  1. Didn't Ford delay the release of the Edge because of quality issues?
  2. Then explain the 2000 Focus and it's lengthly recall list.
  3. Not to mention that it is stupid to dump loads of cash into a re-skin when the car is going to be replaced, possibly in 3 years. That cash should have gone into a complete segement buster taht hit the streets on 2011 or so. The cash spent on this re-skin was completely wasted.
  4. It is amazing how fast these Ford "yes-men" forget the 1996-1999 cam issue with the Taurus SHO that Ford denied. Or the 1996-2001 intake manifold issue that Ford denied. Or how about the fact that the modular V8s and V10 puke spark plugs? Wheres the recall for that? Toyota is not perfect, but lets be real. It's a brand new vehicle. Of course there are going to be problems.
  5. That is not saying much. Isn't that the point of a review? Someone's opinion on a given product?
  6. Have you sat in a Mustang? Looks are only half of the equation. It feels like Ford had about $1.28 to spend on materials.
  7. Then why bother. It's like the old saying, if your not going to do it right, don't do it at all. Why spend the time and money re-skinning an 8 year old car, when you are going to have a whole new car 2 years or so later? This is the time when they should be designing a new car that will absolutely blow the segment away when it hits the streets. The money spent on this re-skin should have gone to the 2010-2012 Focus. The '08, '09 should have stayed exactly as the '07s were. And now, it is not getting very positive reviews and that is going to reflect poorly on FMC.
  8. No matter what the reason is that the car was re-skinned, Ford should be "designing" (and I use that term loosely in regards to the Focus) EVERY car, truck, SUV, CUV, POS like it has the potential to save the company. Ford DESPERATELY needs a 1986 Taurus right about now, and turds like the '08 Focus aren't going to cut it. Neither is changing the name of cars for no reason, or putting a razor on the front of every model. Ford needs to do exactly what Canon does with their cameras. No matter what model of Canon you buy, you get the same level of quality. No matter if you are spending $150.00 or $3500.00 you get the same level of quality. Is anyone so diluted to think that the '08 Focus can save Ford Motor Company? Sure it's possible, just like I have a chance of winning the lottery, getting struck by lightning, being bitten by a shark, and ending the war on terror all at the same time.
  9. Meh...I guess you can't link directly from www.netcarshow.com.
  10. "neither of you have any objectivity", says the yes-man. Hey, it's not my fault that Ford re-skinned the car the way they did. I mean come-on...the cars STRONGEST points are Sync and ambient lighting. Yep, we have a winner here...
  11. The rims I have are 17s (same size front and back) and I got them, with tires for $400.00. Along with that came center caps, lug nuts, and a set of CV headlight housings. The tires alone were like $109 each.
  12. Finally...a legit answer. I see where you are coming from, but if GM is able to ship whole cars from Australia and sell them here for under 30K, then...at the very least, Ford should be able to get close to the Euro Focus, while keeping the price down. They already have the basic structure here (Mazda 3), the engine is from a Volvo, the tranny (6-speed manual) is from a Volvo, etc. I would be willing to give up a some of the electronic gadgets to keep it at a specific price point (being able to change the weight of the steering for example). With the money they spent on the '08 re-skin, they could have takem the best parts from the bin and had a much better car. Ford CAN do it...they just chose not to.
  13. See, the yes-crowd can't tell me why the Euro Focus is in Mexico and not here, but they sure know the price of the car *if* it came here. You don't know what it is going to cost, so stop using that argument.
  14. It's not a surprise...it's a fantastic car (they just have to fix the rear).
  15. Hey, VW did it with the GTI. All they had to do was raise the nose 0.6 inches to meet our bumper requirements.
  16. Wow...bit defensive aren't we? Funny how you automatically include yourself in that group as well. I figured that since the yes crowd knows everything else about Ford, they should know why Mexico gets the Euro Focus and we don't.
