  1. I'm with you...I think AWS (except for 2 tier) is the worst concession the UAW has ever made. Just saying that some trades like it because they are still making good money. Once AWS serves it's purpose and cuts the ot ...and reality sets in .....AWS won't be quite as popular .

  3. Not all Aws are 7 /12s and then a week off. Another one is 3 12s one week and 4 12s the next.......this is skilled trade schedule. No matter......still work every other weekend. Trades that like it that I know are still being offerred thier days off (overtime)......the point of aws is to lessen ot. I think once management dials I'm there will be a lot less or. Gotta a feeling there will be a lot fewer trades liking aws at that point
  4. Skilled trades have 3 shifts ( A , B & C) which are days, afternoons & midnights. If Ford adds a 3rd production shift ( don't see that for a while) trades will be on an AWS......(alternate work schedule).....which is 4 shifts.
  5. Nice........Obamacare will be single payer if carried to fruition. After a second Obama term there will be no more talk of repeal . Dems and Repubs will simply fight for votes by saying they can control the beast known as obamacare better than the other guy (or gal). ACA needs to be ripped out root and branch.
  6. How does overtime equalization work with AWS? How big of an hour spread is allowed and does overtime equalize between the day and night shifts? Thanks for any answers
  7. As was posted earlier, we started AWS at MAP on 6/11/12. The electricians will probably have the opportunities for 140k.....but i doubt very seriously the mechanical trades will be offerred that kind of OT in final and paint. Maybe at ISA(stamping and body). So far I hate this piece of Shit schedule. Straight time on sat. and sun. for the first 10 hrs? You gotta be shittin' me! What a complete and utter capitulation on the unions part. Personally, I like the 5/8s and optional weekends if they are offerred..../.but I suppose those days are over. Now they have coverage for 3 crew production on the cheap....we will never get the 5/8s back. Thanks alot UAW.......nice work. NOT!!!!!
  8. MAP goes to an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) for skilled trades on April 23rd. Our AWS schedule hasnt been "officially" approved of yet, but it has been surveyed on and posted. Its not the rotating start day "4 on 4 off " and we will have a 7-7 schedule. It is a complete cluster F**K!!!!!
  9. At MAP the presumptive schedule (starting sometime in late April/early May) will have us working on average 42 hours/week.......we will work 12 hours a day but only 7 out of 14 days: NOT A BIG MONEY MAKER SCHEDULE!!!! The whole purpose of this piece of SH*T is to cut overtime. We will make a bit more than 5/8's but the screwed up 12 hour shifts, 7-7 start times(afternoons and midnites are eliminated and combined into a 7pm to 7am shift), and the requirement to work every other weekend kinda take away from that xtra money. By the way, I dont expect them to cover vacations at MAP, therefore I dont expect to be asked to come in on my days off to make above and beyond 42hrs/week.
  10. I hope I like it too...we'll see. I know I don't like the idea that a tradesmen "has to" work 12 hours because he has all those other days off. Or the fact that on the traditional schedule, weekends are optional (when they are offerred) and you see it in your pay check. The AWS has us working weekends, not by choice, but because we have to. I believe the union gave away the store: Not just for overtime issues and coverage....but to find a place for all the tradesman without a home. Again, why don't they have a home? Because FoMoCo shut down a bunch of plants when they had their head in their ass back a few years ago when toyota, honda and all the transplant companies were doin' better than ever! NOT THE UNIONS FAULT!........oh well, now I feel better! Ya know what...all that time off might not be so bad after all.
  11. I have been informed that all Ford final assembly locations will begin some sort of alternative work schedule for skilled trades. At MAP, the story is that we are going to do this regardless of whether or not production goes to 3 crew operations. The schedule being considered is 4 crews, and it's such a mess, there is no sense in trying to explain it here. Anyone out there on an AWS? Dearborn?......Chicago?.....How do you like it?
  12. In the words of Oliver North ................."I have no recollection!"
  13. Continous 7/12s or 7 on/ 7 off? 7/12s on and then 7 days off is one of the much heralded Alternate Work Schedules by the way!
  14. I heard the same thing at MAP for skilled trades (regardless if production goes to 3 crew operations or not) . Wouldn't be suprised if some locations ( Wayne ISA or Saline for example) are allowed to keep the traditional days, afternoons, and midnites because they always seem to work a special suck- ass deal. Oh well, trades that want to make "extra" money will be getting a 2nd job or starting a business. Just glad to have a first job at this point, hoping I don"t get " bumped" into production like many of the temporary ( they helped us for 2 1/2 yrs retool the old MTP location) trades at MAP!
