  1. Why would they not give it back now? It appears salaried workers are getting some things back at the present time. How are you going to give anything back to workers who were forced out or took buyouts after the International UAW convinced them they had no future with Ford? You seem to have an answer for everything, but in reality you need to quit trying to convince others of what is best for them. They are grown men and women. Let them vote as they feel they should.
  2. They may or may not put Nashville and Tulsa back under the Ford umbrella. FYI, Ford has been planning to get out of the glass, and other parts making businesses, for over 20 years. The only ingredient missing was newer hires union reps that would turn on each other and try to convince others it was in their best interest to vote themselves out of a job. I have a good friend who was actually standing beside William Clay Ford Sr. over 20 years ago when he made the comment "that there is one thing for sure, Ford is going to get out of the glass business". Ford started the move to exit the glass business in 1972 when they built Tulsa glass [where were you in 1972]. Before that, about 90% of the glass for Ford vehicles came from Nashville. A small portion of windshields and maybe some body glass came from Niagra Glass and Dearborn glass. The UAW could cripple Ford with a strike at a single plant. The executives at Ford were smart enough to not let this happen. The writing has been on the wall for many years. The last piece of the puzzle was to divide the workforce and have union reps trying to get someone to vote themselves out of a job. Mission accomplished, thanks to yourself and many more like you.
  3. I don't need a history lesson. I was working for Ford, when they had a union workforce that stuck together, when you were still pooping green in diapers. Looks like Zeledyne may be taken back by Ford any day and placed in ACH status. You're not an east sider, you are an under the desk type. Not sure you know what that means either, but I am nowhere close to Tulsa. If you can read past the T it is ennessee. Take another dose of that medicine now before you go off.
  4. You have to wonder about a re-vote that goes from 90% against ratification to 90% for ratification. It's kind of like a dead fish. The smell just gets worse.
  5. I say that because you were trying to convince everyone in the glass division we needed to vote to accept the sale for the betterment of other Ford employees. What a crock. You must be part of the younger generation that Ford seems to be dividing against each other. The older generation would have never fallen for it. I retired after transfering and staying with Ford. Oh, by the way, are you an international guy as you always seemed to want everyone to think?
  6. I know he has been doing it for over 2 years. Looks like he maybe still misses a dose of medicine every now and then before he goes off on a tirade. A couple of years ago he was trying to convince everyone in the glass division how it was best for everyone if a buyer was found. Doesn't look like it panned out that way for most involved.
  7. It is good to know you are still gaining credits. If you are gaining credits and getting a check you are way ahead of those that took the money and pay cut. It does seem our group was right on the trailing edge of everything. I finished with 29.7 after the 3 credits were added back. I always said I wouldn't go without the full 30 but I just couldn't keep commuting and taking a chance of not getting the 3 credits back. It only amounted to about 30 or $40 a month cut. I guess we just have to keep the faith that the retirees will not lose it all someday. When you retire at our age, a lot of circumstances can change. Good luck, you will get there.
  8. Exactly my thoughts from my parts depot experience. It almost seemed they had as many chiefs as Indians.
  9. More food for thought. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/investigat...250/detail.html
  10. I couldn't have stayed at he warehouse and got the SER+. I wasn't 50 by the cutoff date either. Cutoff date I believe was Dec 1 2008. I didn't turn 50 until March 09. If you had gone to Memphis you could have taken the SER+ package Ford offered last fall. You could grow into [turn 50] it until June 1, 09. You had to retire the first day of the month following your 50th birthday. We did hire in the same day. Are you still gaining retirement credits while you are out of work? Good luck wherever you may land.
  11. JA, If you had signed to go to Memphis, you could have gotten the SER+ package offered last fall. You would have been given 3 pension credits to take the package and retire. You would have only been there 9 months or less and would be drawing a full pension. You had the seniority to get there. I guess hindsight really is 20-20. And oh yes, you would have gotten $4900 moving allowance, $10,000 initial transfer incentive, and $15,000 transfer incentive for the first year. You would have forefieted the last $20,000 transfer incentive check for retiring before you had worked a year. To each his own, but I went for 9 months and know this was the right decision for me.
  12. He is 1 of the three stooges running Memphis PDC.
  13. You do not if it is an inverse seniority layoff and you volunteered. Otherwise you do if you are being paid.
  14. I know what the contract says. I am just giving the facts of what has happened in Memphis PDC. There are 11 of on inverse seniority layoff until January 3, 2009.
  15. Memphis PDC has 11 on TLO until January 3, 2009. We were told it could become a permanent layoff at that time which would mean no inverse seniority. Hope they change this to anothere TLO.
  16. We were told the International UAW fought it tooth and nail. They want to hold the numbers where they are. As everyone knows the money would be coming from the retirement fund.
  17. The sign up window in Memphis PDC ends October 31, 2008. Memphis was not listed on the websites but the buyouts are available there.
  18. Disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes and it will clear the check engine light.
  19. It is also 5 days paid for the death of spouse.
  20. THE UNION NEEDS TO WAKE UP. IT IS CALLED LABOR DAY FOR A REASON. WHATS NEXT?
  21. A plan is A plan. The dealer isn't giving anything special after A plan that the company is not providing. Just lost a sale due to them giving "other" car owners an extra $1000 rebate when I already had 4 Fords in my driveway, but no other makes, which means I don't qualify for the extra $1000. Their brilliant.
  22. Think again. I tried to buy a focus yesterday and they will give someone who owns another brand a $1000 rebate. Me, I only own 4 other Ford so I don't get rebate. They can keep thier Focus.
