  1. I think it will be a cold day in hell before you see indy. :happy feet: :hysterical:

Why the hell do I want to go to Indy? Im in Sunny Tampa, Florida! 70 degrees! If I feel like it, I'll PM you a pic of the Tribune in the morning while I'm on the beach! Yes, that will be my middle finger in the pic as well!

I think you need to hit that spell check before you post, also I have read that the Fiesta will be a $14,000 car loaded. So, learn to spell and then do your research!

  3. Nothing wrong with brainstorming.

However depleting the funds for us or any other UAW worker is not right in my opinion.

I hope more feel as you do, the sad truth is more than likely come next months membership meetings we will once again see 3/4 empty halls. I mean as big a vote as this was the facts are only 50% roughly turned out to vote.

At some point we all need to realize we are the union, and the more we get involved the more the leaders can actually hear what is important for us a a whole.

All the UAW represented companies would love to see the strike fund depleted. If that were gone, you better believe that they would love to have the UAW strike them and the UAW had nothing to give the workers, so the companies would just wait it out or just use permenant replacements. Ask John Deere workers about those permenant replacements!

As for the Union Hall being filled up now at the regular meetings, NAH! Aint gonna happen! Most are too sorry and lazy to give 1-3 hours out of their life to attend. I remember when you couldnt get a seat at a meeting. Not you cant fill 20 of them even if you bribed people to be there!

  4. If a person was on ILO for 4 months and they were called back & worked less then 40 hours. That person had only one pay check then laid off again. Are Union Dues supposed to be taken out ?? I thought you had to have a minumiun of 40 hours and have at least 2 pay periods in order to have Dues taken out. What is the proper call on this ??

    Thanks for looking,

If you were in JSP or receiving SUB ,then you were paying Dues outta your SUB check, so you would still be on the regular dues paying schedule. The only way you stop paying dues is to quit receiving some sort of income from Ford.

  5. This isnt fear mongering! This is reality!

    Look North:

The CAW is salavating at the chance to get work for the Windsor and St. Thomas Plants. CAW emphasizes importance of new Ford contract as negotiations resume.

I have nothing against those in Canada, but we need to take care of our own backyard with a Yes vote from the remaining plants that havent voted yet. I understand why KCAP voted NO if the KUGA is the Escape replacement, but the Kuga being built at LAP is for export only and KCAP will build the US version.

Sharonville, Romeo Engine, OHAP, Lima, Walton Hills, AAI, Cleveland will all be either reduced capacity if not closed beyond 2013.

Look south, you better believe that vendors in mexico are willing and able to make more engine and transmission components if not the whole thing. Ever hear of Getrag, Aisin or the dreaded ZF? All can make and have made tranmissions and parts for Ford.

Look far, far east! You better believe China, Thailand and even Korea are looking at making engines and stampings becuse of the relaxed enviromental laws.

Keep voting no, then you'll have your hat in your hand at the 2011 negotiations begging for work as your plant is negotiating a closure agreement!

  6. If you all think the election is rigged, then break out that spine and put your money where your mouth is!

File an NLRB charge and objection to the voting!

Be DAMN sure you can prove any irregularities or the NLRB will charge YOU!

When you make the charge, you say the election committee aint worth a damn and you have no faith in them. You have to make personal accusations against the committee, not the elected or appointed local officers. The election committee is the ones your making the accusations against, not the IUAW either! You have to have physical proof, not hear say or what you might think!

Be careful, you might get what you wish for!

  7. "Most everyone I talked to voted no," said one worker, who asked not to be identified.

I thought this big VOTE NO campaign was about those that STOOD UP and was putting their money were their mouth was???? Now all the sudden they want to say they voted no but wont put a name to to it!

    Talk about spine-less!!

  8. If our wages are that much lower from somebody in Europe, why will Ford not commit to building the Transit Connect here, and why is the Ranger replacement not announced for a U.S. Plant?

HMMMMMMMM! In a thread I started today A Retiree's Opinion, I said "Romeo, Lima, Cleveland, Sharonville, OHAP, Louisville and several former ACH plants in SE Michigan really, really will be the victors here (possibly Sandusky too) if this passes". Looks like it's starting to see some 'light-of-day' to what I had said!

Also, the Transit Connect will probably be built in the US, in Twin Cities. Twin Cities has only 300 full time Ford employees and almost double 'temps' they want to make 'Full time 2nd Tier'? They will make money hand over fist and the stock price will double if that plant has a majority at 2nd tier making a van for export! That van will be for export also because of the falling dollar. Why do you think Toy'motor' wants to beef up production here in the US also?

