  1. Has anybody used a Yakima Skybox 16 on the factory roof rack of a 2006 Ford Escape? Did it mount up solid using the factory bars? Was the overhang ok with the rear hatch? Did it completely cover the sun roof?
  2. Has anyone removed the overhead console that has the sun roof switch, map lights and sun glasses holder? I would like to know what to do next after you remove the screws.
  3. Well I'm looking for ideas or maybe if somebody has a used new condition carpet mat for the rear trunk of a 2004 V6 Mustang interior color charcoal. I had an accident with a jug of 5w-20. Note that the new Penzoil bottles will leak if placed on their side. My trunk mat is soaked in motor oil. I need a replacement mat or ideas on where to get an aftermarket one. Anybody have a ford OEM part number?
  4. Well I haven't got a call back yet maybe it will be weeks too till they get me in. It's only a leaky hatchback that is soaking my interior. I would think they would maybe try to rush that apointment since we have got 2 inches of rain in the last week.
  5. Well this morning I had my dealership service appointment. They discovered that the seal that goes around the hatch window is defective and letting water gain access to the inside of the rear hatch. This in turn caused the original lock and handle mechanism to seize and has caused the new one to work harder. Well they lubed the new mechanism up again and it works great. But they had to order a window seal and a trim piece that goes over the window strut. They said it might be a week till they can get one or the other in. The dealership had the lock and handle part the next day. What would cause such a delay I asked? They said some parts come from other locations and can take up to a week to get here. Wish they could put a rush on it since there is water leaking into my rear hatch area. Even though I pulled up the carpet and it’s not really hurting anything now still would be nice not to see water lying inside my car. Not understanding this whole ford part process I walked over to the parts department at the same dealership and ordered an air filter for my mustang. They didn't have it stock, but would have it by this afternoon. Wow an air filter in less then 8 hours, but a week for another part. What gives? So I left the dealership confused about the whole part process and the trust from the service manager that he would call me as soon as the parts arrives and then schedule an appointment for more service. I even told him I could have it there first thing tomorrow, but he said oh maybe next week. He said there was no way of telling when the part could get there. Sounds to me there could be some more planning of service on there part. The first time I came it was the part will be here tomorrow and I had the pick of any time to bring it back. Now it's I will call you when the parts come and then we will see if we can fit you in next week. Am I getting the dealership shaft or what?
  6. Anybody have any similar issues? All started months ago. One day I could not open my rear hatch. The window would open and you could hear the door lock work, but the hatch would not budge. Squeeze the handle and nothing. After much pulling and squeezing finally it opens. After that the handle always seems to take more effort to open then before. Ok so months later last week same thing happens though this time tried and tried to squeeze and pull and nothing. So off to the dealership. They say it’s the "handle with lock cylinder". So they order it and later in the week the part comes in and they replace it. Well this weekend same thing happens with trying to open the hatch. Though after I fought with it again the hatch came open and it's again hard to work the handle. There are also two new problems now. It rained all weekend and I noticed today the carpet is soaked and the one trim piece that was over the strut to the window has fallen off again. It was dangling there after it went to the dealership the first time and I pushed it back on, but since then it has fallen off again. So now I have 3 problems. I guess it's off to the dealership again another 60 mile round trip. Oh wait make that 120 miles since they will have to order more parts again and again schedule it back another day to install them.
  7. FIXED! :happy feet: The dealership some how mixed my dash. Not sure how they did. I think they must have used a filler and some spray paint because there is some tiny paint specs on my floor mats.

  9. I had paint problems too on my 2004 Ford Mustang competition orange color. I brought mine into the dealership because the front bumper seemed to get stone chips every time I drove around the block. And when it chipped it I was left with a white stone chip. All my other fords when they had a stone chip they looked like the clear coat was chipped and it never chipped off and left what looks like white primer. Anyway the dealership said my warranty doesn't cover stone chips and I said maybe there is no clear coat and why is there a white color underneath. They looked further and said yes it has been clear coated and the bumper has white primer under the orange. And again there was nothing they will do. 'Just don't tailgate and that should solve the problem." This has been the only car I ever owned that the paint chipped so quickly and looks so horrible. So I guess every week I will get out my touch up paint and go to town. I still think there is something not right though. Maybe somebody else has one the same year with this problem?
  10. The dealership is fixing my dash on April 30th they have rented me a car for the day and they are calling in a company that repairs dashes. I will post pics after they fix it!
  11. Sorry I was busy cross posting. Yes I talked to service director and they are really not sure what to do but they will get back to me. But what could be done not like they can replace the dash.
  12. Yes and they are still deciding what to do. What can be done though not like they can replace the dash.
  13. Here is what my local Ford dealership did to my dash fixing my heat controls.
