Aluminum heads are easier to machine.

117,xxx miles
2002 Focus ZX3
2.0L DOHC, 5 spd. manual
I've owned it since ~83,000 miles, haven't had any issues except for a cracked thermostat housing and a leaking valve cover gasket. No maintenance but tires, oil changes, and brakes. I'm happy with it.

Pure capitalism is as functional as pure communism.
Completely agree. However, "what's 400 million in profits to such a big company? huh? HUH?!" is exactly what's the issue: it's a sense of false entitlement. That's the beauty of America: you're free to do with your profits what you please, and I can't believe I'm actually reading an actual human being suggest that Ford give up half a billion dollars in profit to benefit THEM.
^There's another issue. fordworker is presumably a Ford employee and yet...they aren't aware of VEBA. Educate yourself regarding these matters so you DON'T get dicked over by the man.

the pay rate is a unch of BULLSHIT!!! all companies and the TV guys are all in it together to fck the working man...
take Ford for example...40,000 workers if we made $5 an hour above GM it only cost Ford $400 million a year more..now Ford has sales of $160 Billion and $400 mills aint going to hurt them 1 fcking bit.... Ford is going to make $3-5 billion profit next in 2010 depending on how much $$ they hide.... $400 aint going to cause any BS "competitive disadvantage" with anyone..
its about time to put an end to this BS talking point and this goes for any and all business who move to China there all greedy...
Ever hear of a little ideal called capitalism?

Comparing peak numbers between two engines doesn't always tell the whole story.
Under the curve power and torque is where the biggest difference will be felt.
-
The UAW was right not to give Ford the new contract. Too many good paying jobs have vanished.
Jobs that can't be sustained in the current economic climate. So flies the bird of capitalism.
-
I'd like know how a dealership in MI, which is experiencing pretty much a depression economically can carry so many models on its lots, where in other areas of the US, your lucky to find 2-4 models of the same car sitting on the lot
A massive amount of Ford-loyal buyers. This might be a depressed area, but there's still *plenty* of people around here with good jobs and enough scratch to keep buying new cars.

Any F100 info would certainly have me intrigued...
F-100 info has been bandied about for years, I don't believe a word anyone says about it.

God DAMMIT, not you.

I concur.
I think the 6F55 has different ratios than the 6F50, hence the government requirement to list it separately.
There's multiple final drive ratios in the differential, located in the transmission, depending on the trim level/model. I'm pretty sure it's as simple as that.

The roof strakes look good.

Where oh where did I see a press release detailing what I think was a hybrid powerpack compatible DCT...
Allow me to get to googling.

So, like you said, under development.
-
There are still rumors that Ford is working with Getrag to some how make a DCT work in a hybrid application. This is strictly a research project, so don't get excited.

Something tells me he's not really in the loop for predictions.... I'd guess he might hear far-flung speculation, add a dash of enthusiasm, and turn it into near future "reality". Not altogether bad, but disheartening if you happen to be someone who reads it and gets excited by it, only to be disappointed in the end.
All igor ever did was regurgitate shit he read here that Blue II and others posted.
-
And it'll probably be a hell of a lot less issue-prone than Volkswagen/Audi's current FWD DSG box. The hydraulic system has some goofy issues in those applications, but then again, it's German
-
All we get is cryptic comments from Blue II. As Pioneer said, Ford's started firing people for leaking stuff here...
I've received PMs on other boards that strongly suggested I edit posts about future products. These weren't directly from Ford employees but from people with knowledge of Ford's IT policies and the fact that they're cracking down on a whole lot harder.
Non-disclosure agreements are a bitch.

+1^^^
If you cannot figure out how to properly use the Ford cruise control interface, you are braindead.
-
You're acting as if a turbocharged direct injection inline-4 is come kind of newfangled, untested technology.
It's not. Even "don't even think about owning this vehicle out of warranty" Volkswagen and Audi powertrains don't eat themselves up after 50k miles. The technology is as close to perfected as it will get; powertrains simply don't experience critical failures at mass scale anymore. They put 50k+ miles on tons of vehicles before they sell em, you know! When I was down in Dearborn, we didn't have ONE powertrain failure on a production-spec vehicle in the test pool AFAIK, and these vehicles were beat to death with over 50k miles on them.
-
That's one of 3 RSs in Dearborn. There's red, white, and blue
There's a red ST too.

Could just be an old mule. That's a weird place to see one too. I drove through that intersection no more than an hour ago, heh.
-
I've seen them in the flesh...YUCK. Do not want.

I'm still struggling with the concept of relying on the 'average consumer' to understand the two different fuels, and then fill up correctly. We're talking about people who think the oil light means it's time to change the oil.
Could it be possible that Ford has primarily commercial truck fleets in mind, where the refueling is centralized in some cases, and in most cases is handled by someone who presumably knows what to do?
I love the idea of this engine, but I have no faith in it being correctly maintained by the average Joe.
You'll have to come to terms with it eventually. Audi and BMW diesels in the US already require urea refills at dealership service intervals. People will learn to maintain their vehicle in a hurry once they ignore it and are met with a no-start condition!
I'd expect to see warnings just like this: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4418608

I think JPD was referring to the upcoming Explorer as the final iteration of the D3 as we know it.

I've been seeing SHOs lately, them suckas are some BIG vehicles. Sharp sharp sharp.
