  1. I'm with you...I think AWS (except for 2 tier) is the worst concession the UAW has ever made. Just saying that some trades like it because they are still making good money. Once AWS serves it's purpose and cuts the ot ...and reality sets in .....AWS won't be quite as popular .

  2. I'm with you...I think AWS (except for 2 tier) is the worst concession the UAW has ever made. Just saying that some trades like it because they are still making good money. Once AWS serves it's purpose and cuts the ot ...and reality sets in .....AWS won't be quite as popular .

  3. Not all Aws are 7 /12s and then a week off. Another one is 3 12s one week and 4 12s the next.......this is skilled trade schedule. No matter......still work every other weekend. Trades that like it that I know are still being offerred thier days off (overtime)......the point of aws is to lessen ot. I think once management dials I'm there will be a lot less or. Gotta a feeling there will be a lot fewer trades liking aws at that point

    :(

  4. Skilled trades have 3 shifts ( A , B & C) which are days, afternoons & midnights. If Ford adds a 3rd production shift ( don't see that for a while) trades will be on an AWS......(alternate work schedule).....which is 4 shifts.

  5. I am a Ford employee in Canada where there is government health care paid for by tax dollars. I wouldn't use it on a bet. The waiting area is dirty, crowded and sparcely furnished. The receptionist is surly and suspicious of your ailment; downplaying your symptoms. The wait is eight hours. After a useless inspection by the doctor, you are dismissed, carrying home the germs that you picked up from other waiting patients.

Nice........Obamacare will be single payer if carried to fruition. After a second Obama term there will be no more talk of repeal . Dems and Repubs will simply fight for votes by saying they can control the beast known as obamacare better than the other guy (or gal). ACA needs to be ripped out root and branch.

  6. Yes 4 on 4 off is a great schedule. Fatso dont like it much but out of all of the AWS schedules I think 4 on 4 off is best. You have your choice of just working the 4 on 4 off and get an additional 50 days off per year plus save all vacation for pay in lieu (4 days off every week is like a vaction every week) or working all of the O/T and making over $140,000. Your choice

As was posted earlier, we started AWS at MAP on 6/11/12. The electricians will probably have the opportunities for 140k.....but i doubt very seriously the mechanical trades will be offerred that kind of OT in final and paint. Maybe at ISA(stamping and body). So far I hate this piece of Shit schedule. Straight time on sat. and sun. for the first 10 hrs? You gotta be shittin' me! What a complete and utter capitulation on the unions part. Personally, I like the 5/8s and optional weekends if they are offerred..../.but I suppose those days are over. Now they have coverage for 3 crew production on the cheap....we will never get the 5/8s back. Thanks alot UAW.......nice work. NOT!!!!!
  7. I work trades at DTP and I am on the 4 on/4 off schedule, mandatory 12`s. Here is my schedule for the Easter Week, note that what is 'practically' mid-nights at DTP is called afternoons, because of a 6:30 pm not 7 pm start and only pays 5% shift premium.Wednesday-6:30 pm till 6:30 am on Thursday, then hurry back at 6:30 pm Thursday until 6:30 am on Good Friday.Good Friday is also-mandatory-from 6:30 pm till 6:30 am on Saturday.Come back on Saturday at 6:30 pm,for time and a quarter for the first 10 hours, and work until 6:30 am on Easter Sunday morning.By the way Happy Easter.Friday is mandatory and although I am paid 250% an hour I am unable to convert the hours to future time off so,per contract, where is my Company Paid Holiday? It was sold to me as time off?I will work until 6:30 am Easter Sunday morning for time and a quarter then time and a half the last hour and a half but still,my point is I am working Easter Sunday and I am exhausted and whats the majic word?Mandatory! So then I get Sunday night-Monday night-Tuesday night-Wednesday night off? This most important of all Christian Holiday`s was ruined for anyone trying to have a spiritual or family experience.Think Ford appreciates the sacrifice?Ford is investing 1.3 billion US dollars into a plant in India.Ford is investing an additional 1 billion US dollars into Hermosillio, Mexico.Next contract,,,,can you say 'Whipsaw'?Governor Snyder of Michigan-R would sign {although he says he doesnt want it because its too divisive,LOL}into legislation immediately any Right to Work law.Contrast this US working-man`s situation with what is going on in Europe right now.Ford will not blitzkrieg the European autoworkers union because European workers actually like each other and value things like health care and 4 weeks of vacation etc.Stock analysts say Europe will continue to be an earnings loss to Ford for the foreseeable future.I attend the union meetings and I am told that "We ask for all these things and the company says no and the Internantional says,we will all get fired if we go on strike".In other words, keep doing what the company says and be glad you got a job.I agree that many powerful forces in business and government are aligned against the union workers.Being as it may, next contract if this doesnt get,at least a little bit, better,I am ready to strike come hell or high water. Many co-workers are so numb/intimidated and resigned to the situation that they admonish and chastise-for management-anyone who dares to peep. The rest of you have a Happy Easter!Solid chocolate bunnies are better than hollow!