You might ask ,what's in it for OHAP? I'll do some more digging, but I think OHAP will be happy also!

    Vote YES!

  9. Then let them make an announcement today that they are going to recall the uaw to Michigan and rewrite the offer in 100% clear language with absolutely no confusing debatable wording. So there is absolutely no doubt in our minds that this is a good deal for the membership. Then we can clear our minds and go in and vote on something that is clear and not misleading. No more of this interpretation bull pitting the membership against one another.

Now I can agree with Dale143 about this! It does need to be clear and ambiguous language!

  10. To shore up veba?

My friend, that would be illegal since the Strike Fund is not only funded by autoworkers, but also nurses, casino workers, John Deere, New Holland, Harley Davidson and the countless other facilities that are UAW represented.

What they can do with the strike fund is divert some of the monies and use them for collective bargaining purposes, aka organizing.

If you have a big issue with it, then file a NLRB charge!

I dont know why almost everyone on BON seems to think the strike fund belongs only to Ford workers or the Big 3? I just dont get it!

  11. nick needed to do something cause he was losing support when hotrod left. knowing he will lose the next election he looked at this as a way of getting votes from the confused members. the ones that alway go against the gran, or the one that bit#$ about everything but never do anything about it, or the ones that never go to meeting but will ask what happened.

if this gets voted down, i have a strong feeling that there are going to be some pissed off people getting laidoff. what will nick do then???? u guys really need to look at whats going on :shades: :shades: :shades:

I dont know the folks in question up there in Michigan, but it seems as if they are playing politics with the media. They can have a quote in the paper saying they are voting this down, but how they actually vote, know one knows but them and the ballot box. They are trying to garner re-election votes as if they have 'Stood Up' to the company.

If this fails and the layoffs come, then will he still look like a hero?

    Better think about this!

  12. Hello All,

I am a retiree from the Sharonville Transmission Plant. I have read the new modifications. I have had the whole thing explained to me. I couldnt make it to the Local meeting on Wednesday, but from what I'm told only about 250 between 3 shifts bothered to show up. (250 out of 1600)

First of all, the VEBA wasnt touched and I thank the IUAW for that. Jan 1, 2010, I'll then be on VEBA!

YES, In March of this year, the INTL gave up COLA, but that was going to be lost anyway because of the math equation used for COLA and the actual cost of living had gone down by $.99, COLA was at $1.03 with a $.05 defferment to VEBA anyway, so you wasnt getting COLA. But COLA has been suspendid and if the cost of living goes back up, you will be missing COLA, at least until Sept 2011.

YES, in March of this year the INTL suspended JSP (GEN).

YES, in March of this year the INTL suspended ETAP

YES, in March of this year the INTL suspended NVRAP for those on layoff (although that has been re-implemented)

YES, in March of this year the INTL suspended the Day after Easter holiday

YES, in March of this year the INTL suspended the Christmas Bonus

YES, in March of this year the INTL suspended any and all profit sharing bonus's

YES, in March the INTL agreement saved the company $500 million a year with the above cuts.

Yes, in March the INTL did get TAP for those on ILO and the company did comeback to the INTL to take it back and the INTL told them NO!

I was alot concerened about the 'No Strike' clause. That 'No Strike' clause, if you actually read it says that the UAW wont strike over wage IMPROVEMENTS or gains or raises, whatever you want to call it. The UAW can strike if the company tries to reduce wages. This is a one time thing also in 2011, this wont carried be over to 2015. If the UAW asks for a 4% raise and the company counter offers a 1% raise and neither can agree then off to the arbitrator. The arbitrator looks at the offer the company has made at 1% and at the request of 4% that the UAW has made. You will get at least the 1% because that is where the arbitrator has to start. The arbitrator then has to decide if anything above the 1% is awarded to the UAW.

In this current modification, show me anywhere it takes money out of your pocket? Show me anywhere it takes jobs away? Some stuff in this agreement, Ford CAN NOT say publicly about because of other vendor contracts would be violated and early next year, those contracts end and Ford will be making those vendor parts back in Ford facilities, where they belong!

Money was taken from you in March, but not this time! Read it, then read it again! Go to your meetings and ask the questions, dont let those here on BON make a decision for you. There are those that are stuck in 1965 and they refuse to catch up to the modern times!

Romeo, Lima, Cleveland, Sharonville, OHAP, Louisville and several former ACH plants in SE Michigan really, really will be the victors here (possibly Sandusky too) if this passes. Up to 8400 new hires are predicted between late 2010 and 2015! In Sept 2015, the bottom 20% of new hires will stay at that level, the others will bump into the top level! So if they hire 8400, then only the bottom 2100 will be on 2nd tier and the other 6300 will bump into the top tier! I would love to have any plant have a 2nd tier wage problem! That means everyone is back to work! For those not liking the 2nd tier, you need to look at alot of other Union contracts, over 70% have a 2-tier wage system, just ask any that work in the steel mills!

