  1. Maybe ongoing negotiations with the UAW and CAW are forcing Ford's hand prematurely. I'm just guessing but it is a possibility.
  2. Apparently a black and white Taurus cop car showed up at STAP today. I didn't see it but many did. Don't know why it's here, could be to show to local police forces or rub our noses. But appears to have pissed alot of people off.
  3. That sounds good and possible, the only catch is any new product has to go to the States. So it would have to be existing product. That brings up something else. Mazda wants Mustang out of Flatrock, where will it go?
  4. I fully agree with what you're saying, as I said in the beginning, it's pure conjecture. But it was the Union that said we're closing, the Company said it's not announcing closure. The Union says prepare for the worst, so we do. But the Company wants options, especially if the new Taurus doen't sell as the new Police or Taxis vehicle. There has to be a carrot to get us to except concessions. Whether it be a lucrative close out aggreement or maintaining Ford's footprint in Canada.
  5. Morning All I'm just throwing this out there, opinions. A couple of us were talking about this morning. This is what may be happening. I don't think they plan on closing the plant but Ford is not ready to say we're getting a new car yet. I think they will try to get us to except concessions based on a lucrative close out aggreement which they never intend on using. Sept. 2011 will come around and low and behold they announce they have a new car for us, but only if we take concessions again. So that would be 3 contracts they get concessions. I don't know if I'm right but it makes sense.
  6. Would you mind staying out of this. I watched you try to stir things up in another STAP thread. You have no idea what's going on in our plant. At this point this just a tool to get information. Sometimes reliable, sometimes not. Thanks
  7. We heard it from our Skilled Trades Rep, he was at the meeting in Windsor yesterday.
  8. You know you started this rumour in the employee section. It is true there was a meeting, but it was never said the plant was closing, all that was said was that there is no future product planned after 2011. Which is no different from what we've been told in the past. It was also said that Bill Russo and Scott Smith plant chair had a meeting, that never happened. All rumours!!!!
  9. No question, it's a delay tatic to screw us out of the $3500 and $1700. But Oakville and Windsor already got the $3500, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
  10. So last Friday, June 12, the CAW and Ford of Canada meet for informal talks, Ford says we want concessions better than you gave GM. CAW says OK what do you have for us? Ford says nothing! CAW says Thank You Very Much we have a contract till 2011. Today we find out we won't be getting our $1700 vacation bonus next week, but instead it will be paid on PP#33. These guys really know how to piss people off!!!! Let the games begin!
  11. At STAP the only thing we've been told is; the plant is down for at least this week due to one part supplier going bankrupt. We don't know who. Are any other Ford plants down as a result of bankruptcies?
  12. That's too bad, I know Windsor has been hit real hard and as Jaah stated I don't recall being asked for support either. We still have approx. 75 of your Brother and Sister's here. I know Oakville got loads of support back around 2003 when the decision to Flex Oakville was made.
  13. I think the big question remains, is CAW National willing to sacrfice STAP to save Oakville and Windsor. My guess is YES. STAP will vote NO to any aggreement that doesn't promise new product. Will Windsor and Oakville support us??????
  14. Another article that expands on the first. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/Business/Ford...7546/story.html
  15. Ford posturing, guess we knew this was coming!!!! http://www.canada.com/Ford+Canada+pressure...8631/story.html
  16. 30 million is still a stretch and I've got nothing against electricians, cause I "r" one.
  17. "30 Billion" that would be a slight stretch wouldn't it!!!!!
  18. One of the Boy's ran into Whitey last week, Whitey said the CAW starts negotiations with Ford next week. So I guess we'll find out what's happening soon.
  19. Hey Jaah, Scott misses your cheery face this week!!!!!
  20. Good response Jaah, something tells me he won't comprehend it though.
  21. My guess is STAP will get screwed for the $3500. But from what I understand National has been told no concessions for Ford unless they promise new product for St.Thomas.
  22. Sounds like our negotiating team has been called to Toronto!!!! And so it begins........Will he hold firm or will he cave..... I was mistaken, apparently it was just another information meeting. Ford still hasn't approached the CAW yet.