MAP goes to an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) for skilled trades on April 23rd. Our AWS schedule hasnt been "officially" approved of yet, but it has been surveyed on and posted. Its not the rotating start day "4 on 4 off " and we will have a 7-7 schedule. It is a complete cluster F**K!!!!!

  8. 4 days on and 4 days of is like an additional 2 months vacation per year. Sounds good to me

At MAP the presumptive schedule (starting sometime in late April/early May) will have us working on average 42 hours/week.......we will work 12 hours a day but only 7 out of 14 days: NOT A BIG MONEY MAKER SCHEDULE!!!! The whole purpose of this piece of SH*T is to cut overtime. We will make a bit more than 5/8's but the screwed up 12 hour shifts, 7-7 start times(afternoons and midnites are eliminated and combined into a 7pm to 7am shift), and the requirement to work every other weekend kinda take away from that xtra money. By the way, I dont expect them to cover vacations at MAP, therefore I dont expect to be asked to come in on my days off to make above and beyond 42hrs/week.

  9. KTP has trades on a weekend crew, recently they pulled all the electricians and put them on a five day schedule so they have enough electricians to run M-F....

I hope I like it too...we'll see. I know I don't like the idea that a tradesmen "has to" work 12 hours because he has all those other days off. Or the fact that on the traditional schedule, weekends are optional (when they are offerred) and you see it in your pay check. The AWS has us working weekends, not by choice, but because we have to. I believe the union gave away the store: Not just for overtime issues and coverage....but to find a place for all the tradesman without a home. Again, why don't they have a home? Because FoMoCo shut down a bunch of plants when they had their head in their ass back a few years ago when toyota, honda and all the transplant companies were doin' better than ever! NOT THE UNIONS FAULT!........oh well, now I feel better! Ya know what...all that time off might not be so bad after all.

  10. I have been informed that all Ford final assembly locations will begin some sort of alternative work schedule for skilled trades. At MAP, the story is that we are going to do this regardless of whether or not production goes to 3 crew operations. The schedule being considered is 4 crews, and it's such a mess, there is no sense in trying to explain it here. Anyone out there on an AWS? Dearborn?......Chicago?.....How do you like it?

  11. I know few people overthere on the line. The numbers needed for 3 crew are nowhere what they should be. They are adding half or sometime less than they need to run for 3rd crew.

Seems union has no teeth overthere, tradeschair refers all questions to committeeman?

Can anyone confer this who works there.

In the words of Oliver North ................."I have no recollection!"

  12. LAP is on 7/12`s for about 18 months.Trades overtime will always creep up, if for nothing else then for vacation coverage and shutdown projects.Certain trades get more OT than others. What I dont like about the MOA shifts is the mandatory 12`s/weekends and holidays along with the start times that cheat you out of shift premium.

Continous 7/12s or 7 on/ 7 off? 7/12s on and then 7 days off is one of the much heralded Alternate Work Schedules by the way!