  15. Could be a blessing in disguise. Putting a 3 crew on and then taking it away would screw alot of lower seniority currently at MAP (especially skilled trades). But not adding a 3rd shift doesn't necessarily mean 2 shifts will work OT: not with a 100 day supply of small cars that just debuted a year ago! I think the dicounts on the dated fusion and escape are hurting the focus sales currently. The 3 crew could also just be delayed until the economy and sales pickup substantially (2013 I hope!)
  16. I don"t believe the schedule for maintenance or the RTO numbers for maintenance at MAP have been determined yet.
  17. You took what i said out of context. The overtime issue is one of the reasons final assembly locations like MAP are going to 3 crew operations. The 2nd reason is that the Union is trying to find a home for seniority. I believe the union made a deal with FoMoCo and accepted all the goofy, F**CKED UP AWS's to create openings. As I said before, 3 crew should be added to increase production.....the other reasons I stated should be an afterthought. Oh and yes , ofcourse i like overtime, but I don't rely on it!
  18. For production, the schedule is as follows with 3 crew operations: A crew: Mon-Thurs ------Days B crew: Tues-Fri-----------Afternoons C crew: Fri &Sat Days.........Sunday & Monday............Afternoons For Trades at MTP we added D crew: Fri, Sat, Sun 3/12's....and E crew: Sat, Sun, Mon. 3/12's during the 3 crew years.....1995-2001. along with the traditional days/afternoons/midnite shifts. Eliminating overtime was not the issue at that time...but coverage was! Remember, production runs 7 days a week and is only down Sat nite/Sunday . All trades except for possibly hi-lo mechanic were offered 7 days a week anyway, regardless of what shift they worked. FoMoCo was making $10,000 per vehicle with the high profit Expedition/Navigator lineup. Today, the 2011 contract allows the company to twist trades into all kinds of goofy, f**ked up contortions to eliminate overtime while still covering production. Get ready tradesmen at all locations going 3 crew....YOU ARE IN FOR A CULTURE SHOCK!!!
  19. Looks like you missed reason #1: THE COMPANY WANTS TO ELIMNATE ALL OVERTIME! No more 5/10's and an eight on saturday, and certainly no more 7 days for the trades. Sounds like a pretty good money saver and incentive fo FoMoCo to me. (Remember, trades will go to either a 4 crew or 5 crew mode when production goes to 3 crew operations)
  20. It worked out great in 2001 because there were plenty of places to go. Now it is a game of musical chairs.........when 3 crew ends at MAP (and it always ends) there will be no place left to go. As i said, there are 2 reasons for the 3 crew operations at MAP and they have NOTHING to do with with the need to increase production: 1.The company wants to eliminate all overtime. 2. The Union needs to find a home for excess workers. Everything will be fine until the music stops and the party is over!
  21. No one. The Focus isn't selling for shit and the C-Max we're about to start building is electric and hybrid only. Yeah....Ford will sell DOZENS of them. We don't need 3 crew. There are only 2 reasons for 3 crew: eliminate all overtime and to create space for laid off ford workers and workers in plants that may close (saline for one). I think it will last just long enough to place everyone and then they"ll pull the plug and low seniority original local 900 members will be screwed. Just my opinion. It might last for 6 yrs like it did at michigan truck....but i seriously doubt it.
  22. Anyone with a day more than me AT MY LOCATION has seniority on me. There is a very good chance that the majority of the workers coming in to MAP will be high seniority. When the 3 crew ends alot of employees who spent their career at local 900 will get bumped out. This is national seniority, pure and simple and it wasn't what the rules were when i started. If the 3 crew would last forever , i wouldn't care. But it could last only 6 months....a year..two years....who knows. There is a way to place all the employees who don"t have a home: BACKFILL ALL THE SLOTS LEFT FROM ATTRITION! The union is grabbing at straws and no one is safe.
  23. Make money? How ? By shifting high seniority workers from one plant to another? FoMoCo doesn't give a shit! Seniority is union negotiated and , as it looks now, when the shit hits the fan at MAP or any other location, its the union (seniority) that will lay people off, not the company. This wasnt as big an issue 10 yrs ago before the union lost the gen bank (thank you former MTP gunnies who granted an interview to the Detroit News!) and Ford closed a bunch of plants. But now, as I said , the well has gone dry and the remaining plants are being forced to absorb high seniority. 3 crew was a boon in 95' but could very well end up being a curse in 2012.
