  1. ........or could that be according to “your” interpretation of what the language “means”? Reading it is one thing, contract interpretation is another. What is the actual language, not just snippets? My point is that many read what they want to read (in any contract) while the actual language may mean something entirely different. Have you checked with your BC to verify or validate your assumptions? They should be able to clarify, especially if they were in the negotiations when this language was developed. Rather than make "assumptions" it might be worth the time to find out the facts. Just a thought.
  2. Michigan is NOT a right-to-work state ........yet! If we were, I guarantee there would be a different contract
  3. It's hard to say what one would or would not do until they are in that position.
  4. We are not a right-to-work state. Anyone that goes to work in any of our plants (Michigan) must be a member of the union. That is not the case in RTW states. In three years there may not be a union to build off of. If we ever get RTW in Michigan, after these last round of negotiations, in my opinion, it will gut the UAW!
  5. What makes one think that they were not informed and voted based on the facts? It appears there were risk either way. The irony would have been had the contract been voted in then everyone would be calling everyone dumb asses for voting in a pathetic contract and talking about how the leadership sold them out for there own self serving interest. It again, would be alleged that the leadership didn't present all the facts! I wish both Tulsa and Nashville nothing but the best.
  6. Oh I see what your "real" issue is....... you were wanting to double dip and now you can't. That's why it is ok in your mind to rollover for others. Also sounds like you are obsessed (based on this post and previous post) with the Chairman in Tulsa! Did you ever think that maybe YOU don't know as much as you would like to think you know?
  7. What makes you think the people in Tulsa DID NOT think for themselves? Just because that have a different opinion than you, does that make them stupid? You give the Chairman way too much credit in Tulsa to imply that "he" would have the power to convince 91% of his membership to vote a certain way! Maybe there are some things your not seeing or understanding? I believe the people in Tulsa are smart enough to read and comprehend and make decisions for themselves, contrary to what you feel! As for the "union shop" piece, under the proposed contract, there wouldn't be much of a union shop for long. Does the term "Union Busting" ring a bell? In a Right to Work state, why would anyone want to be a part of a union with the wages and benefits that was offered and no teeth in the language and no protections? So is it better to go from a "Union Shop" to a "Sweat Shop" just to save jobs? Everyone is entitled to their opinion and who the hell are you to degrade and slam those that share a different opinion than you? Debate is healthty but degrading people is not and says more about the person who is doing the degrading that the one(s) they are degrading! I guess some feel the need to get on the message board and feel empowered in some sic way.
  8. Hey Captain! Can you respond to post without calling people idiots or cussing them? Especially if they share a different opinion than you! Your post are more negative that positive and more destructive than constructive..... What you add to in one post (positive) you take away in another.
  9. ....and what does post #86 have to do with the appeal you were referring to, or your knowledge thereof?
  10. Another expert making an assumption about something they know nothing about! What do you expect the "UAW" lawyers to do? Could you imagine the impact if granted (on all ACH Plants)? Guess you never thought of that! I will be the first to say I know nothing about their appeal but I do know enough to not get on this board and make an ass out of myself by trying to be important and knowledgeable about something I have no knowledge of! So what if their appeal is granted or denied! At least they had the balls to stand up for what they believe! That's more than you can say about others on this board. Shame on us an an organization if we refuse to stand up and fight for our members and shame on those that chastise those who do for doing so!
  11. Obviously you don't know allot, based on all of your post! Enlighten us almighty SuperC! Share with us your wisdom so that all who may come to this message board will have the gospel of some one as knowledgeable as you, oh wise one. Let me see, you now someone who knows someone who knows someone that knows the facts and they enlightened you as to what was really going on?
  12. Who are you to say someone is not very smart? Most of your post are lacking in substance and degrade anyone who has a different opinion than you! You must be a salaried employee because a true union brother/sister would respect another union brother/sister and their opinions! Some of your so-called facts are merely speculation, yet those that present different thoughts or opinions are stupid? If you are a union brother, whatever happen to solidarity! We are a union of diversity and that means not just race, ethnicity, and sex. We are a union of differing opinions as well! That's what makes the UAW so great......but then being a salaried worker you wouldn't know that!
  13. You are exactly right but it is the UAW Constitution that dictates a ratification vote!
  14. I find it interesting that you would think Tulsa messed up. ......and that would be based on what? Your opinion? ..... and what expertise do you have to make such judgment? It could be said that you didn't think for yourself, yet chose the path of least resistance! It seems that many on this board want to hammer those that have a different opinion than themselves and classify them as ignorant or ill-informed! As the saying goes....."It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". Many on this board have removed ALL doubt! Some profess to be strong union brothers and sisters and yet they criticize and ridicule those that have a different opinion or look at things different. I commend those in Tulsa for fighting for what they believe! It takes balls to stand up for your beliefs and convictions, something many on this board don't have!