  13. I talked to a maintenance supervisor today. They said there will be postings, not sure when or if Ford wide. The first trial bodies for the Fusion are now set be be run in Feb. 2013 with production starting in late spring 2013. A second shift will be added shortly thereafter, and there are plans for a third shift, with no date set yet. Ford wants a 4 shift operation for skilled trades, NO overtime, all straight time. This is from management, and the skilled members who have heard this are not happy. Salaried workers lost their overtime about 6 years ago, even maint. bosses who always are working weekends are doing it all on straight time, and Ford wants the same for skilled trades. If they create enough shifts, (4), there are no options for overtime. They said this is done at other plants to save money and we will do the same. It will take time before it's implemented and I'm sure there will be a fight over it. Retooling for the Fusion begins the minute the last Mazda leaves Body Shop in August. Stamping, Body, Paint & Trim will all need some retooling between then and January 2013. Hopefully all skilled trades can return and do the job they trained for.

I heard the same thing at MAP for skilled trades (regardless if production goes to 3 crew operations or not) . Wouldn't be suprised if some locations ( Wayne ISA or Saline for example) are allowed to keep the traditional days, afternoons, and midnites because they always seem to work a special suck- ass deal. Oh well, trades that want to make "extra" money will be getting a 2nd job or starting a business. Just glad to have a first job at this point, hoping I don"t get " bumped" into production like many of the temporary ( they helped us for 2 1/2 yrs retool the old MTP location) trades at MAP!

  14. Executive meeting at glass house, you're probably not invited.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Putting a 3 crew on and then taking it away would screw alot of lower seniority currently at MAP (especially skilled trades). But not adding

a 3rd shift doesn't necessarily mean 2 shifts will work OT: not with a 100 day supply of small cars that just debuted a year ago! I think the dicounts on the dated fusion and escape are hurting the focus sales currently. The 3 crew could also just be delayed until the economy and sales pickup substantially (2013 I hope!)

  15. cry, cry, cry! If you rely on overtime, then you're an idiot! Also, I think Ford forgot more about the car building business then you'll ever know! lmao

You took what i said out of context. The overtime issue is one of the reasons final assembly locations like MAP are going to 3 crew operations. The 2nd reason is that the Union is trying to find a home for seniority. I believe the union made a deal with FoMoCo and accepted all the goofy, F**CKED UP AWS's to create openings. As I said before, 3 crew should be added to increase production.....the other reasons I stated should be an afterthought. Oh and yes , ofcourse i like overtime, but I don't rely on it!

  16. Don`t worry about a place to go, CAP is going to a "C crew"... any takers? how about some high seniority members? its only cold for 7 months a year.... and the best benefit to working in Chicago the !!!!!CUBS!!!!!

Time frame for starting the 3 crew well, maybe... in April or maybe??? Who knows? Sure, we are setting up for it. Got people bidding on jobs and handing out classifications like free popcorn at a kiddie circus... might not be many left for transferee`s, sorry.

Just wondering, how long does it take from getting the classification till the "I want to bump that SOB on days" syndrome take? MTP`ers?

Anyone know, how it works if the company goes to an Appendix H when on an Alternate Work Schedule like the 3 crew agreement?

How are other Plants dealing with all the experience and leadership flowing from all the new managers? We seem to be at a loss for experience....

I still can`t figure out where those 12000 jobs went, from the signing of the contract... to now? Was the 12000 job thing, a south-side shell game? (sarcasm)

Sorry about all the questions but now a days here at CAP, when you ask a question you get a lot of "UMMM I Think" or "The International set this S**T up!!!! Go Ask Them!!!

Oh Well, another great attempt at bringing the work force together.... everyone join hands Koombyaaah my friend, Koombyaaah......

