thank end of year rental sales..........
A guess, or you have some actual data? I'd like to see how much of the 09 Fusions are dumped to rentals vs the Malibu.
-
Mustang seems to be a Summer buy.........
Well it's YOY comparison. Mustang, just like the corvette will be down in this economy, since we are all going back to basics/necessities and are disposable income is cut.
I just saw GM had a decent month. The Malibu is kicking A$$! 17.5k sold in December...

here is my guesstimates...ford down 32%....GM down 38% and cerbus down 43%...find out monday on all 3
Yea, GM and Chrysler are going to be down more than Ford, some of it because of their still possible bankruptcies are affecting people's decisions. Ford will steal some GM/Chrysler sales as a result.
People are still losing jobs, losing asset values on their houses and stocks, and the consumer confidence is down big time. Last thing people are thinking is a new car. I am sure the old one will do fine for the next few years.
But with the new year brings a new president, new hope. Time will tell, but I think 10-11 million vehicles for next year is likely. Who knows, if more people lose jobs, it might be less than 10.

Cosumer Reports is really biased, it seems like they always go crazy about Honda
Honda deserves it. Ford is getting praise for its better quality recently.
-
Good point. The 2007 safety cage was rated "Poor" by IIHS, so Ford must have done something to improve the safety cage for 08-09.
Mostl likely they increased the material thickness and/or material proeprties to higher strength steel.
-
irrespective of "ratings"...I would MUCH rather be in the focus in the event of an accident than the honda...i have witnessed BOTH in the bodyshop...guess which of the two seemed to hold up better.....of course its accident mandated but it wasn't subtle...Aluminum can sprung to mind....
??? How can you compare? Have the honda and ford been in the same accident, same speed and circumstances? It's ok to be a cheerleader :hyper: , but c'mon, give me a break. And you should know that the collapse of the front and rear is OK and beneficial for energy absorption, as long as the main cage of the car is intact. I think Honda does a great job with safety, and Ford is getting better.

Probably a drunk UAW member from Woodhaven Stamping, skipping out from work early. ;-) Just kidding.

Another good review here.
"Fusion is finally a stand-out in this incredibly crowded class. If any volume vehicle is going to help pull Ford out of the doldrums and into the mainstream again, it’s this car."
Ford is well on their way of establishing a long term quality model, in the likes of the Accord and Camry. Let's just hope they don't lose focus and let the quality go down. I love this car in black, in the sports package.

Did anybody else catch this? Where is the outrage? Where is the shock? Where are the protesters with torches calling for somebodies head?
The assembly lines are stopped, and the workers continue to show up for work and get paid. Paid to clean, or sit in a room and get "training". Why is it an American automaker gets blasted for doing this for it's workers, but a transplant gets a pass?
Hell, Toyota hasn't produced a vehicle in it's Indiana or Texas truck plants since the summer, the workers continue to show up and get paid, and NOBODY in the press or Congress ever mentioned it during the bailout hearings.
What a crock.
Outrage? For what? They don't want our taxpayer money. They are profitable, and they assemble the Civic, Accord, CRV and Oddesey in the US. It`s apples and oranges, IMO.

I see he's still trying to perpetuate this lie.
For me, that puts the whole letter in question. He uses pure lies in his argument.

Very good numbers Ford. I thought Mercury previously had a decent rate though?
Yea, I think Ford's numbers will rise more, given the quality improvements. BTW,any way to edit the title?

Hey have you guys seen this? It's funny, let's all relax a bit..

I don't agree with most of his arguments, but he does have some good points. Regional bias is a factor, but also on our side in Michigan.

"A beach assault craft"
That was good.

Well, in all fairness, Chrysler said they need $7B by year's end.
But that's assuming those carpetbaggers that bought them don't kick in a dime.
This auto meltdown is truly a disaster. I don't see a rebound anytime soon. Over 1/2 million jobs lost month, so I am thinking the car market will be less that 10 million in annualized rate in December.
-
I dont disagree that Chrysler should be allowed to fail.
The one that's going to fail is GM. They have the worst of liquidity problems, they will be out of cash in 2 weeks. Chrysler has more significant offereings. The Jeep brand, the minivans and 300/Charger vehicles are not bad. Jeep has a very loyal customer base. And of needed, Cerberus can put out some cash as well, even though they might not like it.

"non-telescopic steering wheel`"
Why is Ford N.A. not using telescopic steering wheel in many vehicles now-a-days.
Does it add alot of expense.
I understand Ford uses power adjustable pedels, but it seems odd to me not to use such
a useable and expected feature in modern cars.
When I drove the new focus, I noticed they no longer have telescoping(they used to have one on 07 or before)...Not sure why they took it out. I really liked the telescoping wheel...

They said bottom line is that this is the best F150 to date, but needs some work under the hood. I thought the review was balanced.
Waaaayyy too many BUTTONS!

You know honestly, it wouldn't matter how the hell they got there--someone, like yourself, wouldn't be happy about it. They couldn't win this time. If they had flown commercial, someone would have said, Damn, why didn't they drive one of their "green cars"?
They failed. Simple as that. The only thing they should have done is drive their latest technology to highlight they are serious about the future. They would NOT get criticized if they drove their hybrids.
-
what a slap in the face to fly in your corporate jet to beg for money from the government. then, two weeks later pull a pr stunt like driving your "green" cars to d.c.. just get on a commercial flight like every other ceo or other high profile individual would do. that would be like standing on the corner in an armani suit asking for spare chage. these guys (CEO's) better wake up and smell the coffee or we are all gonna be out jobs.
Too little too late. All the CEOs should be fired. They really embarrased the Big3 in front of all of America with their arrogant and uninformed performance last time. They are out of touch. They couldn't even explain why exactly they need 25 billion. Now, they need 34 billion.

I am surprised how well the Explorer and Expedition did. The Explorer almost outsold the Edge. Escape is doing great in this market. Fusion and Focus are down...Flex is still a joke. Anyhow, I think Ford is being saved by the trucks and low gas prices.

I am so pissed off at my neighbors buying brand new foreign cars. it really pisses me off. i want to ask if your father/grandfather fought in ww1 or ww2 and if so are they rolling in there grave because you are driving a jap car???? i want to put a sign in my yard by there kitchen window that says ....
BUY AMERICAN! I hate them i don't even want to wave or say hi anymore because of this. Don't they understand!!!!
Don't be an idiot. Talk to them. Tell them how awesome some of today's Fords are. Tell them how amazing Ford is doing in the latest quality and safety studies.
My grandfather fought in WW2, and he still has no problem with German or Japanese cars. The hate will hurt you more than help you in the long run. The best way to convince people to buy Ford is by telling them what I told you above. Ford is making great cars and trucks today, and that's not some UAW propaganda, but real data from Consumer Reports, JDPower and the gov's safety org....

I don't understand how they can lump all the F series together. The f150 and f250 are unique vehicles, don't really share much parts. Different engines, frames, exterior panels, interior....Can someone please educate me..
