Thats all fine and dandy, but, your dreams = shattered. Because, I am willing to bet my life, that by 2010/2011 there will be a new Ford Fusion. Based on the amazingly good European Ford Mondeo. Mondeo > ALL OTHER MID-SIZE SEDANS.
GM = Fail. Saturn = Lamest brand since, well, Scion. Aura = Too ugly, too expensive and too un-economical.
-
The Taurus is superior to the Impala in every way. End of discussion.
-
You make it sound like Sierra or Silverado are important. They've only been around since, what, the 1970's? Same as the Toyota Pickup? I am neither bothered, concerned or otherwise worried because Silverado/Sierra are meaningless. I'll care when Toyota surpasses Ford's F-Series.
-
It's alright. Fusion really needs something more then the Sport. Something faster, and more performance-oriented like an SVT variation (as you suggested in your picture) or something like that.

Aspen outsold the Navi in it's first month? Ouch..
That does not say much, because Aspen is not only smaller and cheaper, but its got a Hemi. Which is, quite possibly, the most over-used engine name in car engine history. If it is called 'Hemi' it must be awesome. Right?

It seems that all of them had sales decline except for Nissan and GM. .

There is a huge difference between the two that means the world. The Outlook seats eight, the Taurus X seats seven. Meaning that people like my family will buy the Outlook, and not even consider the Taurus.
-
I agree on every argument Clarkson had against that awful car. Its ugly, true. Its not fuel efficient, very true. Think about it this way. The 1984 Ford Tempo 2.0L Diesel got 43MPG. Thats a twenty-four year old, American, economy car. The 2008 Smart ForTwo CDI Diesel gets over 90MPG. The Prius is also very expensive for what it is. Its also slow and weak. It just sucks.
-
I actually agree. And the Taurus is the safest mid-size four door sedan in the market in North America now.
-
I buy my cars based on a matrix of priorities.
#1 is safety
#2 is reliability
#3 is economy
#4 is performance
#5 is practicality
The Ford Taurus will likely be my next family hauler, maybe the Flex. Ain't getting nowhere near the lesser vehicles from other manufacturers. My last purchase was the VW Rabbit for my wife & childrens' about-the-town needs. Focus safety and Corolla safety were both lacking. We went with what was safest. In 4-5 years the Rabbit will be up for sale. Unfortunately, Ford has decided to shoot both left feet by whittling down the Focus program...... I only hope that move was a preparation for bringing in the Euro-spec/ global Focus in a few years time! I'd love to buy American, when and only when Ford/GM loves me!
Safety is my main priority. Mileage isn't everything! Otherwise we'd be knee deep in Yarii & Civics, which we aren't.
Well,............. except maybe in Berkeley.
I really doubt any person buys a car based on its miles-per-gallon. I look for reliability and durability first, then safety and practicality. The performance and power. Then gas. Thats basically how my whole family buys cars. As long as it gets more then 20MPG Highway. After that it doesn't matter.
Same with my friends and relatives, they don't get cars based on MPG. Most of my aunts and uncles and cousins all have American SUV's.
-
I could have sworn the '08 Escape Hybrid gets over 36MPG, making it the most fuel efficient SUV. : / And I also learned that the next generation Toyota Highlander Hybrid gets 2MPG less in the city estimate then the current models.

I saw it already, just today. Its idiotic, biased, and makes no sense to me whatsoever.

By the way how old are you Explorer4x4? 15? do you even have a drivers license? If you dont you should be off playing sports or meeting girls or something other 15 year olds do. I don't put much stock in a guys automotive opinions if hes never even driven LEGALLY before. Come back when you have a license.
Yeah, but you are that idiot aren't you?
I have driven legally for two years, I have driven for over that. I never claim to be an expert. But I do know that the Honda Ridgeline is a good car. Reliable (its a fucking Honda) and its as much truck as anyone needs.
-
Tundra = Toyota
Ridgeline = Honda
Take notes.
Tired + All Asian cars are pretty much the same.
Heh...
-
Looks are opinion. I like the Ridgeline's appearance. The Ridgeline is not really a truck in my eyes. Its more of a very light duty SUV with a bed. And its enough for most truck owners. Plus Honda reliability.
-
I never trust some guy's "renderings", and I hope they are wrong, I see no need to use Super Chief styling cues on Ford's cars, that crap was hideous on a truck!
Exactly what I was going to say.
-
Ridgeline's aren't bad products. Tundra is shit, but the Ridgeline is a good car.
So I can not be bothered to contribute pictures of wrecked Ridgelines.
-
Pretty cool looking, but to me it just looks like a photoshop of the current Falcon.
-
I doubt it will be fleet only ...
Igor
Same. I know the Ford Crown Victoria is fleet-only for 2008. But the Town Car is still up on the Lincoln website, and outside of fleet sales, its probably the best selling Panther vehicle. So I don't think it will be fleet only.
-
Yawn...
-
I am willing to say its bull shit. I will wait for the official ratings. And thats not bad, as stated, others get lower.
-
I think Ford should bring back the Thunderbird as a premium, luxury two-door full-size sedan to compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz coupes. If Lexus and Cadillac can go high-luxury, Ford or Lincoln can. And since both Nissan (Altima Coupe) and Honda (Accord Coupe) have mid-size two-doors, I think Ford could benefit with a Fusion coupe. As for Taurus (aka. 500), I do not know...
-
Aura is idiotic. Its more expensive, only offers a V6, poor handling and ugly. Its better then the Toyota Camry, but more expensive and less economical. It competes more with the Ford Taurus then the Ford Fusion.
Ford Recall of 3.6 Million Vehicles for Cruise Control
in Ford Powertrain Tech
Posted · Edited by Explorer4X4
I just decided, I don't like you. I like that you call it 'famous'. I, personally, don't give a shit about this recall. 3.6 million isn't a lot when you think about just how many Ford Motor Company vehicles are out on the road. Both my 1989 Tempo and 1999 F-150 have cruise control, and guess what, NO PROBLEMS! No, they aren't being recalled. If I were Ford, I wouldn't want to talk to an idiot like you either. Hey, its a '94 Lincoln, get another car and shut the **** up. Nobody cares that your decade old Lincoln has a problem, you could get another one cheap enough. Its people like you, that call their lawyer if they break a nail at a diner because the floor caused you horrible pain.
Go, get a life, stop complaining. We don't care, Ford doesn't care, go get another car or be quiet and have it repaired. It is not like it costs $14,000 to repair cruise control. Or better yet, don't use it.
