  1. I don't think so either. The company has already stated to the union that the IMSTs (as they are called ) are first and foremost production operators and trades second. Why doesn't the international step in on this and set someone straight since it seems to be a big issue? We are doing production work 100% of the time and 0% trade work.
  2. We voted the IMT language they had down and now the local is scrambling trying to campaign to get it passed the second time around with the normal threats (plant closing, massive layoffs etc.... ). We just don't understand how they can go against the national agreement,( No new skilled trades classifications). We are worried that they will have all the trades tied up in this IMT program and then contract our work out without giving the trades the chance on coming back out of the IMT program. It just seems like with all the international has done to try and put us on an even playing field our local is trying to do the opposite. We are suprized the international hasn't stepped in and told them to just drop it.
  3. They post jobs on the board for certain trades they want in each department as IMTs. Then if they don't get enough (volunteers) they then force junior trades of what ever trade they still need .
  4. Our union is telling us that cleveland has IMT language already in their local agreement and it's been their for a while as a COA.
  5. I didn't realize you could see me . So why don't you like IMTs ? Do you even have them? So doing two jobs for the price of one is being lazy? Oh by the way "nothing has changed?" plllleeease!!!
  6. What is MWT's and what does your local contract say about it?
  7. Thanks Level We (production and trades) are trying but it sounds like our local wants to push it. We don't understand when our local stiopped representing the workers and started thinking about themselves. We have expressed to the union what we feel is wrong with this program (just about everything!) but they seem gun ho on getting this passed. We would like to hear from all the powertrain plants about this IMT program. Our local is trying to make us believe that all powertrain is doing this to certain degrees and that is what we would like to know. So far we know Romeo., Van Dyke transmission and Brookpark (plant 1 and 2 ) are not doing this, But we would also like to hear from all other plants. Poat the plant you work for, everyone, and let us know to what degree if any you are doing this. Alo of workers from Lima read this and they can get informed.
  8. They also agreed to keep our restrooms clean and fumigated and some fans and stools for our assembly dept. But it was 95% IMT language
  9. Local 1219 LEP voted down the IMT pilot contract by a big margin. production Against 62% and trades against 60% Now let all powertrain stick together!!!!
  10. Local 1219 Lima Engine Production Yes 79% Trades Yes 68%
  11. Thats ok we were told that you guys were closed because you didn't do the IMT program. As far as what work they will be doing we don't know . We just found out that some of our retired trades have been contacted by our local outside vendor. Oh by the way transferring there was another option we were given. Maybe all those new dock doors they are cutting in walls in the old v-6 side might give you a clue of what they will do with all the trades. They are not big enough to haul out machinery just big enough for incoming stock!! Now we know who you are ... a union rep!!! you said the exact same things they were telling us in assembly today!! Hope you like going back to assembly next election
  12. Saturday and Monday of this week local 1219 were out in force campaigning heavily to try and get our local IMT contract passed. Giving useful information such as possible plant closing to floods of transfers coming in to take production jobs! They were told if the IMT contract didn't pass that the IMT trades would be pulled from the maching dept. and laid off and then transfers would be brought in to take their place. Even though some of our retired trades have been contacted by an outside vendor to come and work at our plant for them. Where in the hell is our job security? What the hell is our local union trying to do? They are trying to tie up our skilled trades in production jobs and allow outside contractors to come in and do our work. It is pretty aparent at our plant that we don't want this here but our local keeps pushing it!! "Who are they working for" is the main question going around our plant because it doesn't seem they represent us any more. Hopefully we can vote this down and get back to what we are good at and build engines!!!
  13. Let us hear from the other engine plants . We need to stick together!!
  14. When do you expect to read your local agreement or haven't your local reached one yet? You might want to ask your commitee person if it will be in there.
  15. You are correct Furious . If they manage to get this into powertrain then who knows what plants will be next.
  16. Frpm what we are told all powertrain have signed COAs that allow the company to do this and all of them are doing IMTs at different degrees. Lima is suppose to be the lead plant for a pilot program for IMT. What we would like to know is how many engine plants have IMT language in their local contracts.
  17. Do you guys have anything in your local agreement about IMT. The reason I ask is that if some engine plants do and some don't then it puts us on uneven playing fields and that is something the international says they don't want. We would like to know about other engine plants local agreements if you have any info.
