  1. I think I hear CGI land rover diesel's calling out right now... "stroke me and put me in the superduty! I'm lighter, more powerful and more efficient! add another bank of cylinders and make a v10 diesel! DO SOMETHING TO MAKE ME WORK IN THE SUPERDUTIES!?" yep, sounds about right to me..

If only it were feasible to make a change the significant in such a short amout of time.

  2. midsize platform called f100 bigger than ranger, smaller than f150 - based on current explorer platform

when the explorer goes unibody take the platform and make a two door SUV called Bronco, add 4 door version called Bronco EL.

ranger goes unibody with explorer - who needs a real frame on a ranger?

and throw a little ranchero on the side if they ever bring the falcon and ute over.

    thoughts?

  3. The 2000 really isn't too bad looking. Looks almost like it could compete if updated some.

My mom owned both a '96 Taurus and an '00 Sable.. they were both huge piles of crap that were always at the dealer, but when they ran right they were nice cars. I still preferred the taurus styling over the sable styling though. But, those two cars along with a '70-somethin mustang that was even worse are the reason she'll never own a Ford again, no matter how much I try to convince her otherwise.

  4. Oh, ok. The hydrogen does lack in the power department, but I don't know what you could compare it to to see if the power was on par with other hydrogen powered engines.

  5. I agree and the 500/taurus is a HUGE improvement over the '06 taurus they were just selling.

Ford has been pretty good with bringing names back and providing the product to back the name. (we'll just pretend the marauder didn't happen.. :ninja: )

edit: that response was to hugh - you guys post fast around here

and Nick, thats pretty much what I was trying to say.

  6. Think of it as the replacement for the '06 Taurus. Its a HUGE improvement over that car (even if its only a slight improvement on the 500), I think thats what they're hoping people will see.

btw, how do I make it so threads I reply to show up in my subscriptions ??

  7. The move might make us scratch our heads a little. But to the general population (not enthusiasts) its just the next gen Taurus. They'll likely have little to no clue that it shares anything with the 500 or even what the 500 was. And like others have said, it leaves the door open for a big rwd sedan with the 500 name embedded somehow (galaxy 500, maybe?). Or would it be better to keep the crown vic name? hmmm

  8. I think its doing well. It could use a low volume performance variat (svt?!) with either the 3.5 or the 2.3 turbo in the mazdas with a manual option and awd, performance tuned suspension, slightly sportier appearance.. just to draw some more people to the car. I don't know why everyone is saying its not a good car. How is it any lesser of a car than camry or accord?

  9. I don't see a hybrid coming, although it would seem likely that the 4.4 turbodiesel slated for the '09 F-150 will find its way onto the option sheet of the E-150 as well.

The specs on the hydrogen E-350 make me laugh too. That 6.8 V10 is such a dog, no matter what they do to it.

    ???

or the best engine in its class? (unless you mean mpg wise, but its still relatively efficient considering the weight/size of the vehicles its found in)

There were rumors if hydraulic hybrid f150s, I'd think it would come out on the f150/expy before it made its way to the E150, if at all.

  10. I think he'd be better off acting as a customer on both buying the vehicle and then trying to have service work done without the dealership knowing its him. Just him going up on his own without any cameras or anything and going through all the crap that we have to go through to try to get any type of warranty work done. (and then the 8 times you have to take it back because they don't do it right) The problem with him visiting with media attention is the dealers will want to look their best and make it seem like the best thing ever because they'll know who he is. He needs to go incognito and then report his findings, I think it would be pretty cool if he did that.
