  1. I think the contract is a homerun for production. There is improvement over the current situation.Things are getting better for temps and lower tier, right?I am trades and the only extra I get is a $2000 tooling allowance over the 4 year life of the contract.I am also responsible for buying my own tools.Let me add that my hourly wage rate is average at best compared to  what my trade is being paid on the outside. If production had its way the extra hourly rate paid to the trades would be divided up among  everybody and trades pay would equal production pay.I guess I can be thankful for my $3 an hour rate over what a team leader makes.Of course if that was the case the trades would be,,,highly unmotivated,,to say the least.$500 a year is my additional $$$ for being trades.I have production workers tell me they always vote NO first time.I have lower tiered production workers tell me they want equal pay for all immediately. Many companies have a progressive wage schedule not just Ford. One thing I learned from watching the GM strike is that the company is a tough opponent.GM lost a billion dollars and their sales did not slip.Who knows how long GM would hold out against the strikers if no COMPROMISE was agreed to?GM lost a billion dollars and still paid healthcare to striking workers, which they did not have to do.I would strike under the right circumstances. The icing on the cake for production is a $60,000 severance bonus, voluntary, for all eligible workers who want to leave their job. That is a lot of money to a guy like me and its much better than $2000 to buy tools, over 4 years of showing up at the plant.I am grateful to have a job that pays the whole cost of my health insurance.National public sentiment would not be on our side if we went out on strike.I am a YES vote.Striking would not be worth it,in my opinion. The lost wages, lower profit sharing,no guarantee that Ford will keep paying our healthcare while out on strike, lost holiday pay. That being said I will stand in solidarity either way the vote turns out.$60,000 severance,,,,to ALL eligible production!Take the $$$ and run if you dont like the job.Trades get this,,,up to 200 {out of all trades} workers who retire as determined,up to 200 not "ALL".Its nice be wanted,LOL.

How I read from the white pages was unlimited sri packages ($60000) for eligible employees. 30 years or age plus years worked. Then also unlimited STEP packages ($60000), for anyone not eligible for retirement.  But that is a separation. You are done with Ford after that. Members with 1 year seniority could take it. Or members that are close to finishing school and looking for other employment.

I wonder who is gonna be left, showing up for work in the plants?Actually it is a very fair way to whittle down the workforce and it gives younger people a chance at the jobs. Its voluntary and its a win-win.Production made many gains during this contract.

I would like to thank everyone for helpful answers except for the smart ass that said read white pages. I have read available material and spoke with union rep. The problem is  interpretation some people believe buyouts only apply to Romeo. Other people say sri  and step only offered to 30 year employees.  I would like to know  so I can get as far away from this place as I can.  Once again thanks for any helpful information.

The way I read it,production workers are offered a $60,000  buyout. What the requirements are to qualify and when the separation dates will be,I guess we will find out.Seems like Ford wants to hurry the higher paid workers out the door so they can pay new hires less $$$.There is usually a number of buyouts that Ford  wants to hit so if I was ready to go I would not hesitate to apply.Good-For-You $60,000 is like getting a  new car as a way of saying, "Thanks for your loyalty, now dont let that doorknob hit you on the way out".

The plan is to finish building current model then build new model mustang elsewhere.

Idle the building, move the tooling and relocate the current employees? The plant would not actually closed it would just be idled?I will say that I dont know of a Ford Assembly plant that just built one model and stayed open very long.I thought under the new contract that no jobs would be lost?Well Ford will always find a home for you,,,,,,,,at THE ROUGE.

  5. "Threats, improprieties and coercion' is an everyday experience at Ford. The UAW solution is called C-O-M-P-L-I-A-N-C-E is mandatory and smile when ya get paid! The lawsuit is going nowhere.I am just gonna take that $9000 and buy some goodies and beer and sit back and watch the FEDS make mincemeat out of the IUAW fat cats.Dont drop the soap,Gary!

Frap has good reputation? It is by far the lowest skilled assembly plant in the us.  Extremely high downtime.  The highest repair offline in ford. On paper the ie guys love frap work groups.  Real world- plant is mass chaos (production, trades, salary share work) International hates this plants local contract. That's why international and ford plan to the idle the plant in couple years.

Okay,I dont know what the downtime or production numbers are.The trades I have met from FRAP seem as smart as anybody. The Mustang is a successful product as well as a company icon.Having a local contract that specifies only 2 trades classifications makes FRAP more efficient {on paper}.After FRAP went down to only 1 shift the company did not release any trades and that is unheard of for an assembly plant. That is why I thought FRAP had a good reputation.Maybe ,after the contract passes, the company is going to impose a moratorium on the plant and they will get no new product and then personnel will start to be transferred.I dont really know.I would guess that the Ford Mustang will be built there indefinitely since that is where the tooling is located and the product sells.

  7. FRAP has a good reputation and also the trades have only 2 classifications, mechanical and electrical. Its in the contract that FRAP stays open so there must be some plans.I am gonna guess EV`s.So long as Ford keeps the plant open, heck they could turn the place into a giant Farmer`s Market/Flea Market kinda place.Just keep showing up till they run out of $$$$$.

we got workers at CAP ready to strike over the attendance changes it's hilarious, if they made reading comprehension a requirement to work at Ford we would lose 2 shifts, a chairman and 7 union reps.

So,everybody grab a sign, throw your life out of whack, give up your paycheck, walk around the building in the freezing rain all of this with the holidays coming up,for what?I dont think its unreasonable for any company to expect you to show up,reliably.Yeah, the job can be a total drag but  my last name is not Rockefeller so I just gotta do the best I can with ,what limited options  are available to me.Thats too funny!

Sorry Fats I gotta go LOL . Ford ran just fine before I got there and will run just fine after I am gone! I have 31 and some change. My career at Ford has been rough at best with my former plant closing. Time to go back home to our families in Missouri. Your seniority will go way up so do some bidding. I am a weld inspector at CAP so we are going to need at least 4 or more new ones.

Good for you, cecil.I aint even close to a getting offered a buyout.I am trades.I cant be bitter because I can see where Ford has work for my trade just about everyday of the year. After all Ford gotta run its business.Never saw this coming but it is  kinda smart of the company to pay to get the high seniority employees to retire and then hire replacements  for less money.I mean they aint forcing anybody to take the buyout so if ya wanna go,its like getting a new vehicle as a present.

Retirement Incentive: A $60,000 bonus for all production employees and up to 200 skilled trades workers who retire as determined under the normal and early retirement provisions of the agreement.

Unbelievable number of production people will be eligible then.Hey how we gonna run?Stick around cecil and you may end up the 'Big Dog' with top seniority!Imagine that!

  11. The highlight say $60,000 buyout to all production employees. That dont sound right are they gonna hire all new people? In the white pages all I found  mentioned was buyouts for those employees who work at a plant that is closing. You will have to ask your union rep.Maybe they want to replace all the top tier production?