For production, the schedule is as follows with 3 crew operations:

    A crew: Mon-Thurs ------Days

    B crew: Tues-Fri-----------Afternoons

    C crew: Fri &Sat Days.........Sunday & Monday............Afternoons

For Trades at MTP we added D crew: Fri, Sat, Sun 3/12's....and E crew: Sat, Sun, Mon. 3/12's during the 3 crew years.....1995-2001. along with the traditional days/afternoons/midnite shifts. Eliminating overtime was not the issue at that time...but coverage was! Remember, production runs 7 days a week and is only down Sat nite/Sunday . All trades except for possibly hi-lo mechanic were offered 7 days a week anyway, regardless of what shift they worked. FoMoCo was making $10,000 per vehicle with the high profit Expedition/Navigator lineup. Today, the 2011 contract allows the company to twist trades into all kinds of goofy, f**ked up contortions to eliminate

overtime while still covering production. Get ready tradesmen at all locations going 3 crew....YOU ARE IN FOR A CULTURE SHOCK!!!

  17. The union has the power to force Ford Motor Company to add a shift and hire Entry Level at MAP even though they dont need the cars?

Now that $hit is funny, the UAW tells Ford to add a shift here and add a shift there when volume is not justified. hahahahahahahahahahahahahah.

Looks like you missed reason #1: THE COMPANY WANTS TO ELIMNATE ALL OVERTIME!

No more 5/10's and an eight on saturday, and certainly no more 7 days for the trades. Sounds like a pretty good money saver and incentive fo FoMoCo to me.

(Remember, trades will go to either a 4 crew or 5 crew mode when production goes to 3 crew operations)

  18. Is there any local language addressing the C crew work practices at MAP or was there any at MTP? Here at CAP if a questions is put to the Chair, he keeps referring to traditional language that we have at present. Not the 3 crew work practices. Also states, the 3 crew will be run under the present language?

If the C crew is run like the last 2 years here at CAP then the company gets a free pass to do as they see fit.

How did things work out at MTP when the plug was pulled on their C crew?

It worked out great in 2001 because there were plenty of places to go. Now it is a game of musical chairs.........when 3 crew ends at MAP (and it always ends) there will be no place left to go. As i said, there are 2 reasons for the 3 crew operations at MAP and they have NOTHING to do with with the need to increase production: 1.The company wants to eliminate all overtime.

    2. The Union needs to find a home for excess workers.

Everything will be fine until the music stops and the party is over!

  19. Who should fill the 3rd crew?

No one. The Focus isn't selling for shit and the C-Max we're about to start building is electric and hybrid only. Yeah....Ford will sell DOZENS of them. We don't need 3 crew.

There are only 2 reasons for 3 crew: eliminate all overtime and to create space for laid off ford workers and workers in plants that may close (saline for one). I think it will last just long enough to place everyone and then they"ll pull the plug and low seniority original local 900 members will be screwed. Just my opinion. It might last for 6 yrs like it did at michigan truck....but i seriously doubt it.

  20. Why work for the union if you don't like the rules? ANYONE with a day more time then you has more right to a Ford job then you. Get over it!

Anyone with a day more than me AT MY LOCATION has seniority on me. There is a very good chance that the majority of the workers coming in to MAP will be high seniority. When the 3 crew ends alot of employees who spent their career at local 900 will get bumped out. This is national seniority, pure and simple and it wasn't what the rules were when i started. If the 3 crew would last forever , i wouldn't care. But it could last only 6 months....a year..two years....who knows. There is a way to place all the employees who don"t have a home: BACKFILL ALL THE SLOTS LEFT FROM ATTRITION! The union is grabbing at straws and no one is safe.

  21. rainbownthedrk don't hold back say what you want FOMOCO. will do what it has to do to make money. I have been 6 bldg, there all alike the union has on control.....

Make money? How ? By shifting high seniority workers from one plant to another? FoMoCo doesn't give a shit! Seniority is union negotiated and , as it looks now, when the shit hits the fan at MAP or any other location, its the union (seniority) that will lay people off, not the company. This wasnt as big an issue 10 yrs ago before the union lost the gen bank (thank you former MTP gunnies who granted an interview to the Detroit News!) and Ford closed a bunch of plants. But now, as I said , the well has gone dry and the remaining plants are being forced to absorb high seniority. 3 crew was a boon in 95' but could very well end up being a curse in 2012.
