  1. NO DOUBT! :happy feet: Nice to hear though..thank you. Alaannnnnnnnnnn...Markieeee..............Did you hear that? Of coarse not
  2. I wake this am, get my coffee and turn on the news. Metered wake up. I'll shower, dress and drive to work. As always. The difference is these are the last four days I will have the priviledge of working with some of the finest UAW brothers and sisters, some of the finest people, I have ever worked with. It is so very sad it ends this way. I am losing " family" as so many others have or will. Gods Speed to you all as you move on. Best of luck in all you do. It is a shame it has come to this. I mourn what I see as the eventual demise of an era. The demise of the middle class. Way Forward? Full reverse. Thank you 879 members, for the laughter, the tears, the friendship.
  3. Oh..by the way..You guys rock! The entire membership should be thankful we have the crew we do in office! :happy feet:
  4. GRRRRR. Not angry at the UAW for not offering nurses packages; they didn't offer packages, the Company did. ANGRY that when it was negotiated, the UAW did not look after all members equally...Fitness Center employees, engineers, Johnson Controls and yes, nurses.
  5. So right, I have opportumities, but remain at this time UAW. Why, if I put my ten hours a day in, pay my monthly dues, am I worth LESS because I advanced my education BEFORE joining the UAW? Wait, am I hearing you correctly???If a line person screws up they can work anywhere???Where?? That is the question??On the world news tonight (channel 4) 1200 people are being added at Henry Ford Health Care System and nurses are needed more than any other occupation out there. I'm sorry I got my Masters in Human Resources and not Nursing or better yet Physicians Assitant (lowest salary I have seen $75,000 per year). Hopefully HFHS need Admnistration to hire all those nurses. Second, there is a shortage of people to teach classes in nursing. Have you ever tried to get into an Anatomy class (Forever Filled)!). The world news tonight in fact took the Detroit area as an example of all the manufacturing jobs lost and at the same time said how much the health care industry needs people right now. They also reported they will take just about anyone with a college degree and skilled nurses. Another fact a tradesman would get half the salary on the outside as he would at Ford except for some speciality contract jobs. A nurse on the outside still will get $25/hr if not more. If a nurse chose contract nursing and opts out of health care (up to $40/hr). And yes, the union is there also:) But unlike Ford Mo. Co., you would be considered an hourly not salary. By the way a CENA makes over $100,000 a year. That is like a nurse with a Masters Degree. And so your point is what? Please, read response above. I can get another job, with retraining as I have been in an Occupational setting for ten years. HOWEVER, Whether a nurse, an electrician or a trim shop employee, I AM UAW!
  6. Just a quick note of thanks from Local 879 Nurses' Unit to Local 879 UAW President Roger Terveen, UAW Chair Jim Eagle, Bargainers Tom Reis, Jim Blackbird and John Killeen, the entire Committee and the Membership as a whole for your support as we continue to fight exclusion from UAW Separation Opportunities. You guys Rock!
  7. Understood. However, the premise of the Union is Equal application of all for all. Electricians and Plumbers are highly skilled as well, but were afforded the same opportunity as the line worker. :reading:
  8. One would think even with an IQ of 48, Picker, you woulda figured out how to cover yourself after the first failed Doctor's note. Idiot
  9. Wow. I cannot believe what I am reading on this thread.ANY UAW member currently working at FoMoCo certainly deserves the same opportunity to adjust their career plans at this sad time. How dare you call yourself a Union brother, Picker, if you feel the membership AS A WHOLE should not be treated equally by both the company and their Union. It is this sort of devisiveness you spew that has helped downgrade the UAW from a strong cohesive power to where it is headed for now. The current state of the Company, and the state of the UAW, has impacted all of our lives. The UAW International has bargained in good faith to afford MOST of it's membership a chance at a new start to rebuild their futures as they thought they would be. I am pretty sure everyone of us when we hired on at this company felt we had found the job we would eventually retire from. Picker, even now, when you have made your decision on whether to stay or go, you harbor ill feelings and wish the worst for a UAW brother or sister that has not been afforded the same opportunity for choice? That, sir, is sad. May you find yourself at the blunt end of a hypo when you least expect it. I wish you no worse than that. Bogya, you go girl! Hopefully Chuck Browning will pull thru for all of us.
  10. Over 1200 have signed up..Expect Labor to be swamped toiday. Incredibly sad to see this all taking place, but thankful you don't leave empty-handed. I've met some wonderful folks at TCAP, and will miss you. Best of luck to all
