  1. '04 86,000 miles stock Yesterday very hard to start. Multiple crank sessions and would fire and instantly shut off. Eventually fired and ran, lots of black/grey smoke, but cleared up after a ride around the block. Shut down and restarted fine. This morning same thing, but could not get it to run (would cough but shut down instantly). New fuel filters (no water in old), new air filter, charge battery. Will crank, run (cough) for a second then shut off. Grey exhaust but not as prevelant as yesterday. Any suggestions to get it running?
  2. Ford EGR Valve for 6.0 has part numbers of: 4C3Z_9F452-A 4C3Z_9F452-AA 4C3Z_9F452-AC Is there a difference? Can any of the above be used on an early '04 build F250 or just the -A? Thanks, Rich

Just in case anyone was wondering, new mass air sensor solved the problem. Thanks for any and all insight. -Rich

Vac lines are all connected or plugged. Engine will die if throttle is held open. New fuel pump and fuel filter. Also there seems to be very good pressure at the schrader valve by the fuel rail.

As far as I know it is all stock (he's building it for his girlfriend)

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll mention a clean EIC but I would think it was done on the rebuild. Also if the EIC is disconnected I would think it would go into a limp mode and still run. Friend (whose car it is) is a mechanic at a local shop and it has us both stummped.
  7. Friend is rebuilding a 89 Mustang. Car is now back together but will not run on its own for more than 10 seconds. New fuel pump and filter. Car will start fine and run for ~10 seconds then engine light lights and car dies like it is out of fuel. Restart car and exact same thing happens. Will contunue to run on carb cleaner for more than 10 seconds. O2 sensor is not connected- would that make a difference or would it still run? Any help is appreciated. -Rich
  8. I am trying to figure out why the power windows on an '02 Explorer are not working. I went through all fuses under the dash and under the hood (that I could find) and all look good. Which is the specific number fuse for the power windows (yes I did look in the manual). I tried to operate the windows from each door and still nothing (even with the "child window lock" switch in both positions). There seems to b eno battery drain while pressing the up/down buttons so I am thinking fuse, but can't figure out which one. Any help? Thanks, Rich
  9. If the vehicle was taken to the dealer, could I have the code reprogramed to use the other working buttons? I can't change it by entering the code on the door because the factory code has a 0 in it, but can the code be changed by hook-up to the computer? -Rich
  10. I'm thinking wiring or connectors. Does the 9/0 button have it's own wire? (anyone know which one?) I don't think it woud be a fuse since the keypad will light the courtesy lights when every other button is pushed, but the 9/0 button on the '02 will not do anything even when using the keypad off the '03. -Rich
  11. '02 Explorer, the keypad on the door no longer opens or locks the vehicle. The 0-9 button does not light the keypad or vehicle lights. I swaped in a working keypad ('03 Explorer) and still nothing from 0-9. Both keypads are functional on the '03 explorer, but neither keypad will light 0-9 on the '02. Where should I start? Thanks -Rich
