  1. My 2017 Escape was manufactured in September 2016. In this Winter, when I turned on the heated seats, the reversing camera didn't work. The screen show warning "the camera is unavailable". Does anyone else has similar issue? I went to Ford Dealer, my service representative said that there are a national reversing camera issue including 17 Escape. But there is not solution right now.

  2. Ford has been gradually removing redundancies from Sync, such as climate controls since there is a separate head-unit and display for those on the center console. They've also pulled climate controls from the instrument panel and steering wheel. This isn't such a bad thing because it also makes it easier for headhunits to surrender their display to CarPlay and Android Auto.

Borg, thank you for helping me understand the issue. I have another question. My 2017 Escape is equipped with Forward Collision warning and brake support. Is this function same as Automatic Emergency braking?

  3. Guys...I just read this: Porsche wins 24 Hours of Le Mans as Toyota breaks down with two to go!!! I thought Ford won!

Oops...It was the overall winner. Ford was mentioned deep in the article as taking the podium in their class. Sorry.

My understanding is that Porshe and Toyota were competing in the Le Mans prototype class; Ford and Ferrari were competing in the production class. The vehicles are different and not comparable. We don't expect a 600 horsepower GT to compete with 900 horsepower Porshe Le Mans Prototype class LMP1.

  4. I have a 2007 fusion and I live in Michigan. I pay $1200 half year for my car insurance. Michigan is no-fault state, which means my insurance company has to pay the damages regardless which part did wrong on accident.

Thanks God, my fusion hasn't made me to make any big repair. So far, I only spend routine cost for the change of fluids and one oxygen sensor. It has had more than 130000 miles on it. Except the insurance, I haven't spent too much money on the car.

  5. 10% premium increases will cost me $20 more every month. But the lighter weight and new engine will save me at least $75 on gas per month given that I drive 2130 miles for work in highway every month. I assume the gas mileage will be 30mpg on highway for the new truck. The current F-150 has 23 mpg on high way. My calculation was based on $3.50 for a gallon of gas.

  6. Given the truth that all three Japanese car makers also got double digit growth in Chinese market, I don't think such anti-Japanese sentiments really contributed too much to Ford growth in China. Considering US and Japan are allies and US supports Japanese in the dispute of those islands. Anti-Japanese sentiments actually hurt US businesses in China. I believe it is the great products of Ford that causes the strong growth of Ford in China.

  7. I doubt the reliability of CR's report. It is just a magazine. Soon or later such rating agencies will be kicked out of business by more accurate online rating system. Who still read CR? 70 years old or 80 years old. I have never read one issue of CR in my whole life. None of my friends has ever read CR either. Is that odd? Anyway, my fusion is Really Reliable. Seven years later, it is still good as new without any sign of retirement. The allocated cost for this car is really low now. During the past 7 years, except the routine maintenance, I only spent $ 600 for a fix of oxygen sensor. Time for me to pick a new Ford car or truck based on my own judgment. Now it is information era, people can get reliable information from various sources. Why do we have to be fooled by few people's ratings that are obtained by just few test drives.

  8. I really really doubt they copied F150's design/structure, maybe just the exterior styling. This may not even be a F150 sized truck: it's powered by a diesel with 108hp/177lbft (if the article is right). That's on par/worse than the 2.5 I4 & 1.6 EB in the new Escape. How do you reduce weight of a F150 (or similar sized pick up) by 1500lbs+?

They used bamboo as material. Like my cutting board.