If I could vote, I'd give it a YES!

  13. do we have the right to vote if we are on ilo status? :reading:

YES! you have the right to vote while your on ILO, TLO &/or JSP.

If your dues are paid, you are considered a 'Member in GOOD Standing' therefore giving you the right to vote!

If you were told no, you better get a second opinion!

  14. Where were you ILOed? Must have been recently!! Don't worry though there should be enough jobs in Dtown pretty soon!

Captain, our local has had folks on ILO since August 2008. Most are from the Batavia Plant that closed last year.

An offer was made to anyone in Ohio, working or ILO'd to go to Sandusky. They had 154 job openings. Of course, most were taken from people that were working, mostly OHAP, to get them off the line. Some from OHAP had RTBU right to go back to Sandusky. So, those with low to no senoirity in Ohio, they are still on ILO with the TAP & benefits clock ticking! Some will loose benfits Nov 31, 2009!

  15. I'd rather Ford make sure we in Detroit metro area can watch every frickin home Lions game.

Buy out whatever tickets needed that week to make a sellout. And all day you would hear about how it's brought to you by Ford.

Stand behind their product and what not.

I'm no expert here, but I think the NFL has something to say about the owner buying all the seats, since all the teams revenue share.

Now if Ford Motor Company would buy the seats, not the Detroit Lions then maybe you would have something there. But if FoMoCo bought the seats, then they'd better not have a single person on ILO-TLO-JSP or any one out of work and the VEBA would be fully funded + 10%! They have money to buy football seats, they have money to pay people to work and for retirees benefits!!

  16. How did he do it??? Arbitration by lawhas to draw decisions from the elements of the agreement and the intentions of the parties. Those intentions are usually found in past arbitrations. Now, gong forward, arbitration by a large percentegae favors the company for acouple of reasons.

    1. they keep a better paper trail on individual employees.
    2. they keep records of grievances and disiplnary action at many levels (plant/region/company) that will support their positions.
    3. they have floors of labor relation who's job it is to develop books to standardize LR applications and intent drawn from Arbitrations.
    4. Plant labor reps are more capable to write for arbitrations vs. union reps who really are not prepared for the practice, leaving the union at a disadvantage from the get go.
    5. the union does very little to train, support, or develop plant reps in writing or arbitration practices.
    6. members fail to demand reps be capable in writing or arbitration practice--it's usualy good ole boy elections.

Arbitration is not your friend as future so surprisingly says.

Wow, you are very mis-informed. When the UAW goes into arbitration, a team of lawyers prepares the questions to be asked and how to be answered. They play devils advocate and research any possible answer the arbitrator or opposing side may have. Usually the INTL has the arbitration team do the arbitrating anyway. Then after they argue the case before the arbitrator, the team of lawyers has to write a brief argument for the arbitrator, kinda like closing arguments in a trial. Then the arbitrator will take the testimony from each side, do research for or against, make a ruling and state why the ruling was made. Usually the losing side then has to pay for the arbitration services.

    Been there..................

  17. Isn't it true that union members can choose to donate their yearly dues to a charity? Let us all do this and see what int thinks then.

    The answer is NO!

You do have the right to have refunded to you each month the amount of your dues that pays for political purposes. Any amount that goes toward the collective bargaining process will not be refunded.

If you go to your Local, tell them you want to see the breakdown of where your dues dollars go, and they will have this available to you at all times, due to a NLRB decision, you will see that less than 1% of your monthly dues are given to a political cause.

    Lets use even numbers here:

If your dues were $50.00, then only $.50 = 1% would be refunded to you. Now are you really going to go after the $.50?

But, it is your right to have it refunded!

  18. Hmmmmm lets see, advertise to a male audience that buys trucks and work vans.

Advertise to the male dominated NASCAR crowd, oh, but wait lets also advertise by sponsoring race teams and our logo will go 200-500 laps in a 4 hour tv setting.

Advertise to the male dominated Moster Truck crowd, oh but wait, lets sponsor the most famous Monster Truck of all time, Bigfoot.

Lets advertise while the family sits around the tube together and watches college or pro sports.

Try advertising in Auto related and Playboy magazines.

    NAHHHHH! That wont work.

Ford should just advertise in Women's Day magazine and sponsor Oprah.

