  1. Agree with @Watchdog obviously nothing can be done about it but one of the key uses of his info was keeping tabs on production and especially in this environment the option deletes etc

For example in my case, have a 23 raptor on order, heard rumblings from folks trying to get orders in now dealers saying the 37 package was "deleted" or "no longer available" would love to see the actual bulletin wording to understand if this is just the usual commodity hold for the 37 and the dealers are trying to push the customer to order a 35 vs have an order on the books for a year? Whether ford is not accepting any more 37 orders? or whether ford is actually deleting the 37 off existing unscheduled orders.

He has 16 years experience but most likely not as new car manager, not with retail orders and the new norm these days. :(

It is what it is, but he is local and he gave me the best deal, comparable with what other dealers advertise on forums, invoice-3%, if I take in the consideration the cost to fly out and pick up the car, then drive it to Houston.

The other potential is that he has 16 years experience telling customers fluff stories to act like they are "doing something" when there is nothing he can actually do but wait....

The annual allocation for specialty vehicles (Shelby, Raptor, Raptor R) is determined at the beginning of the Model Year and the Dealers earning allocation notified. The actual Raptor allocation can be granted at any time during the Model Year, with the Ford Zone Manager notifying the Dealer approximately 2-4 weeks of applicable commodity restraints prior to a Raptor order being scheduled. The Raptor allocation doesn't appear on the allocation reports and is handled internally through the Regional Scheduler and Dearborn as to what production week the Raptor will be assigned. The actual scheduling for specialty vehicles (Shelby, Raptor) is done manually.

Very helpful one piece of clarification, to your knowledge does Ford bifuracate the 35 vs 37 allocations at determination or do they allow whatever comes through and just try to build as many 37s as they can and delay 37 they cant

It certainly doesn’t feel like a great process. I ordered my 4th Raptor in October 2021. It just went into production the week of 08/16.  It’s like monkeys throwing darts at a dart board as to who gets the allocation.

For sure... my vote is that ford should redesign this program closer to the bronco launch (just with stronger controls) so dealers are allocated only stock orders and customers can go online and the reserve retail orders from ford first come until they run out, then have dealers around them bid for the incremental margin of being the delivery dealer (not perfect but IMO better than handing dealers the rights to a specific number of retail orders)

  4. i disagree that insurance is the problem, i only pay around 1200 per year for my 2010 GT and I am 25. But speaking with some peers i think the knowledge is out there that a modern v6 is just as powerful as the V8s of the 90s and early 2000s. Its more of a question of how fast do you need to go. in the past the v6 was slower than some family sedans but now it offers plenty of everyday performance AND good fuel economy. so while i dont think the V8 will go away (i want one) It will definitely become a smaller percentage of sales. which probably works for ford as well as it will improve the mustangs contribution to the cafe number as more of the higher economy v6s and in the future turbo 4s are bought.

  5. I think one point being stepped over here is that we should take their confidence they can upsell some of the former ranger customers to F-150 as an indication that the 3.7 v6 might end up turning out some very good mileage numbers for a full size pickup. at least meeting or beating some of the midsize offerings from the competition, forget beating the other fullsize trucks. if a customer who would have bought the ranger is willing to step up to one of those larger than a ranger midsize trucks they might be just as willing step up to an f-150 V6 if the mileage and performance is similar. The data point ford would look at is how many customers are "ranger or bust" in which case they will have to buy something completely different, which will probably be a different ford as we all know brand loyalty is very strong in pickup buyers. there will be some who will change brands just out of spite (probably not many), and there will be some who will find the competitions midzise offerings a tolerable increase in size but the F150 just too much.

  6. I am simply going to have to wait until next spring. The dealers here won't budge on the price. There are too few cars and they are willing to wait until the end of summer before they will even entertain the idea of invoice pricing.

That strange i ordered one 6/19 and i paid 200 over invoice. car arrived 8/25. plus there was 1k on delivery.

  7. Just was informed of a delay also an 8/6 build date. dealer told me the system said 8/15, now it says the car is still in ohio at the mixing center and system shows 8/22. i thought it was odd it spit out saturdays for week of. I wonder if it is possible that the car is moving between ramps on the train but the system still shows in ohio?

  8. To anyone out there, I know some of you are dealer employees so answer at your own comfort level. Yesterday ford put 2k of rebates on the mustang in my area. my ordered car is to be built tomorrow so it will probably be delivered this month. The dealer has insinuated that they do not believe they should share these rebates with me. We have not had an in depth discussion yet as the rebates just came up but I am wondering what kind of leverage or right do I have to them. Obviously if they pull this I will never be a repeat customer or a service customer and I will communicate this. However is there anything else I can use to my advantage. I know it is behavior like this that spoils car buying and ruins the reputation of dealers in general. i did have to put down a deposit on the car so walking away is a more complicated option. Any insight would be appreciated.

  9. I can only speak from my CT store's experience with Mustang sales this year but will share our experience here for those that are interested.

We have (7) 2010 Mustangs in stock that we wish we had months ago but were affected by the shipping holds that I've discussed in other message threads here. The 2010 Mustangs are a great improvement in many ways, especially the changes to the 2010 Mustang GT's, but the all-new 2010 model is not recognized as such to any but the die hard Mustang fans. We've sold only two 2010 Mustangs so far, both factory retail orders for GT's, which is well below our past sales experience.

