  1. At AAP the rumor is if you take the 35K then you will have to pay for your Medicare B part. If you chose not to take the $$ then your Medicare Part B is paid. I think this is hoky but thought I would ask some of the plants that have received their incentive paperwork.
  2. You would not believe the rumors going around about closing times. I've heard and read in August 06. Now vendors are saying Oct or Dec 06....shows you do not know who to believe.
  3. No crap is going down the line. Everyone is coming to work and doing their job. Dejected yes but not in to retaliation. I am actually driving a rental Taursus at this moment. I agree that everyone had to get it off of their chest and where better to do so!
  4. I totally agree with you. He does not know that the life expectancy of an assembly line worker is 1-2 years after retirement. You are paid for the aches and pains, the worn out arms, knees, and hips. I have had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands, have been told that I need one hip and one knee that needs replacing. Now tell me how I am overpaid for my job? It is like the coal miners, they are paid to do their job. They get paid decent wages because of the job type. The difference is that the nonunions will just toss the hurt workers to the side and get another worker to do the job. Have you read some of the Jap's workers blogs??? Also, the pay at most of the Jap plants here is comparble to ours. They just do not have as many retiries as GM and Ford do. Wait until they have 50 years on them. They will be singing the same song. Oops they will just change the rules, contracts mean nothing...paper...
  5. You were paid to do a job. They did not guarantee you a lifetime job. I know that you are upset. I am too but that does that address the problem. If you want the benefits that Ford is to offer for closing, you have to play by their rules. Try to think of anyother job that you had that would offer anything besides a "good by" when they had either a reduction in force or closed their doors. Look around, it is happening to other people in other companies. Change is something that has to be done. It is happening with Ford and will happen with us. I know that we worked our butts off but we were paid for it, otherwise you would have left along time ago. No one held a gun to your head to stay at work. Yes, I will have a hell of a time getting another job like this-but that is not Ford's responsibility. My last name is not FORD. I only worked for that company and did the best job I could and will continue until my number comes up.
  6. Lighten up, Ted! You will learn that you are a number anywhere you work, unless you work for yourself. They paid us for the work we do. They did not guarentee a job for the rest of our life. No one does that, even the military reduced the benies that they offered years ago. I know that you are upset, we all are!!! But that is not going to help or change the situation. Most job cuts give you two weeks salary and that is it. At least, we know six months in advance and can plan accordingly. Now is the time, if you do not have other training, to go to college or trade school. If you wish to continue in the auto industry try Kia, BMW, Hyundia, Honda, etc, just down the road. It might mean that we have to relocate. Yes, it is not what we wanted but you can bet your bottom dollar that this is not what Ford wanted either. They would prefer to sell cars. They prefer to have more market share, etc... We have cycled through this before, remember the 70's. Look at GM, Delta, Bellsouth, etc just locally cutting work force, companies have to change with the seasons or they get left behind. Ford got behind and now the change is here. We are the casualities. Remember that they paid us to do a job. We did it. We did not sign a contract stating that they would take us to raise. We went to work for the money, they did not hold a gun to our heads and made us work. We got paid for that job. We had a job before this and now we will find another. We do have to say that Ford did give us a good salary and benefits while it lasted. It will be hard to find another with the same. Remember......... Change is inevitable..
  7. I was at the Sheffield Plant when it closed and left with my head held high doing the best job I could. I will do the same at the AAP when we close. My head will be held high and I will do my best work. We are a quality plant and I hope we will go out a quality plant.
  8. Also a "rumor" was circulating that if AAP voted no, they would be closed. Only 400 out of 2700+/- voted.
  9. It will be a long December if we sit and worry. Get your education benefits to work while you can, anyone can be on the short list. Remember, what is logical to you is not necessary logical to the next person.