While Ford is at it, have a contest in conjunction with Kotex to find the hidden key in a box of Kotex! Peel the wrapper back and attached to the string.............

Oh, but oh, lets sponsor American Idol and that will draw millions of new customers!

    Yeah, that'll boost sales!

If you didnt get the feciousness or some may call it sarcasm of this post, then my friend you have no business telling someone where to place their advertising! I'm glad your not in charge of it!

BTW, they tried the American idol thing, it didnt work!

  19. Every member of Management in this Facility tell lies. We have a very Hostile Superintendent named Joe Barnes. And we have a Supervisor Brad Stockhoff that will tell any lie to get his work done, And Stalks the members while there working. And who is behind all of this?? Paul Nielson the Biggest Fat Liar in the Division of FCSD. When they close our building were will you go?? Unemployment Line?? And we get no assistance from our Union. What a shame. They can do whatever they want with no repercussion's. Sadd Day's ahead. I'am happy that I have a job, I will admit, and I thank God everyday. But it dosent have to be this Hostile of an Environment. :censored::censored::censored::banghead::banghead::banghead:

What are they lying about? whining on BON with your hanky in one hand and a lollipop in the other doesnt tell anyone what the real issues are.

If you have a real beef, then take it 'outside the box' meaning by-pass local representation. If your Intl rep won respond to your satisfaction, then call the INTL yourself.

  20. Ok, go ahead and jump ship to the IBEW. They are fine Union, good at what they do. I'm not going to knock the IBEW.

    But......

A couple of things to consider.

    1) If times get tough and some elctricians need to be scaled back and then they have production time, under the UAW agreement, they can bump back into production. If they were IBEW, then they couldnt bump out a UAW production worker. 2 separate Unions, 2 separate contracts.

    2) Ford could also say they dont want to bargain with the IBEW because they already have an agreement with the UAW.

    3) If you were to jump ship and Ford agreed to bargain with the IBEW, then it would be day 1 seniority, Ford wont honor previous seniority and they dont have to honor your hire in date of seniority.

    4) Your UAW pension contributions would stop on your last date of being UAW represented. If you have 24 years UAW service then you would only get 24 years pension.

    5) They already have a 401K for new hires, what makes you think that they would agree to a defined pension for IBEW? Toyota of all companies was the last defined pension plan opened and guaranteed by the PBGC and that was in 1986.

    6) Bye Bye VEBA or any retiree health care.

I can go on and on, but I think Ford would love it if the Electricians would vote to be IBEW. Clean slate for Ford and the IBEW, would have to bargain from the ground up. not where your curently at!

Just do some research on the GM-Delphi deals and see where the smaller Unions got squat and the UAW workers did 'ok' considereing the circumstances. Look at GM-Moraine, OH. They were IBEW-CWA and they are done. At the GM-Dayton, OH parts plant, they were UAW and got to transfer to another UAW represented plant. The IBEW-CWA got severance and thats it!

    Just some points to ponder!

    from one electrician to another.......................

  21. We have some folks in our Local now getting TAP. They are in week 2. I dont know what state you are in, but in Ohio, unemployment runs a week behind SUB, so the last week you file unemployment, that will kick in your TAP.

You can receive TAP 3 ways.

    1) File your unemployment as normal. The unemployment office then sends an electronic message to Ford letting them know you filed. TAP is figured your base wage ($28.50 X 50% X 40) or ($28.59 X 20 ((this is a little easier))). Then TAP subtracts what you are getting from unemployment. Lets use round numbers. If you get $600 from TAP and you get $400 from unemployment, then TAP subtracts the unemployment.

$600 TAP - $400 unemployment = $200 from TAP. Giving you a total of $600.00 for the week. $200 from TAP + $400 from unemployment.

    2) You go out and find a job that pays more than your unemployment benefit. Using the numbers from example #1, you gross $401 dollars or more from your other job, take that pay stub to labor relations, fill out a SUB-type card, they process it, and you will get the full $600 from TAP. Giving you a total of (whatever your tax rate is) dollars from your new job + a taxed TAP benefit at your normal tax rate. You can do well with this method.

    3) You go get a job, you only gross (using the same numbers as example #1) $200 from the new job. You then have to file unemployment because unemployment usually pays you $400, so unemployment then pays you $200. Your TAP is then $600 - $200 (unemployment) = $400.00 + what ever you get at your new job. TAP will NOT pay you the full benefit unless you exceed the full amount allowed from unemployment, in example #1 it is $400.

#3 is a bit confusing at first. If you are rejected from unemployment, you WILL NOT get a TAP benefit.

TAP only subtracts unemployment benefits NOTHNG ELSE! (other than regular taxes)!
