  1. Yes, he was an hourly employee.

I'm aware everyone is required to apply for Medicare when they are 65. I'm not as I stated above I'm 43.

Our issue is Medicare payment is based on income of household. Since I'm considered a dependent my parents' income  counts against me. The little bit I could get from SSD would not be enough to cover the cost of paying the monthly premium.

  2. I'm one of those who is  physically disabled and have been on my dad's insurance (he's retired) after I turned 26. I am 43 now. They are wanting me and I assume others to try and get disability, but then I would have to pay for Medicare. I'd go in the hole having to pay based on my parent's income.  My argument as the benefit highlights for 2024 say no contribution payment for health insurance. Why would I want to start paying for Medicare when it's not going to cost a thing in 2024 for retirees??

  3. I've heard two things, one, Ford employees must transfer to a Ford plant. The other is $38 miilion dollars from Ford to be given to the Sandusky plant for maintenance. So who knows. Just don't count on staying in Ohio if you are a Ford employee at the plant. Walton Hills is closing and an article that I read said that noone will be able to stay in Ohio from that plant. They will have to go out of state for a job at another plant.

  4. Its two early to attack the tentative agreement or to proclaim it an earth shattering one either. But i am pleased to see a couple of things.

    1. They saved a plant. Thats alot of union brothers/sisters who won't be gone.

    2. The two tier people got raises. In my book that is the most important thing these contracts needed to address.

And better health benefits, which we all know is hard to come by.