The economic problems are having an effect on 2010 Mustang sales at least in our market. We only have one 2010 Mustang V6 (Convertible) in stock but our customer base has traditionally been buyers for GT's.

Ironically, we have the first 2010 Shelby GT500 in CT and last week received a wire transfer for $50,000 from a customer that wants the vehicle! Even so, we'll see soon if the customer actually takes delivery.

The Dealer Principal and I just did our new "wholesale" agreement for September vehicle production. Ford offered us (2) 2010 Mustangs and we took none. We have 7 in stock and units produced in September won't arrive until mid October at the earliest which is the end of our Mustang selling season.

We'll sell every 2010 Mustang that we can. If we can sell from our stock inventory we will. If we need to buy Mustangs from other dealers we'll do that too. Overall, we'll sell as many 2010 Mustang vehicles as we can whether it's from dealer stock or from vehicles we buy from other dealers.

This sales rate would be consistent with what I have seen at the dealers near me I have been monitoring. They still have most of thier april/may inventory and have only built on it. Personally a nice financing incentive for august could do wonders as the economy picks up people will feel more comfortable expanding thier budgets with payments.

  10. 2010 Mustang GT Premium - TrackPack Option Announcement

Offer TrackPack for $1,530 MSRP on GT Coupe Premium. The package includes dual piston front calipers, performance front & rear brake pads, performance 3.73 axle ratio, unique front strut and rear shock tuning, strut tower brace, SVT front & rear sway bars, SVT lower rear control arms, unique ESC tuning and 19" painted aluminum wheels with unique 19" Pirelli summer only performance tires.

Above is the official announcement made to dealers yesterday. The 2010 Mustang Price List was updated yesterday to reflect the TrackPack (67E) pricing. 2010 Mustang GT Premium vehicles with the TrackPack are now available for ordering thru the CONCEPS ordering system.

Is this part of Job 2? Do you know when Job #2 starts? My build week is 8/3 (non-track pack) and I am curious if it will be a Job 2 car.

Also to keep picking your brain, from what you see tracking orders about how often do they ship rail out of flat rock. I am in boston area and I am trying to estimate when my car will be shipped. Do you by any chance know where the rail depot for new england is or do they use more than one?

Thanks so much for any answers!!

  11. I looked at a 2010 Mustang GT premium, manual tranny, even test drove it and swore it had the chrome shift ball on it. I bought it and when I returned 6 hours later to pick up the car, no chrome ball instead the V6 shift handle. Dealer says I'm wrong and said it will cost $180. from parts. I can not find anywhere what package that chrome knob comes on. Can anyone help??

There are two interior packages for the 2010 premium cars. There is the standard 400A and there is the 401A upgrade package. Look on your sticker to see which one you have. The 401A has the stripe in the seats and the bullet style shift knob from the 08-09 car. The 400A has the standard shift knob carried ove. look on fordvehicles.com for images of the knob. or do a google search for images of the interior to compare.

  12. I've been managing all new vehicle orders, stock and retail, for my primary Ford store for over 20 years so I'll try to answer your questions as best I can based on what you've written so far. Vehicle scheduling is usually done on Thursday night of each week, with Dealers being notified on Friday mornings, so it's not likely that your order was actually scheduled on Tuesday, July 7th unless that's when your Dealer first realized that it had been scheduled. The 7th was my birthday so I know it was Tuesday!

The vehicle's VIN number is generated at the same time that the vehicle is scheduled at the plant. The Vehicle Visibility reporting and tracking system available to Dealers provides "real time" reporting for every change in a vehicle's status (Sent to Plant/In Production, Produced, Released for Shipment, etc.) from the time the order was initially placed all the way through production and shipping until deliver to the ordering Dealer.

Thank you for buying a new Ford!

Thanks for assistance. I think some of my terminology may have been off so I will try to provide more detail. When I called on Friday 7/10 I was told my order that I placed on 6/19 had been "pulled" in their words on 7/7. They did not have the VIN number yet. I asked them the next time i should check in and they said in a week or so. Should I expect to have a VIN number this friday 7/17? They told me once the VIN comes things move pretty quickly.

  13. thank you for the insight into this process. They did tell me the order had been accepted into the ford system it was getting an allocation for the build that they could not at this time. I asked about the next month and he said he doubted it. This was a small dealer so it is likely they get passed over when the allocations are distributed. I am going to another dealer in the boston area that i have dealt with and is much larger and seeing if they will price match the trade offer and give me a july build date. If not then i wont even see the car till september so i think i will be able to hold off another 6 months and get in on a 2011 for summer delivery.

  14. well you were right on this one man, order was denied by ford due to the dealer having no allocation. Zone rep was in thier store today and told them. they are pretty small dealer so i would guess that had something to do with it. Though i read somewhere else tonight that the 2010's stop production in march so. I might just order a 2011 for may delivery.

  15. So I heard a rumor that Ford will begin offering a $1000 rebate on the stangs starting tomorrow. I guess I will just have to wait and see if that is rumor and if it is for all stangs. Maybe it is a peace offering for the shipping hold.

just checked the ford website nothing on the stang. however the 2010 taurus is on it with cash back and financing offers including the SHO. No love for us mustang peeps, mine is on order to be delivered late july/aug i hope they put something on it by then. I know my local dealer still has had the same 4 since may.
