of 1800? that are under me. and 70 of those were hired in by visteon. from 6-13yrs i'd say make up maybe half at best with the retirements.
  2. damn that got around quick, just heard it on afternoons. today they closed the biggest parking lot at the plant to heli out machines.. im guessing to make more room for the incoming.
  3. now i realize why i stopped coming to these forums.. its just full of bitter people that want to bring down anyone they can with thier doom and gloom conspiracy theories. i've been told i was getting fired/laid off the day i hired in.. im still working. my uncle with 38yrs in the plant said he's heard the same thing his whole time there. i see a pattern..i basically will have to listen to the doom and gloom rumors as long as im there and people saying the plant is closing, as they wont go away. as long as my ID works on the door in front i dont care.
  4. i actually dont remember voting on the ACH spinoff.. we had to vote to go back to ford or be a part of the spinoff. our vote had nothing to do with the other plants. it was either we vote yes to go to ford or we voted no and went to ACH.. and that still doesnt answer the question, so if they only used us for votes why are they investing 100mill+ in this plant instead of just closing it, because they have thier votes already. they are bringing in more work then what was here before, so imo they obviously want this plant to suceed and they want to build/sell parts right? and like many have said do the votes matter? according to a lot of people the union will pass it regardless of what we want by just making up vote results, so again why would the company bother making raws and sterling part of the deal if they could just get the votes anyway from the union? and they are getting rid of most of the jobs here and bringing in profitable ones like canister, starters etc. so again why would they do that if they didnt want to make parts?
  5. i'd rather ride a fuckin bike to work then drive a fucking toyota.
  6. votes for what?? if they dont want to build parts why invest 100 mill+ into this plant for votes? as for seniority here, most of it is 13yr and up. after 2000 there were no new hires until 04 when visteon hired about 70. i hired in in 2000, and i'd be lucky to have 120 under me out of 1800 or so.
  7. This plant (raws) is a good place to work. there is a LOT of open floor space right now to make room for canisters and starters and some other things, we could easily take 300 people, i believe this plant has 1800 or so people and at one point had 6000.. so 300 is nothing. they just had bids up for one new canister line thats already in here, 3 people... suppose be 5 per shift soon, its small.. but our chairman said that that line would be 150 people when the rest of it gets here We were told that this plant is not going to have any available floor space by 2009 with all the products coming in.. like canister, starters, coil and some others. and our blue oval is on the water tower, with our new signs going up over shut down. I can only hope this plant does as well as higher ups are saying it can.
  8. bring your own. 2 weeks ago it hit 93 outside.. i work afternoons and they brought popsicles around at 1015pm lol.
  9. i know that all too well... i've been on the bad end of a lot of 'deals' by our local.
  10. They call it TLO there because it was only temporary, and i had a return date, even though it was moved back a couple times.. anyway, i went back monday to another area, where im covering the pieces of shit that don't come to work, which is what i was doing before i left.. now this is what i dont get: i was on a job before i was laid off covering people that were on medical.. laid off because someone came back from medical(yet everyday 4-5 people dont show up anyway for whatever reason) gone 7 weeks, and in that time they used O.T. to cover not only the 4 people per 3 shifts that normally dont come in but to also cover the job i was doing. so i come back, they put me in a different area again covering people that are either on medical or dont show up, yet the other area which is a better job STILL has people missing, i had a girl tell me "i dont know why they have you over there now, we need people here, i worked 79hrs last week" 79hrs on a week they had no work for me there and i was laid off.
  11. this must of been a joke. no one would be assinine enough to post this seriously.
  12. It's a temporary layoff, they told me at first it was just 2 weeks, then called me and said 4, then jerked me around some more and gave me a return date of the 22nd. i didnt sign up for it, i didnt want it obviously. they said "you're tlo'd" and i had no say. the union was fine with it.
  13. i've been TLO'd now for 7 weeks. i know some people out there have been out longer, but this is my rant.. heres my gripe, i've been out 7 weeks, and people in the area i was working are working 12 hours a day.. yet i was told they didnt need people? my buddy in the department i was working in calls me up and says they have 4 people missing on EVERY shift everyday some on medical, and yet they cant let me work? for the past year i've been moved around the plant put on different job/shifts, because supposidly there are no jobs to put me on permenately, funny though a guy i hired in with that was fucking fired 4 TIMES, was just brought back again before i was laid off and put on a job permenately.. no job for me? of course this fine young black man that was fired the first time for forging FMLA papers, brought back with pay and fired 2 more times for attendance, called back in and failed the piss test, fired and brought back in again? WHAT THE FUCK??? and here i sit.. i was called to back this coming monday, but who knows how long. and my union was ok with that, and they fought to get that piece of shit his job back.. is that fuckers union dues more important than their reputation? i guess so. /rant
  14. probably means with cola, with cola im at 27.95 and i laugh when i hear people tell me, "this department sucks, we have to work bell to bell, and no long breaks"
  15. i could get hit by a bus tomorrow and killed too.. doesnt mean it will happen.
  16. lost? how do you lose a computer with that info on it?
  17. so much for "it doesnt matter, the union will make it pass"
  18. "$900. Mill ain't shit over a 6yr. period." thats aint shit?.. wish i was bill gates and had that in my pocket.
  19. this all reminds me of that scene in Monty Pythons Quest for the Holy Grail, with the knight that just keeps putting up a fight that he cant win and just keeps losing his parts :P
  20. overtime? whats that? i faintly remember it last year.. but just barely
  21. $900 million commitment is aimed at improving the company's competitive position while ensuring that UAW jobs stay in the United States. yeah, i'll keep my 3% raise next september, and just go work over seas if this doesnt pass.
  22. :D that reminded me of a skit on i believe it was MADTV where a women goes to the psychiatrist and she starts telling him her problems and he tells her.. whenever you start worrying just remember these two words... STOP IT!.. and he yells STOP IT at every problem she has.. if she would just stop it she wouldnt have a problem. just like gays... STOP IT! lol
  23. everything i've heard is that the floor space in area A is for the ypsi lines.
