Well I got my Navigator back from dealer. As i mentioned previously, they had to change out the air conditioner control module in the dash. And wouldnt you know, they also chipped the real wood dash insert - what a present I had to discover. Now they have to replace all the wood (as I understand it, the wood is book matched, so a piece of it cannot be replaced. It all has to be replaced.) So far, service manager said no problem and is ordering the wood.
As far as the airbag light, ford engineers told the dealer to replace the airbag control module, which they did, and that fixed the problem. No more airbag light on. I sure hope this is the end of the "working out the bugs" for my new navi with only 3,000 miles on it. I have another 2000 mile trip coming up, so we'll see. All the best.
