  1. I have an '07 that has rust bubbling around the silver trim piece on the lift gate as well as a couple of spots along the bottom edge. I took it to the local body shop and they want $600 to repaint the lift gate. He told me he sees this rust issue on expys all the time. He also said the reason for the rust around the silver trim piece was that it cut into the paint when it was installed. Go figure....
  2. LOL I'm torn between fixing it or just waiting for the next unexpected incident.... Good tip on the salvage yard. I'm going to check around.... Thanks again.
  3. Hi All, I've got 07 EB Expy that I think is accident cursed. I'll have owned it just a year and have had it into the body shop twice and had the windshield replaced already too. All incidents except for the rock that came up off the road and cracked the windshield occurred while it was parked. First my mother in law backs into it while backing out of her driveway. Then my son is driving a golf cart and clips the rear side while coming up the driveway at our cottage. During this winter, I don't know exactly when, something or someone hit the front bumper and put a nice 6 inch crack in it. I figured I'd take a shot at gluing that up once the weather warms up. Well, if all that wasn't enough, last weekend a deer crosses the road in front of me about 50 yards ahead. I slow down to about 35 and move over to the opposite lane while watching it standing down in the ditch. The next thing I know, the darn thing decides to bolt back into the road and catches the rear bumper leaving a nice "L" shaped crack that's about 12 inches in length that appears to flap in the breeze when driving it.... I'm afraid if I file another claim with my insurance company that I'll be looking at a premium increase. So, all that being said, I was thinking about buying the rear bumper myself, having it painted at the body shop I've been using and doing the removal and replacement myself. Is this outside the realm of an advanced do-it yourselfer and if not, where might I look online to get a ballpark on pricing for the bumper? Thanks for bothering to read such a lengthy post..... :stats: MM
  4. I've had my 07 EB Expy since March. Mine also had a headliner rattle that the dealer said was fixed with foam. I now have another rattle in the headliner right next to where the first rattle was. I'm probably one of the few, but I've had quite a few minor interior related issues. I'm at the point where I need to schedule a service appointment to get them all fixed. As of right now my interior list includes: headliner rattle #2, second row of seats is squeaking, rear window in lift gate leaks when it rains and lastly, the drivers side seat has developed a black streak on the edge of the seat where you slide across to get in. It's hard to describe but it looks like a black magic marker line that has gotten worse over time. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Expy..... Time will tell if these little problems continue to crop up. It's a lease vehicle so I'm not to worried about any of it.... Mike
  5. Sorry BFB, I don't know where it is... Anyone else know?
  6. Thanks BFB. You described my problem to a "T". The smell is brief but strong. I'll try the stuff you suggested for sure. Luckily, it's starting to get cooler here in Michigan so I won't have to use the A/C as much. BTW, My brother is a mechanic and he said pretty much the same thing you did. He also said that sometimes the drain hole for the A/C may get plugged and the condensation may pool up creating the odor. But he said that if that were the case, you would most likely have water in the cabin because it would eventually overflow into the passenger cabin. My goal of posting the question here was to see if there was a TSB or something that confirmed my problem and hopefully identified a fix.
  7. Hey RR, I've been leasing and smoking for years and haven't heard a peep when I turn in the vehicle. I actually take real good care of each one I get. I keep them clean inside and out and do all the scheduled maintenance, rotate tires, etc. I also always have a window cracked when I smoke. On my Expy, I've got the electric side rear windows which I also open when I smoke and between that and a cracked side window, I get pretty good airflow through the cabin. Not to say that it still doesn't stink.... I'm trying to quit again....
  8. I have a 07 EB that is 6 months old and has developed a pretty bad smell when the A/C first starts up. I'm a smoker and thought that it might be related but I lease a new Ford every 2 years and this is the first vehicle that has the startup smell. My questions are: Has anyone else noticed theirs doing the same thing? Is this something that might be covered under warranty? I've poked around the web and found products to eliminate it but they're only a temporary fix. Thanks in advance for any replies. Mike
  9. Add me to the list. My 07 EB makes the same noise. I guess I should feel better that it appears to be normal.
  10. Wow. Sorry to hear it's still leaking. Please let me know what comes out of the trip by the rep. Thanks.
  11. Kent, Do you know what the final fix was? I'm thinking I might be able to tell my dealership what was done to yours in an effort to shorten the repair time. Maybe something off your service invoice? Thanks in advance. MM
  12. Hey Kent!! Bummer. I was looking at the way it seals and the only adjustment I can see would be to the hinges on the glass. An adjustment may cause it to pull tighter when closed. BTW, I developed a rattle in the headliner right behind the drivers seat. Figures right? I took it in and turns out that the HVAC duct was vibrating against the headliner. They put a piece of foam between the two and all is well. It was driving me nuts!! I hope the leak fix is that easy. I don't have the time to be running back and forth to the dealership..... Mike
  13. I just noticed my 2 month old 07 EB Expy's rear glass leaks a little when it rains. I popped the glass open and verified that it's coming in between the glass and the rubber gasket. Anyone else have the same problem? and/or Anyone know how to adjust the glass door and improve the seal? If not, I'll have to schedule a trip to the dealer. Thanks in advance. MM
