  1. 2WD Eddie Bauer. No towing package.
  2. Anyone change their stock shocks for the Bilstein HD types? I love the Expedition but it drives more like a Cadillac than a truck. I know Ford did this because soccer moms would want a soft ride but I feel it's dangerous if you need to swerve to avoid something. I know that's what the RSC is for but the lean in the Expy is horrible in highway curves. I know Bilstein sells them but I am curious how hard the install was and how you like the ride after the Bilsteins. Thanks all. Mike
  3. There is nothing behind the black covers. I noticed this when I changed the oil. There are two holes on the frame where a tow hook would bolt to but no tow hooks.
  4. My 08 Expy Eddie Bauer 2WD did not come with tow hooks. Other than the dealer, where can you buy these?
  5. I bought a 2008 Expedition Eddie Bauer, 2WD this weekend. I love this truck. I got a great deal on this especially with the $8,500 in Ford rebates and X-plan. A few questions for fellow owners: Wheel locks? - Do you need to use the Ford 6L3Z-1A043-AA or can you use the McGard 24205 ones? Locking gas cap? Stant? What is the model #? Roof racks - I will never use these things. I was able to remove the center portions but can you safely remove the side rails? These things are plain ugly! Headlights - could be brighter. What have you upgraded too? Tire pressure - what kind of psi are you using for the front and rears? 35 seems too low. I was thinking 40 psi front and 38 psi rear. 5W20 mtor oil? Why so thin? Any other ideas or must do modifications would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Their online price is 19K and I asked for their best price and they came back at that price. I am sure once I am there in person I can get at least another $500 knocked off.
  7. Oasis report for the 07 Expy comes back clean also. Build date was Feb 07. Base 3/36 warranty would expire 2-6-2010
  8. I need everyones input on whether to buy a used 07 Expedition or a new 08 Expedition. I keep all my vehicles until they die so this will be vehicle I will keep for a long time. I have a diesel Excursion so I will not be towing with this vehicle. Here are the facts for each: 07 Expedition XLT 2WD, 17,676 miles. Not Ford Precertified but will have balance of 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/50 powertrain. Carfax is clean. 3.31 gears Convienence package Cloth interior 3rd row seat. $17,500 08 Expedition XLT 2WD, 60 miles. Full warranty from Ford. 3.73 gears Convienence package Cloth interior 3rd row seat Sirius radio Trailer tow package Approx $23k with $7,750 in Ford rebates
  9. When I upgraded the brakes on my 96 Crown Victoria to the larger 98+ CV brakes I checked to see if the front spindle was the same. Since all brake components bolt to the spindle, it is safe to assume the switch would work. I had to change the hub, caliper bracket and caliper along with the larger rotor for mine to work. Since I already had 16 inch rims, I knew the 12 inch rotors would work. The master cylinder was also the same so bake fuild pressure would not be an issue. It might be easier to find someone with a 07 Expy and compare their setup to yours to see if the swap would work. It's a lot of work to verify things but it was well worth the effort.
  10. I have tried 2 dealers so far. I live in Richmond VA and tried one in Williamsburg VA and another in Maryland/DC area with no luck. Since I am looking for a specific Expy (XLT, 2 wheel drive, tow package, convenience package, 3rd row seat, no dark colors like black or blue) I am limited to what dealer has them. Does anyone know how I can access the Ford database on where a specific Expy might be? The Ford.com website will only give you close matches with dealers near your zip code. Sure you can change the zip codes but you still need to review every Expy a certain dealer may have because the options will be different. Many Expy's I see don't have a third row seat and you usually don't find that out unless you call or email the dealer - a big hassle. I tried Autotrader.com but not all Ford dealers list their cars on there. Cars.com does not allow you to search by 2WD so you need to look at every Expy and see if it is 2WD or 4WD. Lastly, when are the 09 Expy's expected to be delivered to dealers? Early Sept? Mike
  11. The current rebate on 08 Expeditions in the Metro Richmond VA area is as follows: 0% for 72 months or $3000 cash $3000 cash of owner loyalty (must own 1998 or newer Ford) $1750 using Ford financing Total $7,750 off Expeditions. This special ends Sept 2, 2008. Does anyone know what kind of rebates will be offerred on Sept 3, 2008? I have my eyes on two Expeditions but the dealer is balking at losing money to sell them now. Dealer tells me Ford rebates may be better after Sept 2, 2008 when current rebates expire but of course he had no evidence to say the rebates will be better. Anyone hear anything about the next reound of rebates to get rid of the unsold 08 Expy's? Mike
  12. That makes sense. By then it will be 3 model years old. I don't forsee gas prices dropping anytime soon so it might be worth the wait.
  13. This is for the wife to drive the kids to school, doctor, food shopping etc. It won't be used for long distances so I am not worried about the mileage. With four kids and the first one starting school, we need the room the Crown Victoria doesn't have. The wife won't drive the Excursion because it's too big. I know the Expedition is still a big vehicle though. Also want it for the safety. I know the Crown Vic is a safe car but I think the Expy is safer.
  14. I am looking to buy a 07 Expedition with a V8 and a third row seat. Due to SUV's not selling I see many of them selling for significantly less than what they originally sold for. My question is, if the dealers are selling 07 V8 Expeditions with less than 30k miles on them for less than $15k, what did they pay for them either from the private buyer or at the auction? I don't want to insult a dealer by offering $12k for a car they bought for $13k. If I knew roughly how much they paid I would offer them some profit on top of their price. Yes, I am looking for a bargain here. Ford made a pretty penny when I bought my 05 Excursion new so now that the roles are reversed I am looking for a good deal. Thanks Mike 2005 Expedition 1996 Crown Victoria 1994 Mustang GT
